Classic Car Overview

1931 Ford Model A Roadster For consignment, a 1931 Ford Model A Roadster with a title verified 104,721 actual miles, only about 5,000 of those miles since the cars restoration in the late 1990s. A complete record of the restoration including detailed work done on the engine will accompany this fine automobile. Exterior An original Ford color, Stone Brown, was used to refresh the body of the car and properly combined with black fenders and each of the waterfall pieces are connected by the wide running board. Its topped by a tan canvas top, trimmed in medium brown and featuring a glass rear window and matching side curtains. As a roadster, there are no roll up windows, so these side curtains afford riders protection from the elements. A Tacoma Cream stripe runs through accenting on the body, complemented by same color 19-inch wire wheels sporting white wall tires. The car looks great from every angle, which is part of the appeal of Model As and the reason active clubs around the country still enjoy enthusiastic participation. The metalwork and paint are very nice on this car with a few imperfections noted on the older restoration. That includes various chips, scratches, and cracking paint. Interior Saddle vinyl is a wonderful combination with the Stone Brown exterior, and covers the inner doors with a simple, square stitched pattern and the front bench with a natural looking grain and wrinkle effect. The rumble seat presents in the same material and pattern and like the rest, is in great shape. Up front, a clean 4 spoke steering wheel leads to an equally clean dashboard, painted in body color and housing the instrument cluster in a ribbed metal cover in the center of the dash. The spotless interior continues on the floor from which the shifter and handbrake rise, and on which a tight knit brown carpet resides with saddle trim that matches the footwell walls and upholstery throughout. Wood frames contrast with the tan canvas above our heads while polished metal frames the windscreen. Drivetrain Behind the engine covers, a very clean and restored 201ci inline four cylinder rated at 40 horsepower, fueled by a 1-barrel carburetor and set into motion via a 3-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels and 3.78 gears. Mechanical drum brakes are found on front and rear wheels. Undercarriage The restoration has held up well underneath as well where all parts are clean and free of surface rust which only appears on the exhaust, a single unit going through a stock style muffler and terminating under the car. Suspension consists of transverse leaf springs front and rear. We note a bit of residual fluid on the bottom of the transmission. Drive-Ability Our consignor mentions the car runs beautifully and hell get no argument from us as we adjust spark and throttle, start it up, and roll merrily along on our flat test loop. A comfortable and clean cabin awaits riders and while rear visibility is limited by the top, forward and side visibility is not. Of course, we might save this one for top down days where the skys the limit! The headlights and tail lights are not working, which our consignor attributes to a faulty relay located on the steering column. All other functions work as intended on this vehicle thats approaching its centenarian year. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
