Classic Car Overview
1931 Ford Model A Coupe For consignment, a 1931 Ford Model A coupe with a title verified 3,060 actual miles. This street rod version now packs a 305ci V8 from the mid 80s with headers and a 4-barrel carburetor. Exterior A dramatic pattern of brown, beige, and tan catches your eye like few 1931 Fords will do. The soft, landau-like canvas roof looms over a brown hood and cabin pillars, augmented by thin flames on the door. Below, smooth tan panels flow to seamless running boards that take in the elliptical fenders over color matched wheels. There are very few interruptions to the beige and out back, only a thin band of circular red lights and a third brake light break the pattern while quad exhaust tips are center exits. Though both ends carry 15-inch wheels, the tires are widely staggered, creating the ideal stance for this street rod, and its exposed engine provides just the right level of intended intimidation. Imperfections include some cracks in the paint, scuffs, and scratches. Interior Our three colored pattern returns on the inside where the door panel is adorned with flowing designs and graphics in leather, showing a touch of age but fully intact. The same could be said about the bench seat which has been well loved but is well coordinated with the surrounding environment and has a bit of wear on the central insert. A banjo steering wheel fronts a body colored dash panel with instrument cluster situated in the center featuring AutoMeter vintage style gauges with gold trim rings over a Vintage Air unit and AM/FM/CD radio. Taupe carpet covers the floor from which the Lokar shifter rises, speakers embedded in the footwells, and billet pedal present to the driver. A smooth, beige headliner is above, capping off a well coordinated interior with a warm vibe and A/C to cool things down. Drivetrain Our exposed engine is a somewhat showy 305ci V8 with a Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor, coated headers, and chrome valve covers. It is mated to a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission that routes power the Ford 9 in back. Undercarriage Super clean conditions are found underneath where the master cylinder powers the front disc and rear drums brakes. Dual exhaust flows straight through glasspack style mufflers on their way to two splitters that create four exhaust tips. Suspension has a four bar system front and rear with transverse leaf springs up front and coilovers in back. Drive-Ability The comfy cabin provides just the right amount of modern touches so you dont feel like youre living in 1931. While it was an exciting time to live and own cars, they were also in raw form compared to todays cars. Soft surfaces and a complete array of gauges adds to our ride that has good power, decent handling and a fantastic exhaust note. This well sorted street rod benefits from all functions working as they should and we trot this 31 back to the mall. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. This is a good looking street rod with clean lines, a modernized interior, and a classic stance. The rumble from the exhaust is one to note and the ability to travel with cold air in the cabin and the tunes of your choice blasting from the radio is a hobbyists dream. Dont wait on this dramatic presentation, it checks all the boxes for those shopping for a nice 31.
