The car is a original 1913 Model 20 starts, runs and drives manufactured by Hupp from the beginning in 1908 through mid 1913. 1912 was intended to be the last model year of the two seat 20 as the Model 43, longer with a rear seat, replaced it in 1914. The models crossed over in 1913. The car # 15480, indicates this car was produced 3/4 through the last 1/2 year run. The motor number indicates that is is original to the car. This car starts on one or two cranks; a 4 cylinder 26 ( to 30) HP L head gas engine with the original Breeze carburetor and newly rebuilt magneto runs well. Transmission has two forward gears & reverse with a wet clutch and rear in excellent shape. Muffler is original serviceable style in good working condition with O.E.M. muffler bypass ( 30 HP ) in place and operating. The steel chassis parts and carriage spring suspension is solid. Four original wood spoke wheels are in good condition with two new tubes and tires, all tires match. The steel fenders and carriage body are in rough shape solid with some repairable rust. The wood parts are mostly original with the seat base being new, all wood is Ash. The upholstery is not original. Has been re done @ late 1950's. the seat cushion is new. Some bits of the original upholstery remain. The original glass single pane windshield is the 1914 style. Retractable 3 bow top & bows not present, top pivots and rests are present. Optional acetylene headlights and original style gas bottle with gauge and some gas contents in place and operational. Car fitted with auxiliary MC acetylene tank & regulator to operate the headlights safely. Kerosene running lights and tail light functional. Stewart Clark Speedometer and wheel gear in place, cable and pinion gear missing. Car has West Virginia title dated 1953 declaring the car, with the correct car number, to be of 1908 vintage. Car appears to have had a red exterior originally with a black leather interior.
