1934 Ford Model 40

The cars of the 1930s had plenty of style and character. But one neednt buy a Packard or Rolls to enjoy the aura of motoring in that bygone era. By the mid-1930s, Ford was offering a V8 engine in its cars, a powerful engine option that previously was limited to luxury brands. They also offered plenty of styles, including a sporty convertible (Cabriolet) with a rumble seat to let a few more passengers join in on the open-air cruising fun.



Here we have an incredible, award-winning example of a 1934 Ford Model 40 Cabriolet, complete with rumble seat. Look it over and youll be amazed at the excellent condition of its arrow-straight and rock-solid body and underside, not to mention the eye-catching Apple Green paint. The various chrome accents are brilliant, and along with the wire wheels and wide-whitewall tires, make for some serious curbside appeal.



Inside, youll note the handsome tan upholstery along with the wood-tone accents on the dash and doors as well as the elegant instrument panel and gauges. The rumble seat is surprisingly comfortable, provided its two passengers are not too big. The convertible top is likewise in fine shape and features contrasting brown piping as well as a small glass (not plastic) rear window.



Under the hood is the iconic flathead V8 that provides plenty of smooth power thats sent to the rear wheels via an easy-shifting 3-speed manual transmission. Not much beats the fun out of cruising top-down on a nice day with the rumble seat occupied. This classic Ford hits the trifecta as it runs, drives and looks fantastic. The cherry atop this Sunday is that this incredible example had earned an AACA Junior 1st place award, July 1983 in Minnesota and has been painstakingly preserved before and since.
