Ford Racing built 50 Cobra Jet Mustangs at Ford vendor facilities.

Lights! Cameras! Cars!

One thing that the crew at Volo Auto Museum understands is that context is everything. They have gone the extra mile to display each movie car with memorabilia and signage that brings the scene to life. The museum features actual movie props such as Tom Cruise's racing seat from Days Of Thunder.

Classic Car Overview

1931 Ford Vicky Street Rod

In 1992, at the Street Rod Nationals, the owner purchased this car as sort of a project. It was fully drivable but he wanted it to be HIS car so he set about making changes.

The first was the suspension - in front sits a Heidt's Super-ride II IFS with Wilwood 4 pot power disc brakes and a rack and pinion steering set up. In the back, attached to the custom square tube, blue metallic frame, is a Corvette IRS set up, with chromed drum brakes.

The fiberglass body (with steel doors) was block sanded and repainted in GM Orchid Mist. The entire underbody is lined in polished stainless steel. On the roof, Mercedes Benz cloth was used for the 2.5" chopped top covering. To finish things off the car was pinstriped and accented with brushed aluminum mirrors and front "bumper".

The engine that was in the car, a 77 350 from a C-20, was kept but dressed up with HPC coated headers, billet and chrome goodies, a polished aluminum Edelbrock Performer manifold, Weber 4BBL carb, Accel ignition, GM polished aluminum Air Conditioner compressor, aluminum flex fan and an electric pusher fan in front of the radiator. The exhaust flows out through a custom stainless exhaust and the power/torque flows out through a GM TH350 auto trans and limited slip Corvette rear diff.

Inside the interior was fully upgraded with orchid leather and tweed, with a deep burgundy carpet (on top of Cool-It insulation). The grey leather wrapped steering wheel is mounted to a GM tilt column. The dash was molded to match the Stewart-Warner gauges and side AC /Heat ports, an overhead console was fitted to hold the Clarion AM/FM/Cass stereo and EQ. Under the back seat sit all the electronics/fuses, battery and the aluminum fuel cell. The doors open by solenoid under each door and house power windows, which can be actuated from under the door as well. They move very slowly going up, that may be due to the condition of the battery, which will be replaced.

Halogen headlights light the way and teardrop-blue dot tail lights adorn the rear body work. American Racing polished aluminum 5 spoke wheels are wrapped with Michelin rubber - 186/65/R15 in front and 215/75/R15 out back.

Most of the work was completed by 2005. Reportedly the engine was rebuilt by the previous owner and only 15,000 miles have been put on the car/engine since that point.

The car has been featured in both Street Rodder and StreetScene magazines.

The owner is a real car enthusiast with other cars in his collection, unfortunately, due to some sever health issues, he will not be able to drive again and this beauty has been chosen to leave the fleet. The car sat for the last 6 years but with enough juice, we easily got her to fire and run strong. She rides great, runs and drives well.

She does have some minor nicks and a small scratch or two (all shown in the photos).

Overall, she presents very well and I'd call her a high 3/low 2 car.

This car will get thumbs up and very probably awards even today, at local shows and cruise nights.

The family is asking $36,000 for this awesome, Orchid Mist street rod.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to arrange a time to see her in person or just to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest!
