Classic Car Overview

1941 Cadillac Fleetwood

This 1941 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 was originally painted in Monica Blue. Unfortunately not a lot is known about the history of the car. It is believed that it was originally a southwestern car and came to CT at least 30 years ago. It was restored back then, sold and then the current owner purchased her several years ago. She was and still is in excellent condition, with only a couple minor flaws in the paint, however, she wasn't running that great. The idea of the purchase was to use her as a wedding car and one can't have an unreliable driver when chauffeuring around brides, brides to be and their families. The owner had a local restoration shop get into the engine and $11,000 later, the car still was not running as it should. He then brought it to a local one man shop, known for his expertise on pre-war cars and he found there to be head and coolant issues, which he fixed and had the car running great in just a few days.

The couple used the car for weddings as part of another business, but then insurance rates went through the roof for a commercial enterprise involving driving people around, so the decision was made to sell her on.

During the restoration, which we feel is at least 20 years old, everything was pulled apart and redone, the car repainted in a cardinal red color that is not far from the Valcour Maroon that Cadillac offered in 1941. In my opinion, this color is befitting a Cadillac like this. Many of the Caddy colors seem too dark for the size of the car, this red grabs your eye but isn't in your face Ferrari red.

The the large flat head V8 (346 CI and putting out roughly 150HP -280 lb ft) starts right up and settles into a smooth idle. The 91,677 miles on the odometer is not indicative of the actual mileage on her since her restoration. The clutch grabs easily and she moves right along, the 3 speed manual on the column, shifting easily. 4 wheel hydraulic, drum brakes stop her well.

The lights, horn and wipers work as they should, the heater is an open flow design, controlled by opening the doors on the under dash mounted unit. This works correctly as well. The radio and the clock do not function. The rest of the cloth interior looks nearly like it did days after the restoration, it is in awesome condition. The wood trim on the door tops is lightly worn. The windows all crank down or open as they should, there is some minor delamination on a couple pieces of glass and on the gauge cluster.

Under the car is just as tidy with most of the painted frame still looking like it did from when she was fully restored. There are a few areas where the paint has flaked and/or there is some minor surface corrosion.

Under the hood is also clean and the engine shows no current leaks, while the trunk appears brand new.

Overall, this car could probably take home a trophy at a local car show, that would be a little more difficult at an AACA concours.

Looks beautiful, is as comfortable as your living room and almost as big, runs and drives great. In essence, turn key enjoyment if you're looking for a classic cruiser or even if you have similar ideas of commercial success as a wedding car service.

The family is asking $43,000 for her and that is slightly negotiable.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her in person or to simply make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest.
