Classic Car Overview
Walter P. Chrysler introduced DeSoto in the summer of 1928, the car was named to honor Hernando DeSoto - the16th century Spaniard who discovered the Mississippi River and had covered more north American territory than any other early explorer. The first '28 and '29 DeSoto Models had straight six cylinder engines but in 1930 at the top-of-the-line was the DeSoto CF Deluxe, otherwise known as "DeSoto Straight Eight" ..... here was a bigger car with a bigger wheelbase and the kind of inline eight cylinder costumers expected to see in a luxury car. DeSoto promised customers " A waste reserve of power when you need it. " .... and with 70 HP and 207.7 cubic inches, the DeSoto Eight Delivered !!! The introduction of the straight-eight engine in the 1930 DeSoto was a notable development, as it was the first eight-cylinder engine produced by the Chrysler Corporation. This engine was paired with the three-speed gearbox, which was a common offering for American manufacturers at the time. The DeSoto for sale here comes in 3 Tone Color combination, pictures were taken in the sun and also in the shade, shiny chrome all around the vehicle, solid artillery wooden wheels and five new Firestone Classic white wall tires, DeSoto logo hub caps and DeSoto logo step plates installed on the solid oak running boards matching the artillery wooden wheels. The Straight Eight motor is in excellent working order as well as the manual transmission, runs, drives & stops as it should, solid undercarriage and no rust at all, super clean engine compartment, and super clean and spacious red interior matching the exterior, working headlights, working cowl lamps and rear light, working horn - beautiful vintage sound, good glass, windshield and rollup windows, this prewar automobile is ready to go to a new home and win some trophies at classic car shows, older restoration but still very presentable, always garaged and well maintained. Clean title in hand, titled and registered in Arizona as 1930 DeSoto Eight.
