Following in the tradition of previous Ford factory built Mustang race cars like the 1968 Cobra Jet, the Boss 429 and the FR500S Mustang Challenge car, Ford Racing and AAI started work on a production run of 50 Cobra Jet Mustangs in January 2010. A four-barrel carburetor, dual exhaust with chrome tips, and chambered mufflers provide the right sound and performance, while the battery has been neatly relocated to the finished trunk.
The chassis features a Mustang IIstyle front suspension with rack-and-pinion steering, coil springs up front and leaf springs in the rear, all integrated into a modified stock frame for a smooth, predictable ride. Power brakes with front discs and rear drums provide reliable stopping power.
Inside, the coupe truly shines with a beautiful red leather interior and matching carpet, showing excellent fit and finish. A classic banjo steering wheel fronts a full SpeedHut gauge package, including a GPS speedometer, volts, oil pressure, fuel level, and water temperature, along with a separate SpeedHut tachometer. Comfort is enhanced with air conditioning using Vintage-style controls, and entertainment comes via an under-dash AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo.
