Classic Cars: Know Where to Look for Rust Before Buying

If you're thinking about buying a classic car, you should know where to look for rust and how extensive the repair might be.

Classic Car Overview

SALE PENDING !!! THANKS THOMAS !!! Up for sale here we have a full size Gatsby Cabriolet tribute/recreation built by Gatsby Coachworks Ltd. in California, factory built, pretty big and heavy car, not your average kit car. The Gatsby Cabriolet was built to represent the "Gatsby Era" of the 1920's and early 30's which was a highpoint for automotive design as manufacturers like Duesenberg, Auburn, Rolls-Royce, etc... started offering more luxurious models then ever before.
This particular Gatsby Cabriolet was designed after the famous and elegant Auburn Esque body style, is powered by a rebuilt low mile 350 V8 Chevy engine with a four barrel carburetor paired with an automatic 400 Turbo transmission, and dual exhaust with Borla mufflers, it was recently mechanically restored and the powertrain is in good working order. Brand new aluminum radiator and a second electric fan installed in front of the radiator in order to avoid overheating with an on/off switch installed under the dash. The engine bay is nicely chrome dressed and super clean, a very special engine bay that you won't find on any other Gatsby. A mix of steel and fiberglass body, the two piece hood and the doors are solid metal. This vehicle is fully loaded and packed with many custom prewar goodies such as the dual spares that feature stainless steel covers, ornamental exhaust pipes on both sides, special running boards made with metal molding that will continue on rear fenders - front and back, prewar big headlights, cowl lamps and spotlights, polished aluminum bumpers, trumpet horns, solid flying lady hood ornament, luggage rack, pin-striping, ultra rare custom engravings all around on the chrome, and much more. You won't find another Gatsby with this attention to detail and with so many customizations. The black interior is nice and clean, seats are in excellent condition matching the black carpet and door panels with a new custom wood dash, New Dolphin Classic Gauges in working condition - except the speedometer, the cable might not be connected, but again new Dolphin Classic speedometer as well as the rest of the gauges. Beautiful billet banjo steering wheel matching the dash, Blaupunkt stereo and speakers, etc... The exterior paint (while still nice and shiny) is in old condition and has minor flaws all around, touch ups, rock chips, minor cracks, etc... A car like this with a new paint job would easily sell for over 50K... and of course to build one these days will definitely exceed 120K. The chrome is in good condition, no rust or pitting, the package of six real wire wheels are nice and shiny with gold plated spokes, radial white wall tires in excellent shape. The convertible top is in old condition old but still functional and in good working order and the windows roll up nicely, clean and pretty spacious trunk, like new black carpet in the trunk compartment. Clean title in hand, titled as Year: 1970, Model: Gatsby Cabriolet. If you are in the market for something like this, then this is your chance to own the most special Gatsby we've had to date !!! If you want to finance this car call J.J. Best Banc Co. (800 872 1965).
