Classic Car Overview

1930 Model A Speedster- Fresh Build- Show and Cruise Ready! This 1930 Model A Speedster tribute is a testament to the creativity and craftsmanship of its builder (our seller), who began with a bare chassis and motor and transformed it into a one-of-a-kind machine (with less than 50 miles since completion). Drawing inspiration from the legendary Model A Speedsters of the early 20th century, this tribute captures the essence of vintage speed and style while incorporating modern upgrades for enhanced performance and reliability. Chassis Modifications: The chassis underwent significant modifications to achieve a lower, more aggressive stance. The frame was dropped 6 inches at both the front and rear, and the front axle and spring were moved forward by approximately 6 inches, giving the Speedster a sleeker, more dynamic profile. To further refine the ride quality, three leaves were removed from the rear spring, compensating for the lighter body weight. The chassis also features new rear tube shocks and front friction shocks, ensuring a smooth and controlled ride. The braking system has been fully rebuilt with new cast iron brake drums, providing reliable stopping power. Body Construction: The body of this Speedster is a custom-built steel boat tail design, meticulously crafted over a 3/4-inch square tubing frame. The boat tail shape is a nod to the classic race cars of the era, blending aerodynamics with timeless aesthetics. The interior is fully customized, featuring movable bucket seats for driver and passenger comfort. The dashboard is a work of art, with an engine-turned aluminum finish and a 1936 Ford speedometer mounted on an inverted and shortened John Deere tractor dash. Additional gauges for water temperature and oil pressure keep the driver informed, while a dash-mounted battery shut-off switch and turn signals add convenience and safety. Engine and Performance: The heart of this Speedster is a rebuilt Model A engine, upgraded with a balanced crankshaft and a touring camshaft for improved performance. A lightened flywheel enhances acceleration response, while dual downdraft carburetors ensure efficient fuel delivery. The engine also features a leakproof water pump, a recored radiator, and a custom exhaust system. The aluminum high-compression (6.0) Winfield head provides a significant boost in power, while the upgraded ignition system with modern points and a 12-volt alternator ensures reliable starting and operation. Historical Context: The original Ford Model A Speedsters emerged during the late 1920s and early 1930s as stripped-down, high-performance versions of the standard Model A. Enthusiasts and racers would often remove the heavy stock body and replace it with lighter, more aerodynamic bodies to reduce weight and increase speed. These Speedsters became popular in amateur racing and hill-climb events, embodying the spirit of American ingenuity and the pursuit of speed. This 1930 Model A Speedster tribute pays homage to that tradition, combining the classic appeal of the original Speedsters with modern engineering to create a truly unique and exhilarating driving experience. $24,950 VIN: A2723494
