Originally the "Coffee Grinder" featured in Grease Monkey Magazine and built by Beatnik's Hot Rod Service. This Rat Rod is right-hand drive and if that wasn't enough to make the drive-thru interesting, it has a 496 Big Block Chevy engine with aluminum heads. The chopped top '52 Chevy truck is built on a Beatnik Manufacturing Hole Shot Frame. The front suspension is 1/4 elliptical and uses a '63 Ford truck axle with stock '63 Ford truck drum brakes. The rear end is a Ford 9" with stock drum brakes and suspension is provided by a Model A spring and 4-bar set-up. The rear wheels are Dodge 20 x 8 and the front are hand built 19 x 3's. Denman and Firestone tires hug the pavement. Moving all that power is the Turbo 400 automatic transmission. A '63 Impala steering wheel commands a Saginaw non power steering box. The steering column and gauges were donated by a '63 Chevy truck. Keeping the 496 Big Block cool is a 3 row aluminum radiator with three 10" fans and a custom air box all of which is mounted in the back of the cab. The custom stitched vinyl seats and removable top insert are just part of the extensive customization done on this Rat Rod. Many hand fabricated pieces including the floors, cab, custom built radiator and shroud, roof insert and trans tunnel which is removable. For extra safety bear claw latches have been added to the doors. The headlights are from a mid-'30's Chevy and the single taillight comes from a '50 Oliver tractor.
