The Pierce-Arrow Motor Car Company was one of Americas most prestigious luxury automobile manufacturers, celebrated for uncompromising quality, refined engineering, and distinctive styling. Founded in Buffalo, New York, Pierce-Arrow earned its reputation by producing automobiles favored by captains of industry, heads of state, and even the White House. Throughout the 1920s and early 1930s, the company continually refined its automobiles while maintaining the craftsmanship and exclusivity that made the marque synonymous with prestige. Introduced for 1931, the Model 42 represented one of Pierce-Arrows finest offerings, riding on a substantial 142-inch wheelbase and powered by the companys smooth and dependable 385-cubic-inch L-head inline eight-cylinder engine. Delivering effortless performance through a three-speed manual transmission, the Model 42 combined quiet operation with remarkable durability. Buyers could select from an extensive range of elegant factory body styles, making the Model 42 an ideal choice for discerning motorists seeking exceptional luxury, commanding presence, and the renowned quality that defined Pierce-Arrow during its golden era.

A rare and attractive factory-bodied Pierce-Arrow, this handsome Model 42 carries known history among Pierce-Arrow enthusiasts and collectors, including more than two decades of single-family ownership and care from 2000 to 2022. According to the Pierce-Arrow Society, previous custodians include Hollis G. Duke Davenport, Owen Stevens, and G. Lagueux of Quebec, Canada. During prior ownership, a comprehensive restoration was performed by the late Pierce-Arrow expert Al Morkunas of The Motorcar Co. in Staunton, Virginia, whose credits include the restoration and maintenance of the ex-Woodrow Wilson Pierce-Arrow for the Presidential Library and Museum. The restoration of this Model 42 was completed in 2013 and, as offered, it remains nicely preserved and maintained with most recent attention to the fuel system.

Finished in an elegant teal green over taupe leather upholstery with a matching folding soft top, the Pierce presents as an exceptionally handsome example. It is further enhanced by an impressive array of period accessories, including a rear folding windscreen, twin accessory driving lights, the iconic Pierce-Arrow Archer radiator mascot, dual external trumpet horns, dual side-mounted spare tires topped with a driver mirrors, wind wings, and a folding rear luggage rack.

A Classic Car Club of America (CCCA) Full Classic, this lovely Pierce-Arrow will grant its next caretaker access into an array of events and tours, including marque gatherings and shows. With its handsome factory coachwork, ownership history, and complete restoration by a Pierce-Arrow expert, this distinguished Pierce-Arrow Model 42, with its substantial 142-inch wheelbase, represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire one of the great American Classics.
