Classic Car Overview

1924 Willys Other Willys Models $25,000

Red · Other · 23,000 miles
It is super rare, in excellent condition, drives and runs really well, and is a whole lot of fun to display or run in parades. First the rare part. It was manufactured by Willys in 1924 and converted by the Boyer Company to be a fire truck. It is fitted with a Knight Engine. The engine has no valves, and instead the pistons run in sleeves that have ports. Two cams run the sleeves up and down and cause the ports to register to provide the four cycles needed. If you are not familiar with what a Knight engine is all about Google has much more infor for you. There are not all that many running anymore, but this one hums right along. It has it's own very distinctive and mellow sound. Here is the fun part. After over 90 years the wiring in it was a fire going somewhere to happen. (Pun intended) The truck has been re-wired with a modern day harness and stop lights and turn signals added for safety. In addition steel belted radial have been fitted to make it safe to take on the road. Other than those two items the truck is all original. While everyone else is shooing the kids off of their cars, we are inviting them on board to ring the bell and sound the Klaxon and/or siren. Every show we attend, this is one of the most popular cars! This truck was bought by the town of Alta Vista Kansas in 1924 when new. In 1952 it was bought by a car dealer in Topeka Kansas. He used it for Parades and as showpiece. After his death it passed to a Museum in the 1970 era. We bought it from the St. Louis Car Musem about five years ago and have been enjoying it ever since. You are welcome to come here, or send your representative, and inspect it. We will be glad to take you for a ride and even let you run the siren. I would be interested in a trade, however I am not interested in un-finished projects or cars that "Could be worth" a whole lot of money. Your trade would have to be interesting, roadable. and in the same condition that this fire truck is. I am in to Rolls Royce cars, sports cars, pretty much anything old or classic. I am willing to give or take boot to make a trade happen.
