Classic Car Overview

1936 Ford Model 68 Deluxe Fordor Sedan

Why This Car Is Special

The Ford Model Model 68 Deluxe Fordor was an update on Fords V8-powered Model 40A, the companys main product. Introduced in 1935, the Model 48 was given a cosmetic refresh annually and those looks vaulted the company ahead of rival Chevrolet for the sales crown that year, with 820,000 sold.

The restored example 1936 Ford Fordor we have at Skyway Classics is a factory correct example of how simple the looks of the suicide doors makes this sedan into a cult vehicle.

Style and function were at the top priority of production back then and this car is a wonderful example of those 30s era automobiles.

Fords flathead V8 really needs no introduction, with this one being a correct 221 cubic inch version with the stock carburetor, wears proper paint, coolant hoses, manifold, all the correct air cleaner assembly, with the Flathead in a clean and detailed engine compartment.

The three-speed manual gearbox shifts nicely and the car tracks straight. The undercarriage, while original, remains in good order.

Beautiful black spoke wheels with chrome center hubcaps ride on black sidewall tires to complete the look.

Interior

When you sit in the drivers seat, the tan tweed bench seat interior is stunning with its body colored grey dashboard and factory correct gauges that look and function beautifully. The rear seat looks just as nice as does the trunk area.

It has all the correct and functioning switches, lights, door handles, side panels, tan carpets and headliner are perfect.

Exterior

The 1936 saw only minor changes from the previous year but they make a huge difference.

The hood became longer and more pointed, and the grille was given a sharper V-shape. The spare tire is mounted outside on this sedan.

The fit and finish are great with excellent body lines, great chrome and grille, hood ornament, and side mirrors, compliment the classy grey paint scheme.
