1930 Ford Model A Coupe Henry Ford was always convinced that people should satisfy themselves with nothing more than a good, simple and economical car. At the price of great efforts, his inner circle finally succeed in eroding his stubbornness and, in May 1927, after having produced more than 15,000,000 Model Ts since 1908, Ford closes his plants for many months in order to retool his assembly lines for the production of his next legend: the Model A. The latter will ultimately be produced in 5,000,000 copies between 1928 and 1931. This new miracle is equally attributable to Henry and his son Edsel. Henry will dedicate himself to the mechanical aspects and Edsel will bring a whole new look to the design of the Model A. The Model T was nicknamed TIN LIZZIE the Model A will be known as the BABY LINCOLN. No new automobile has ever been so expected in History. The competition sharply felt the hurt of this waiting period (as much as tens of thousands of Ford employees which were temporarily laid off) since many were putting off their purchase of a new car in order to see what Henry was going to pull out of his hat this time. He literally made a lady out of a lizzy, so we offer you for consignment a 1930 Ford Model A mild visually Hot Rod. New amenities, new interior, new engine, just turn the key and unleash this Lady Exterior Two tone Silver and White cover this all steel bodied example. This paint job accentuates the wonderful lines of this car which have been retained. Just the right colors in just the right places it presents beautifully. Paint shows some patina and a few faults, possibly due to an earlier build. Some notable but less obvious changes are the use of flush mount door handles, 2 saddle fuel tanks with switch selector, a power antenna, and a trailer hitch receiver conveniently hidden under the license plate. Also noted is the pristine rumble seat in gray square tweed cloth, with gray vinyl bolsters, and nifty white piping. If you are putting your mother-in-law back there she might as well be comfortable! Interesting midcentury modern wheel covers in a starburst crossbar pattern cover red steel wheels wrapped in wide whites... possibly from a Mercury? Interior Swinging open the doors we are met up front with an eye shaped dash, in sprayed gray metal, imbedded with white faced vintage style gauges, and black pointers. Directly below this metal eye is a covering of felting within which we note a few toggles. A tilt steering wheel, electric wipers, power windows, and a new AM/FM/CD radio is installed into a homemade shelf in the front of the headliner, also covered in the felting, and nice and tight. Buckets match the rumble seat motif, and sitting proudly between them on the gray carpet covered floor is a B&M automatic inline shifter. Drivetrain A peek through the side panels reveals a perfectly fitting 355ci Chevrolet engine (Whaaaat?!). It presents beautifully and is adorned with Edelbrock valve covers, a 4-barrel carburetor, and is backed up by a 200R4 4-speed overdrive automatic transmission. Headers lead their way rearward past a Ford 9 rear. Undercarriage The original frame has been replaced with an Outlaw steel square tube structure and it appears like new. Coil springs are upfront, as well as rack and pinion power steering, and power front disc brakes. Coil over rear suspension and we have it covered structurally, and for a smooth ride. A meticulous build, tastefully done, no gaudy colors just neutral beauty, which retains the original exterior shape, carefully painted in two tone to accentuate the exterior lines. Same good taste abounds in the square tweed and white piping seating and dash in solid gray. This is truly a driver, a turnkey hot rod, but not blatantly hit you over the head so. In fact, if it werent for the early 50s hubcaps, one would barely know the difference.
