If youve been paying attention, youll notice that were not the only ones selling Land Cruisers like crazy. Trucks like this 1972 Toyota FJ40 are some of the hottest things on four wheels right now and if this one looks affordable, thats only for the moment. With the right look, the right colors, and the gear, its still a lot of fun off road, but it can also be a wise investment. Apparently the best shape for a 4x4 is a two-box design with sharp corners, and Toyota has been doing it successfully for decades. Youll note that this one wears gorgeous bright red paint for a high-impact look and the flat bodywork is remarkably free of damage. Clearly this one hasnt been crawling through the jungles of Burma, but rather lived an easy life on pavement somewhere in the warm southern US. Typical Toyota build quality means these trucks are virtually indestructible, but just for good measure someone spent quite a bit of time and effort, not to mention money, getting it back into shape. Theres an appropriate shine thats not so glaringly perfect that it looks domesticated, and the simple bumpers, distinctive white-framed grille, and rubber fender flares all reinforce the ready-for-anything vibe. The winch on the front suggests that this truck is up for anything and its hard to beat the look of something that treasures function over form like this FJ. The interior of this FJ has been upgraded as needed to make it functional without losing its character. Aftermarket front buckets are a lot more supportive than the original flat chairs, and that makes a big difference when youre crawling through the mud. Sure, everything is pretty basic inside, but the FJ does it with style, offering a bright red dashboard with black pads, an easy-to-reach shifter, and zero-maintenance floors. The rear bench is newer and theres plenty of room for four inside, plus their gear in the cargo bay. The cleverly designed dash allows easy construction of both right-hand and left-hand drive trucks, with the white instrument panel holding a speedometer and auxiliary gauges that are easy to read. Controls are easy to decipher and everything works as youd expect from a Toyota. The full cage is reassuring when youre in the rough and it comes with a full set of weather equipment, including doors and top. The 3.8-liter inline-six has served on at least six continents over the past 50 years and remains one of the most reliable and sturdy machines yet conceived by man. Its also pleasingly torquey and smooth, so you wont regret sitting behind the wheel for a few hours. The point of the FJ isnt all-out speed, so its fairly stock under the hood, with an aftermarket air cleaner, a giant aluminum radiator, and brightly colored plug wires, but nothing that will interfere with its reputation. Youll note theres a modern dual reservoir master cylinder, which powers a set of front disc brakes, a worthwhile safety upgrade. A 3-speed manual transmission, 2-speed transfer case, and heavy-duty axles provide the go-anywhere part of the FJs resume, and the suspension, while capable, is still civilized enough to use every day on your commute. Theres a recent exhaust that has the right sound and its fitted with big 33x12.50-15 off-road radials on shiny chrome wheels. Make no mistake, FJs are more than just Japanese Jeeps, and the market is speaking. Will this be the one you finally take home for yourself? Call today!
It wasnt the first, but theres certainly an argument to be made that the Toyota Land Cruiser was among the best 4x4s ever built. Legendary reliability, lots of interior space, and surprisingly civilized road manners make vehicles like this 1987 Land Cruiser a great choice if you like your legends to be practical. This Land Cruiser has clearly led an easy life, and while 114,854 miles seems like a lot to a car guy, Toyota Land Cruiser enthusiasts know that this truck is just getting broken-in. As a result, it looks quite good and there are no nasty surprises waiting underneath. You can also be sure that its been properly maintained and thanks to Toyota reliability, itll probably outlast us all. The silver bodywork was repainted a few years ago and still has that utilitarian look that Toyota put to work as their top-of-the-line model, much the way Range Rover did. This one isnt soft, however, and its off-roading credentials are rock-solid. The paint aint too shabby, either, with a nice shine that belies a few years of use, impressive panel fit, and a look that is at home on the road or in the mud. It looks like it could go anywhere, any time, but the chrome bumpers and tinted windows suggest civilization was never far away. Overall, this is one very nicely preserved Land Bruiser. You can see the early stages of the Land Cruisers gentrification inside, where you have handsome cloth bucket seats and all the creature comforts. The seats, carpets, and door panels are in remarkable condition for their age and the headliner shows only some minor stains but no sagging. The dash is typical 80s Japan, Inc., with lots of gray plastic and angular shapes, but we dig the big, round gauges and matching A/C vents that add some contrast. Features like a 4-speed manual transmission would disappear when the Land Cruiser moved up-market, but for now, this one retains its off-road superiority. Theres an AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo in the dash, the A/C has been upgraded to R134a refrigerant, and theres a tilt steering column that makes it quite easy to get comfortable behind the wheel. Second-row space is impressive and the cargo bay is fully carpeted and opens with a unique two-way tailgate that makes for easy loading. Theres also a full-sized spare with a matching cover, which is a nice touch. Toyotas DOHC 4.2 liter inline-six is silky smooth and perhaps thats why it stayed in service for so long. Its quite tractable with the 4-speed manual transmission and pulls the big 4x4 around without seeming to work very hard. Its not fast, but you know itll get you wherever youre going regardless of weather or terrain. It has been properly serviced all its life, and if youre familiar with Toyota Land Cruisers, youll shrug off the mileage because you realize that if you take care of it, this sucker should run for a good, long time to come. The underside is clean, offering all the evidence that you need that a warm climate is where this SUV spent most of its life. The skid plates, axles, springs, and other hardware all look decades younger than they are and even the exhaust system looks pretty good even though its older. Blacked-out wheels are properly-sized for the Land Cruiser and carry 265/75/16 BFGoodrich off-road radials. The preservation on this Land Cruiser is really impressive, and for many of us, it offers just the right balance between luxury and capability. Call now!
If Americas favorite off-roader is the Jeep, then Japans is the Toyota FJ. But this Japanese-American hybrid 1966 Land Cruiser successfully crosses the Pacific with its box-shaped bodywork thats instantly identifiable on six of the seven continents, plus an equally bulletproof driveline that will take it just about anywhere. Its hard to call the FJ styled because its simply the bare minimum required to carry people and gear to inhospitable places. However, thats the appeal, a go-anywhere, do-anything kind of vehicle that has become iconic with its abilities. The light blue paint is older, but combined with the white top and fender flares, it actually looks awesome. Fit and finish are what you get when you go off-roading, with decent but not perfect paint and Toyota build quality that you can still feel when you slam the door. Its got the right look for a vehicle thats used as intended, not relegated to the show field, and we like it a lot better that way. The body is quite solid with no issues in the usual places, and the truck obviously hasnt been beaten to death off-road. Theres a heavy-duty bumper up front ostensibly designed to push large objects out of its way, and a winch means youre always able to get out of a jam. Out back, theres a full-sized spare and a hitch, making this a truck that really can do it all. The interior is nowhere near as bare-bones as youd expect, with comfortable bucket seats and a pair of folding jump seats in back. Sure, all the hard panels like the doors and dash are painted to match the body, but its easy to get comfortable in there for long hauls along the trail. All the controls are original Toyota, including the big steering wheel that makes it easy to put the front wheels exactly where you want them and a column-mounted shifter for the manual gearbox. The factory gauges are still in place, too, and they all seem to work properly to keep an eye on the engines vitals. The white canvas top and doors open up for alfresco motoring, or you can remove them in a matter of minutes to go completely open. Youll probably find theres no better vehicle for tailgating than this! At some point, the original inline-six was yanked and replaced, but the original character and durability is completely unchanged. Matching numbers isnt really a thing with these trucks and the quality of the work means that this off-roader is still just as reliable as it was originally. Clearly a lot of work went into the freshening, as it has a recent tune up, new fuel pump and carburetor, and all new fluids throughout. The industrial-strength air cleaner remains in place and the radiator is big enough for a semi-tractor. Underneath, its 100% Toyota reliability, with original axles fore and aft suspended on a 2-inch lift that looks awesome and adds ground clearance, and with 4.11 gears inside, its zippy around town and capable in the dirt. Cool Blacked-out Ultra Motorsports wheels have an industrial look and carry giant 33x10.5-15 BFGoodrich radials that look like they could climb Everest. Go ahead, take this one out and tear up some dirt, it wont mind. Icons are like that, and with unbeatable reliability, youll always be the first to the top of the hill. Call today!
If youve been looking for a super clean, well-executed FJ build, then this one is worth your time to consider. This vehicle established Toyotas reputation for building strong, reliable vehicles in the 60s because it proved that it is tough enough to handle the harshest conditions about anywhere on the planet. Their well-earned reputation has made them collectible, as well as capable, trucks. Check out this extremely nice example. Looking good in Dove Gray with a white roof and grill, this truck will attract as much attention and admiration pulling up to a fancy restaurant or Broadway show as exotics and stretch limos do, and it can get you back home to that chalet at the top of the mountain without breaking a sweat too. Attention to detail in preparation for the respray of the factory correct paint resulted in a first-class finish. All the headlamps, lenses, and door hardware are new. The windows are clear and the window seals look fresh too. There is a nice chrome step up with diamond plate on the running boards leading into the cab on both sides. Polished aftermarket wheels with BFGoodrich 33x12.50 ATs mounted reinforce the solid look while adding a bit of custom flair to it. There is a mesh grill up front just over a black bumper, a spare tire mounted on another alloy wheel at the rear, and proper badging all around. Open the door and you will find a minimalist chic interior. The paint work on the inside received just as much love as the paint on the outside, which is good because it is the finish of most of the interior. Obviously, that doesnt apply to the seats. The front is a split bench and comfortable for 3 with Dove Gray cloth seating surfaces trimmed in white vinyl. The dash is also trimmed top and bottom in white vinyl. A beefy three spoke steering wheel has the speedometer directly behind it with gauges for oil, temp, fuel, and amps in a row below it. Switches and control knobs are arranged mostly in the center along with an air conditioning unit mounted below the dash to keep you cool on those hot summer days. Clear instructions for operating the transfer case and transmission are screwed to the glovebox door. The back of the truck opens up for easy access and has upholstered fold down seats on each side for a reasonably comfortable ride up the mountain or across the plains. Under the hood you will find the tried and true, tough as nails, 3.9 liter in line 6-cylinder engine. This is the engine that helped build this trucks reputation for durability and is known for it generous amounts of low end power. It was rebuilt as part of the overall restoration and is clean and dry with new, rebuilt, or refurbished components throughout. Needless to say, before it was reinstalled, the engine bay was painted and polished to a high shine too. Power runs back through a 3-speed manual transmission and transfer case to all 4 wheels. As expected, the chassis was also reconditioned properly with the underside of the body as well as the frame rails and all components properly coated in protective paint. New bushings, new fluid lines to the 4-wheel disc brakes with new rotors and calipers, and new hardware throughout make this truck drive like it just rolled out of the showroom. This is a super clean and super thorough build of a highly desirable FJ40. Come on down, take a look. We think you will agree with that assessment, and you may decide to take this one home with you.
The last of the '67 Ford Shelby GT500 EXP notchback coupes known as "Little Red" is set for restoration
Carol Shelby isnt the only person to put a big engine in a little machine. This machine is a bit different than his, but the effect is the same. Super performance. This little yellow Toyota is ready for some serious 4x4 action. Come on down and check it out. You wont find anything on this truck that doesnt have a purpose or doesnt need to be there. The front bumper stretches from side to side so even if you bump a tree or lean into a bank, it should glance off and keep going. If it doesnt, there are convenient tow rings that are easy to get to for an assist. The bars on top protect the fenders and grill while pushing trees and brush up and out of the way. Out back there is a receiver for a trailer and a tailgate that folds down. Everything else is minimalist. If you are heading for the lake instead of the mud bog or mountains, then the Yellow paint looks good pulling up to the docks or backed in around a bon fire. The roof is removable and showing up at the party with people hanging off the roll bar is always fun. Minimalist describes the interior of this truck too. Its pretty much all business. There is no door panel dressing out the inside of the door. (It would just be extra weight and be hard to clean too). The seats are nicely padded Master Craft racing units with RJs Racing Equipment harnesses to hold you in place when the going gets tough. A Grant GT steering wheel provides good grip for the driver. The stock dash panel holds the speedo along with engine gauges across the bottom, but a set of Sunpro gauges for water temp, oil pressure and voltage to keep accurate track of those things has been added on the lower left. A B&M T-handle shifter for the automatic transmission is mounted on the floor with the lever for the transfer case just behind it. The whole floor pan has been rhino lined in black, and while having no back-seat leaves plenty of room for coolers, any passengers will end up sitting on them or hanging onto the roll bar. Now for the big engine part. Raise the hood and you will find a 402 cubic inch Chevy sitting down in the engine bay. It actually fits in there rather nicely, and the tremendous torque of a big block engine comes in handy in the places this truck is designed to go. A massive K&N air filter feeds an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and RPM intake manifold. A Comp Cams hydraulic cam provides the lift while black valve covers keep the oil where it belongs. MSD handles the ignition duties and stainless long tube headers get the spent gasses out and make the truck sound good while they do it. Power is sent back through a Jet Performance built, 700R4 transmission with a shift kit, to locker differentials both front and rear. 4-wheel disc brakes provide good reliable stopping power no matter how much water they are in, and the truck sits up on 35X16.00-15LT Super Swamper TSL Boggers mounted on aluminum wheels. Are you ready for a seriously capable 4X4? Then come on down and check this one out.

I purchased this Land Cruiser in 2008 from the original owner who's Father bought it brand new in 1974 in Carlsbad New Mexico. I have original registration to prove it! I also have the original doors which are not on the truck! My seller performed a meticulous frame off restoration in 2006 with 60,000 original miles! Since then, I have put maybe 20,000 light miles as a weekend driver, never off road! Always garage kept and only used ethanol-free fuel through original straight 6 engine. All original major parts and regularly maintained by classic Toyota specialist mechanic here in Wilmington, NC. I put new Mickey Thompson tires including spare on in 2010. This truck is all manual as originally produced from the factory: 4 speed transmission, steering, brakes, lockable front hubs. This is a great looking mechanically sound TANK that will not be stopped! And always a head turner! Price negotiable for a quick sale! Too much customization to list, but I have all records and files documenting restoration! Call me to discuss details!
This amazing restored 1977 Toyota LandCruiser FJ40 is finished in the original factory Sand Dune color with black interior. The body is as clean as they get. I have the original hard top also in Sand Dune with white roof. The truck features a custom roll cage and completely custom soft-top for summer cruising. The bed has side-facing fold-down troop seats with seat belts, and speakers nicely hidden underneath. I have all of the doors including the original 'ambulance' doors, a custom fold-down rear tail-gate (for use with the soft-top), and all new hardware. The tail-gate has a locking storage compartment on the inside. Also features a swing-out spare tire mount for the matching spare tire. The truck runs perfectly and is a head-turner. People will stop you at every corner to ask about this immaculate FJ40. Features the original Toyota inline 6 cyl, and this has the factory optional 4-speed manual transmission. This was a US market truck, not an import. The engine has been completely overhauled and tuned up including a rebuild on the carburetor, new gaskets, plugs, brake master cylinder, so much more. This Land Cruiser is ready to win at the car show, or take you off-road in style! The heavy steel front bumper has a Warn 10,000 winch, and the truck has been lifted 4" with a Skyjacker suspension. It has four 33" BFG Mud Terrain tires, and a matching spare. Not shown in the photos, a new, completely custom designed/fabricated full-length soft-top that extends to the rear of the truck bed. This truck is rare in near perfect condition. It's one of a kind, truly.
Restored to a quite a high standard, this 1985 Toyota FJ40 really knows how to be an excellent standout on the street and trail. This Land Cruiser underwent a restoration to make it crisp, fresh, and upgraded. The best place you see that is with the paint. The blue has a great shine that looks great in the sunlight exactly what you want on an outdoor-ready Land Cruiser. Plus, the white roof, grille, and wheels give this a hint of cool two-tone flair. Theres even more style in the details, like the metallic paint on the bumpers and bright securing hooks on the hood. While this looks great, its also built to be a true ready-for-anything FJ40. The tow hooks up front, ridged steel constriction, and full-sized swing-away spare tire are all part of what gives this icon its go-anywhere reputation. The interior has a clean and fresh feeling that reminds you theres more investment in this one. Nicely bolstered bucket seats up front and an armrest center console in-between remind you why you want a later FJ. Plus, it still has the cool/classic facing jump seats in the rear. You can still remove the roof if you want to, but the way the fresh rubber feels around the doors and seals, its likely they havent since restoration. This has some nice upgrades like an AM/FM/cassette stereo and provisions for air condition. But this one absolutely still feels like a true classic with everything you want right down to the four-wheel drive instructions bolted to the glovebox. One look under the hood, and you can tell they spent money here, too. After all, no 4x4 looks this clean without a little help (even the correct decals are present!) This is a later 2F motor, which means a larger 4.2-liter inline-six than earlier examples. This motor is part of the backbone of Toyotas sturdy reputation, and there has even been that addition of an aluminum radiator to help keep it running cool. When you reach beyond the pavement, youll be quite happy this has a two-speed transfer case, beefy axles, and Firestone Super All Traction tires. Plus, the control of the four-speed manual transmission and power brakes are great on or off-road. This is the nicely restored FJ40 that enhances what you love best about these classic 4x4s.
