One thing that the crew at Volo Auto Museum understands is that context is everything. They have gone the extra mile to display each movie car with memorabilia and signage that brings the scene to life. The museum features actual movie props such as Tom Cruise's racing seat from Days Of Thunder.

Classic Car Overview

This modified 1940 Chevrolet Master Deluxe has the look so many hot rods strive for. The style, stance, and accessories all give a ton of curb appeal. But this one is more than just good looks. With big block power, an overdrive transmission, air conditioning, digital gauges, and more this is a car you can enjoy driving as well.

Titled as a 1940 Chevrolet, this car started life 86 years ago as a Master Deluxe two-door sedan but has come a long way since then. It received a major facelift from 1998-2000 followed by a refreshing in 2026 to create the street rod you see today. The steel body was repainted in black and is nicely accented by the red pinstriping and Master Deluxe trim along with the gorgeous factory grille and hood ornament. Additional items include a windshield visor, yellow fog lights, and frenched tail lights for a more distinguished look. The stance looks great with just the right rake but without any interference problems. Torq Thrust style wheels are also present with new BF Goodrich tires all around.

The engine is a Chevrolet 454 cubic inch big block with a nice combination of power and street manners. It also sounds great through the custom dual exhaust. Continuing the powertrain is a 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission followed by a 12-bolt rear end. Mechanical upgrades include an independent front suspension, power rack and pinion steering, and power front disc brakes. It all makes for a street rod that is easier to drive than you might think.

The custom gray interior features a 60/40 split front bench seat with shoulder belts. The rear seat is finished to match as are the headliner and door panels. A GM tilt steering column is present along with a full set of digital gauges from Dakota Digital. The aluminum dash panel also houses a digital radio with Bluetooth along with a Vintage Air HVAC control panel. Note the 32.9 degree a/c temperature shown in the pictures! Everything works properly including the lights, turn signals, wipers, and parking brake. Other features include power windows, an electric trunk release, and dual remote door poppers. There is also a trunk mounted battery along with external charging posts.

Hot rods come in many shapes and sizes. Some are over-the-top, others are too stripped down, and plenty are no fun to drive. This 1940 presents a classic design with a good blend of features and an enjoyable ride. It is a turn-key offering and comes with a folder full of receipts as well.
