Classic Car Overview

MG Motorworks SA Saloon-

The MG-SA Saloon is a right-hand-drive luxury sedan produced in Britain by MG Motorworks from 1936-1939. The SA was built on a Wolseley/Morris chassis with coachwork designed by MG Motorworks. The SA Saloon is known for its sleek design, advanced features, and impressive performance.

Style With Bold Lines-

This MG features a stylish exterior, clean lines and a bold front grille. The interior is designed to provide a comfortable and luxurious driving experience with premium materials, comfortable seating, and advanced features. A total of 1,945 SA-Saloon models were manufactured, but only 524 were produced in 1938. In total, only 340 of all SA models were exported to numerous countries over the entire production cycle. Based on documents provided, it appears that this 1938 MG-SA Saloon was imported into the US in the mid-70s.

Magoo The Show Winner-

The first US owners dubbed the Saloon Magoo because of the huge headlights and completed the 4-year total restoration by June 1978. In the years following the restoration, this MG-SA Saloon is said to have been a National Show Winner in this country and in Canada. (Unfortunately, we do not have the dated documentation.) The Saloon was purchased by the current Charlotte owner in 1994 and has always been carefully maintained. Original British documentation provided by the owner includes:

MG-SA Two-Liter Sales Brochure Folder (1938)
Motor Sport New York Sales brochure (1938)
Sales Import Documentation folder (1938)
Sales and Specifications Manual (1938)
Factory MG-SA Workshop Manual (1938)
Factory Spare Parts list for 2.0 Liter Mg (September 1939)
Factory MG-SA Service Information binder (March 1936)
Instruction Manual for 2.0 Liter MG. (June 1940)
The Evolution of the MG-SA/Serial number sequence (October 1997)
Numerous personal records by previous Owner
Body By MG Motorworks-

The handsome body was built by MG Motorworks, framed with hard wood and covered with custom thin sheet metal to reduce weight. During the restoration the MG was carefully prepped and refinished in Cracker Crme and Brown. (We believe the original color was simply black.) All chrome is virtually perfect. Accents include chrome bumpers, chrome windshield frame, 8 sealed beam headlights, fog lights and a stunning chrome grill. Handsome factory center-lock wire wheels mount 5.50x18 bias ply tires.

Rich Brown Interior-

The handsome interior was restored to better than original. Reupholstered Autumn Brown leather seats are more comfortable than your Lazy Boy. The solid wood dash holds a full set of working Jaegar bronze gauges and the factory steering wheel can only be described as Ace. Accents include walnut fillets, winding windows, sliding front bucket seats and sliding roof panel. Leather door panels and carpeting are in excellent nick. The whole interior space is stunning.

Wolseley Morris Power-

The MG-SA is powered by the Wolseley/Morris QPHG 2300cc OHV pushrod 6-cylinder. The rebuilt engine is equipped with dual SU downdraught carbs. Output was rated at 75bhp at 4,300rpm w/6.5:1 compression. The electrical system is 6-volt with two (2) batteries stored in the rear. It is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. (This drivetrain produced a top speed of more than 80mph.)

Brakes By Lockheed-

The chassis is fitted with manual steering and factory 4-wheel hydraulic brakes with 12 drums designed by Lockheed. Front/rear suspensions utilize half-elliptic springs and hydraulic shocks. A factory tool kit is also included.

This stately MG-SA Saloon is an icon - British history that will look amazing in your garage.
