1936 Chevrolet Ton Pickup For consignment, a 1936 Chevrolet ton pickup truck showing 55,868 miles, but the true miles are unknown on this street rodded example now housing a V8 up front atop a Mustang II front end. This truck is clean inside and out and represents the promise of some good times this car show season! Exterior Cant miss it red adorns every inch of the truck from the tall 1936 grille and headlight buckets back to the flat tailgate and valance. Its not without some special touches though, including a pinstriping flourish on the radiator shell, a painted bowtie on that same nose, a painted silver stripe with red and green pinstripes and bowties encircling the cabin, and CLASS OF 36 on the tailgate along with more pinstripe designs. A bowtie also adorns the steel step plates on the wide running boards which connect the rounded fenders lowered over 15-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with widely staggered size tires. An oval rear window looks over wood planks and stainless rails in the bed along with a wooden travel trunk to carry some goods. Imperfections include numerous touches up chips, some random scratches, and some damage on the body below the radiator. Interior Simple pleated tan leather door panels include some orange stitching and present cleanly on both doors while the front buckets come together like a flat bench with a padded armrest in the center for both occupants to share along with the continuation of orange stitching, all in clean condition. A wood rimmed, banjo style steering wheel provides a glossy handle that leads to a red dash with VDO white faced gauges and an added tachometer below. Billet style knobs top all stalks on the column including the shifter and a blue Chevrolet bowtie is front and center. Meanwhile gray loop carpet provides a nice floor covering and tan suede leather covers the ceiling and cab walls. Drivetrain Lots of polished metal dress up the 350ci in the engine compartment which is open for viewing. The engine is topped by an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor and is mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic sending power to the 10 bolt rear axle. Power brakes are supplied with discs up front and drums in the back. Undercarriage Driver quality underneath with some surface rust, residual oil and some on the rear differential, some spray foam, a piece of cracked wood where a screw entered, and a rough seam. The dual exhaust includes glasspack style mufflers, then exits out the back via big oval chrome tips. Mustang II makes up the front suspension with leaf springs taking up the rear. Drive-Ability A pump of the gas and a turn of the key and the trusty 350 with a 1969-1979 engine casting number fires right up, emitting a healthy exhaust note that sounds beefy but wont wake most neighbors. The lowered street rod provides a comfortable cabin and great forward visibility with side mirrors to assist in the back. This is a nicely built truck and as a result, all functions operate as one would expect.
