Classic Car Overview

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys Hershey event, 8 - 9 October 2025.
Offered Without Reserve $25,000 - $30,000 USD

  • Nicely detailed, period-correct presentation in a rare body style
  • One of only 6,192 half-ton examples produced for the model year
  • Legendarily durable drivetrain
  • Previously of the Richard L. Burdick Collection
  • Equal parts versatile and charming

The 1934 model year brought a dedicated front end and cab for Chevrolet trucks. This new design featured a longer half-ton wheelbase and a more robust frame. Steel chassis and bodies with novel Turret Top construction replaced the previous timber frame and bodywork. Output from the 206-cubic-inch inline six-cylinder engine also increased.

For 1935, the half-ton trucks referred to as the EB series changed little, apart from a slight gain in power. The optional canopy bed is said to have been especially popular with vendors and grocery stores to display and deliver produce to local communities. True beasts of burden, many of these trucks were worked into the ground, and thus are rarely seen today.

The example offered here appears to be solid and authentic, having underwent a detailed cosmetic restoration years ago in period-correct colors. The interior is handsomely finished in black vinyl and appears in fine order, as do the canvas side curtains that conceal the rear cargo area. A single side-mounted spare and cream-painted wire wheels dress up the presentation.

Previously part of the acclaimed collection of Richard L. Burdick, the Chevrolet joined another fine collection in 2018, where it remained on display within a climate-controlled facility.

Few vehicles today offer the number of possibilities of this charming truck ideal for a collection, to promote ones business, or for simply driving to the farmers market. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/auctions/hf25/.
