Classic Car Overview
I purchased this 1922 Model T Ford in 2004 from a Ford dealership in Charlotte, NC. They used it as a display in their showroom.
It was and is in good condition appearance wise. No rust, dents or scratches. The fenders and body are steel but at least one of the doors is fiberglass. The top is in good condition as well. There are no tears or worn spots.
The engine, as far as I know, is in good shape with these exceptions. An antique auto mechanic told me the bearings needed to be adjusted. Nevertheless, it started well and ran well. I drove it into my garage in 2006. However, it has been in that garage for the past seventeen years without being started. I tried starting it about a year ago with no luck. It turns over but does not fire. After sitting so long, it probably has a gummed carburetor.
The transmission is in good condition. I recall no slipping bands on any of the gears.
The tires are okay. They are not new by any means but hold air well. They have not been pumped up in fourteen years and are still holding air.
This is not a barn find but it's close. It has been in my garage (barn) for a long time. It was and still is uncovered so it is very dirty. I chose not to wash it because I would have to remove it from the garage and the entrance to the garage is on a hill. Since it is not running, it would be difficult to move it in and out.
This T has a new six volt battery and includes a number of parts and accessories.
I have included photos showing the auto in 2006 in its clean and polished condition. I have also included photos showing it as it is now after being stored in my garage.
Modifications from its original factory condition:
It has a:
Water pump
Mountain brakes
Alternator (six volt)
White-wall tires
At least one fiber glass door
