Classic Car Overview

1929 Reo Flying Cloud $33,995

Mooresville, NC Brown · 5.7 LITER GM LT-1 · 1,713 miles
Looking for something unusual? Check out this 1929 REO Flying Cloud street rod. In 1905, Ransom E. Olds parted ways with his brothers to start his own vehicle company. Barred from using the Oldsmobile brand, he elected to use his initials as the moniker for his cars and trucks, hence the legendary REO Speedwagon truck line, which some historians claim helped win WW I for the Allies, and a line of passenger vehicles last produced in 1936. This cars all steel body was manufactured by Murray Corporation of America, and features rear suicide doors. The drive train for this remarkably rare REO sedan consists of a strong 5.7 liter GM LT-1 fuel injected engine, coupled to a 4L60E four speed automatic transmission and Camaro rear end with cruising-comfortable gears. A Lokar shifter ensures smooth, positive control of the transmission. Taylor braided stainless steel plug wires and plug boots provide the fire for this smooth running engine. A polished Street and Performance alternator/air/power steering belt system adds some flash while complimenting the rest of the chrome and polished aluminum under the four piece hood, including a chromed oil pan. A complete fuel system overhaul included fuel pump replacement and removal of the gas tank for cleaning and coating. The custom dual exhaust system includes tucked-in headers, throaty mufflers and aluminum exhaust pipe tips. A hidden battery cutoff switch helps ensure that this beauty remains where you parked it. Power steering and GM power disc brakes on all four wheels provide easy handling and sure stops. Cruiser brand wire wheels sparkle while spinning P205/70R15 front tires and P255/70R15s on the rear. This dark chocolate brown head turner features hand-painted pin striping on the exterior and dash, which includes VDO gauges mounted in a custom instrument panel. Ron Francis switches control the vehicles accessories and headlights. The tilt steering column, topped by a Grant Signature Series wooden steering wheel, also sports a SunPro SuperTach II to keep you in rhythm with the pleasing rumble of the pipes. A Vintage Air system keeps you cool as you cruise, while a powered retractable tinted moonroof allows you to enjoy fresh air when desired. The interior of this vehicle includes era-correct front and rear bench seats with seat belts, and a brass footrest and grab bar in the rear seat area. All windows are tinted. Always garaged and covered, never exposed to weather. Maintenance records and receipts are available with this vehicle.
