Classic Car Overview

1932 Oldsmobile L32 Sedan Available now from our consignment halls, a former member of a prestigious private barn find collection, a 4 door version of the touring sedan. She shows fairly nicely with slight rust on some seams and a few dents and dings. The interior is pure 1930s with mohair and overstuffed seating. The engine is unrestored but is all there. Overall fair condition awaiting some TLC. NO TITLE-SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY Exterior A dark blue respray that has been put on several years ago, bathes the metal on this 4 door car. Body panels show fairly straight with consistent gaps. The rounded exterior fenders have a few dents, and show extensive pitting from previous surface rust damage. Up front is a shield styled chrome surrounded radiator cover and grille in black. Flanking on either side are big round headlights holding on to each fender with a dual curved bar in chrome. On the bottom is a bumper stretching across the front and the condition of all this chrome is fair with dimpling, dulling, and pitting. As we move towards the passenger compartment, a single pane of windshield glass picks up where the hood ornament and cowl centerline leaves off. Doors are in decent condition with no pitting or rust and these utilize a central B pillar for their latches. Rounded fenders are sharing the edges of a running board on both sides. Some rust is noted where these running boards meet the rear fenders. On the back is a trunk rack in black which hovers just above the rear bumper. Taillights on metal stalks hang off of each rear fender on the edge. 17-inch wood spoked wheels and 2 spare tires are seen when moving around this car. It appears the typical canvas insert panel for the top has been replaced by sheet metal as one can witness the weld line encircling the panel on the roof. Interior Uncovered door panels reveal the wood plank and metal construction of the era. Interesting to see how simply it was assembled and to visualize the inner workings. A saddle covered vinyl front bench sits in front of the dash, which replaces an original mohair front bench. In back is an original mohair bench which has long since rotted away and just a bit of the cloth is left with mostly stuffing and springs. If you look closely you can still see some of the luxury once surrounded by the pillar lighting corded pulls and massive leg room for the rear passengers. Rear doors give us a hint of the door panels which were covered in mohair. Wood lath covers the headliner which is the underside of the previously stated metal panel. Drivetrain Under the large hood we see the factory specified 240ci inline 8 cylinder engine. This has plenty of surface rust and a 2-barrel carburetor on top. A 3 speed manual transmission is on back and turns the 4.56 geared rear axle. Undercarriage A coating of surface rust is seen on the frame and floor pans as well as suspension and rockers. There are a few small areas of invasive rust and former repairs to said rust, however, the car remains structurally sound. The running boards have been undercoated. Leaf springs and drum brakes are all around. Definitely a barn find which will need the capable hands of a restorer and some extra TLC. Its all there though, (save for the rear seat), and one definitely has the beginnings of a classic in this Oldsmobile L32.
