Classic Car Overview

1937 Ford 85 Deluxe 2 Door Sedan For consignment, a 1937 Ford 85 Deluxe 2 door sedan with 6,842 miles since completion of the build and retaining much of the design elements touted nearly 100 years ago! Only this one has some modern upgrades that make it a comfortable and capable show car. NOTE: While this car is indeed from the 1937 model year, due to New Jersey titling regulations it now carries a 1999 model year on the unencumbered New Jersey title. Exterior That prominent grille is now painted to match the body but retaining metal trim and is flanked by teardrop headlights, still called headlamps in 1937. These ride the arched fender thats tempered by the straight hood vents which pick up the trim of the grille in a stunning presentation. The profile is missing a few things from the 37 brochures. Its been streamlined by the removal of the door handles, the bumpers are gone, and the car has been nosed which smooths the spot where a hood ornament would be. All of these street rodding techniques create a seemingly seamless car with panels that lack hardware or brightwork distractions, and the paint shines through, interrupted only by a modest pinstripe. The back of the car is a wonderfully clean portrait that reveals the shape of the car and frenched taillights blend in with the red panels while dual twin tip exhaust fit in the sculpted valance beautifully. Weld Prostar wheels add some silver shine and imperfections are limited to a crack and dent near the left taillight, some uneven paint, a few bubbles, and a scratch on the trunk lid. Interior Beige pleated leather panels occupy the door lowers while smooth panels with billet door pull occupy the top, and with the carpeted low, its all looking clean. Fantastically modern leather bucket seats live up front with electric controls and thigh support pads up front. The patterns repeat on the rear bench with seating for two who will have more than enough headroom and legroom in this nicely coordinated space. That beige leather is picked up on the rim of the Lecarra steering wheel which leads to the clean, body colored dash with metal rimmed Dolphin gauges that span the dashboard. On the far right is an AM/FM/CD player and below it all, the A/C controls for the Vintage Air system. The open floor is covered with plush, tan carpet and theres attention to detail in the headliner where a wide band has accent lines that run the length of the car. The trunk is nicely finished with carpet and leather and even the spare tire is wrapped in matching materials. Drivetrain Rebuilt less than 100 miles ago, a shiny 350ci V8 lives under the hood and now has cylinders bored .030 over, an RV cam installed, new timing set, and a balanced crank. An Edelbrock 650cfm 4-barrel carburetor fuels the engine and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission sends power to the 10 bolt rear axle. Power brakes are onboard with discs in front and drums in the rear. Ceramic coated headers start the exhaust process in fine fashion under the hood where a show quality engine bay is found. Undercarriage Super clean underneath where the chrome differential cover and polished oil pan add a little bling. The dual exhaust flows over the tubular frame and encounters Flowmaster mufflers before exiting out back. A Mustang II front end handles suspension duties up front while leaf springs carry the back. Minimal surface rust, no dripping oil, and no grease build up on this clean underside. Drive-Ability The beautifully appointed interior is a nice place to operate this vehicle from and the long windows make for good visibility. Meanwhile, the 350 starts right up, sounds great, and propels this car forward with good power and acceleration. Tracking is straight, turn in is well done, and braking is on point for this modernized 37. All functions work on this well done car. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. This is a standout street rod with nearly flawless execution and an interior that wasnt just cobbled together. This was done at obvious expense, and it shows. We suspect that if youre on this page, you know what youre looking for and recognize a good build when you see one. And youre not alone so hop on the horn and let your interest be known!
