Classic Car Overview

1933 Plymouth Coupe When he saw the success of Chevrolet and Ford in the lower priced vehicle market, Walter Chrysler knew he needed to introduce some competition. That is when the Plymouth line of vehicles was born in 1928. His idea proved to be a success as Plymouth continued to be the high volume seller for Chrysler until the 90s after which the brand was dropped in 2001. In fact, Plymouth likely saved Chrysler as they were on the verge of the great depression in the 30s during which a lot of automakers went out of business. Plymouth was sold through all Chrysler divisions and rose to number 3 in sales among all cars. Not many of these cars survived from the 30s so seeing an all original 33 Plymouth like this one is pretty special. It is very unique and really stands out parked next to Fords and Chevys. This is one of those cars where you are likely going to be the only 30s Plymouth if you take it to a car show. It is the PCXX Rumble Seat Coupe model which they made 2,497 of with an original sell price of $485. The PC is the shorter wheel base model with the PD indicating the larger wheel base. It is painted a two tone Burgundy and Black paint which suits the car very well. The car has very unique body lines and in rear is nicely accented where the Black runs down 2 bodylines next to the rumble seat lid. The body is all original steel throughout. It has very nice chrome front and rear bumpers which have a great shine. This year model incorporate a slightly slanted grill with a hidden radiator cap under a chrome plated radiator shell. The front windshield pops out correctly, the cowl works, and the rear window rolls down which are all original features. Another cool original feature is the single left rear taillight with a vintage 1933 glass reflector set up on the right. The car rides on its original wire wheels and hubcaps with a rear mounted spare in a painted to match Burgundy/Black cover. The wide white bias ply tire suit the car well and are brand new. Under the 4 piece louvered steel hood sits its original Straight 6 Flathead motor. These motors were introduced in 33 to compete with the Chevrolet and Ford motors. It was very popular and variations continued to be used until 1959. The motor runs well with no issues. It is a 6 volt system with positive ground and the battery is brand new. These motors featured hardened exhaust valve seats, full pressure lubrication to all bearings and featured thin shell replacable bearing inserts. Also new for this year was hydraulic brakes, the redesigned suspension with tubular front axle and "silent-U" spring shackles. The transmission is a 3 speed manual which shifts well. The interior is done in Gray and features a bench seat. The dash has its original layout with its original gauge setup in a chrome bezel and all the gauges are working. The shifter comes through the floor next to the emergency brake handle. In back the rumble seat is done in Black. This is a very unique classic that yo
