Classic Car Overview
Cruisin Classics is pleased to present this beautiful 1940 Ford Deluxe. This pre-war Ford comes to us dressed in a very nice driver-quality respray in a deep Maroon. The glossy paint serves as an excellent backdrop for the many pieces of chrome and brightwork on the car. The view from the front is fantastic with a bright V-shaped grille taking centerstage. The split windshield flows down to a bright spine that travels down the middle of the hood to meet the grille with a very cool hood latch fixture. Flanking the grille are headlamps set in gleaming teardrop bezels on the bulbous fenders. Adding to the front-end look is a bright chrome bumper. A bright strip of body side molding begins near the front of the hood and travels straight down the body to the rear where it curves downward, accentuating the curve of the rear fender. Both sides of this Ford sport elegantly styled chrome side mirrors, bright door handles, and Ford Deluxe script badging on the sides of the hood. The drivers side features a working searchlight thats controlled from inside the car. Bridging the gap between the fenders are solid running boards topped with fresh black rubber mats. The side view is greatly enhanced by body-color steel wheels with Ford Deluxe moon caps and beauty rings wrapped in Coker Classics wide white wall bias-ply tires a perfect match! Gorgeous styling continues around the back with a split rear window, ornate trunk handle, sergeant stripe taillights, another shining chrome bumper, and a flared chrome exhaust tip with the Ford logo. Lift the large rounded hood to find a very stock-looking engine bay. The main attraction here is a 3.6 liter 221ci Ford flathead V-8 that the most recent owner claims is an era-correct rebuilt engine that was installed a couple of years ago. The engine is topped off with a 2-barrel carburetor and an oil bath-style air cleaner. The electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volt, a nice extra. Steering is manual and the brakes are as well, with drums on all 4 corners. A look underneath the car reveals a very clean undercarriage and a stock suspension system. When you open the drivers door youre greeted by an original-style interior dressed in tan and grey. The door panels have grey fabric on top and a strip of tan carpet at the bottom to match whats in the car. The door handle and window crank look period correct and the door offers a vent window for extra air circulation. The comfortable front and rear bench seats are covered in grey cloth and are in very good condition, free of rips, tears, or stains. The back seat offers an extraordinary amount of legroom and headroom. The tan carpet is in very good condition and is kept that way courtesy of matching carpeted floormats. The maroon-painted steel dash looks bone stock with the exception of an auxilliary temperature gauge from Sunpro. The white bezel on the dash is home to original gauges for temp, fuel, oil, and battery as well as a speedometer. The lettering and numerals on the gauges are in an art-deco style and are very cool. There is an original-looking AM radio in the dash and it powers up and makes noise, but we were unable to pull in a station on it. The radio plays through a singular dash speaker with a chrome grille cover located just below the radio. Ahead of the passenger is a glovebox with an analog clock (inop.) on its door and an original owners manual inside. At the far corners of the dash are small ashtrays with slide-up doors. Under the speaker in the center of the dash are a pull-out choke, a non-working lighter, a pull switch for the throttle (inop.), and a pull switch for the lights. Unfortunately, the pull switch for the lights is broken and the lights can not be turned on (the brake light does work though). There is a knob under the dash for the wipers but they are also inoperative. This Ford is a pleasure to drive and handles surprisingly well for an 84-year-old car. Back in the rear, youll find an empty trunk with a carpeted mat that matches the interior carpet.
