Classic Car Overview
Nicknamed "White Lightning", this 39 Ford is nothing short of a thrill ride as it is powered by an early GM 350 small block fitted with an early Hampton 671 blower topped by dual 600 CFM Edelbrock carbs. Those carbs were jetted down to the smallest jet size to make this powerhouse perfectly street able and as equally suited to taking on a long, kicked-back cruise as it is burning up the quarter mile track. The compression is 8.5:1 and it is 13 degrees under driven. Another pulley is included should you want even more blistering performance. Note that the Hampton supercharger company was established in 1957, contributed to most of the NHRA drag racing championships of the early 1960s and are still in business today.
Sending all that power to the rear wheels is a TH350 automatic transmission equipped with a B&M aluminum transmission oil cooler and a B&M shifter with reverse lock out. The car has a 10 bolt Positraction rear with 3:08 gearing to provide relaxed highway cruising while a "Fat man" fabrication front clip, rack and pinion steering, chrome tubular front control arms and front disc brakes provide handling and braking performance to match the serious go power. A set of very rare Mickey Thompson Raider aluminum wheels with spinner caps are mounted on wide whitewall radial tires for the proper period look.
Look closely and youll notice beautifully crafted aluminum panels on the inner fender aprons and firewall, aluminum radiator " 4 Core" with electric cooling fan runs 190 degrees. Billet valve covers, billet air cleaner assembly. Lots of chrome under the hood of this gorgeously restored 39 five window coupe. Custom ceramic coated tube headers, dual 2 1/2 inch exhaust system with Magnaflow dual mufflers gives this nostalgic car an awesome sound . More obvious is the custom red interior with the Ford logo tastefully embossed in the seats and trunk storage area. As this is an "Opera" coupe, its stylish, close-coupled cabin features side-facing rear seats as well as a crank out windshield. Other interior highlights include custom switches, a Moon tach, a billet banjo steering wheel, an Ididit chrome tilt column, a vintage style billet digital gauge cluster, neon lights under the car, a power trunk, emergency kill switch, Ron Francis wiring and windows that roll down effortlessly.
Although the previous owner built many quality cars over the past 22 years, this 39 Ford coupe still stands as one of his favorite builds. He stated that "I built my cars to drive, not to look at." This wonderful car treated him very well, as he put 16,000 miles on it driving to all the hot rod and local cars shows in various states over the past two decades. The car was built for reliability and comfort and is great on long cruises. Included with the car is a restoration album with photographs that show plenty of details, including the car being stripped down to bare metal, epoxy primed, block sanded, and blocked some more for straightness. We have the complete owner history.
