A Comp Cams .574/.551 cam with 242/248 duration and a 110-degree lobe center provides tons of torque through the powerband, and a very healthy lope. Indy Cylinder Head cast valve covers with custom 572 engraving fitted with Keith Black breathers, and a Mopar Performance dual-plane single 4bbl intake with an 850 CFM Mighty Demon Carb with mechanical secondaries sit atop the massive mill, while a Milodon 30930 8-quart deep sump oil pan complete with windage tray keeps the vital Brad Penn oil ready to flow foam-free throughout the crankcase. An MSD Pro Billet distributor and MSD coil send MSD 6AL-boosted spark to each cylinder through ICH Fire Core plug wires, ensuring complete and massive fuel ignition. A custom heavy duty hydraulic clutch grabs the billet steel flywheel, which is housed in a titanium bellhousing mated to a specially-built Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission, sending the twist out back via a special HD Dom steel driveshaft to the Strange Engineering-built Dana 60 rear end with 3.54:1 gears and limited slip differential. An LPW Racing aluminum differential cover (rear-end girdle) keeps things where they should be in the third member and helps maximize gear life and performance. Slip inside into the pilot seat, and youll feel like you were back in 1971, only better! An all new interior, complete with new door panels, carpet, etc.; along with new leather seating all around (done by Legendary Leather), fills your nostrils with the scent of fine hides and new car...until you fire it up...but, well get to that part in a minute...Gaze at the new dash, filled with NOS gauges behind the vintage Cuda steering wheel on the adjustable steering column, and youll note that this baby has only a tick over 1000 miles on it. Let your right hand slip down to the pistol grip shift knob atop the Hurst Competition Plus short-throw shifter, and youll be itchin to fire it up, with your anticipation going into overdrive about hearing this beast come to life. Go ahead, twist the key in the ignition, and ITS ALIVE! The mighty Elephant roars to life, and quickly settles to a lopey burble. Youll practically feel the spent fossils exiting the exhaust ports into the custom TTI Ceramic-coated headers (coated both internally and externally), as the gigantic 2 1/8 primaries suck the gases from the engine into the full 3 stainless dual exhaust system, exiting from the through the valance exhaust tips out back. While youre anticipating the carnage youre going to wreak on the massive 295/50R15 BFG Radial TA tires (on new vintage 15x10 Cuda wheels) out back, tune in your favorite station on the Cuda radio (a new Antique Auto Radio head unit), switch on the GEN IV Vintage A/C to max cool (because YOU are now Max Cool in this gnarly ride), depress the clutch and slip it into first of the five gears youre getting ready to grab, and BOOM - youre off! As you hit the asphalt, youll feel how well the car handles, with its special rate springs and QA1 shocks at each corner. Adding to the improved driving feel from the shocks and springs, are the tubular control arms with all new bushings, sway bars, upper and lower ball joints, tie rods, pitman arm, and new steering gear box (by Firm Feel), all contributing to making this car drive with a smooth and tight feel. For sale in our Atlanta showroom is a second generation Plymouth Barracuda from 1968. The second-generation Barracuda, still shared many components with the Valiant but was stylishly redesigned with model-specific sheet metal, and a convertible and hardtop coupe joining the original fastback offering. The new Barracuda was chiefly the work of John E. Herlitz and John Samsen, with Coke-bottle side contours and heavily revised front and rear ends. Design cues included a concave rear deck panel, wider wheel openings, curved side glass, and S-curved roof pillars on the hardtop. Some points of interest with the 1968 Cudas were that the front and rear bumpers were identical, the rear portion of the roof on the fastback coupe was more streamlined, and the back glass, raked at a substantially horizontal angle, was much smaller compared with that of the previous model. Also, the use of chrome trim on the external sheet metal was more restrained. In 1968, while the 225 cu in (3.7 L) slant-6 was still the base engine, the V8 options ranged from the two- and four-barrel versions of the 273 cu in (4.5 L) to a seldom-ordered 383 cu in (6.3 L) B big-block, rated at 280 bhp (210 kW), the latter available only with the Formula S package. This Barracuda S comes with a Hensler Performance numbers matching rebuilt 383 and a 4 speed transmission,non numbers matching trans with just 500-miles on the motor since reinstalled. The dark Green exterior paint is in very good condition, shines brilliantly in the sun and contrasts nicely against the painted steel wheels with dog-dish hub caps. The black vinyl interior appears new and in great condition with only minimal signs of normal wear on the seat belts. The dash also shows no signs of sun fading or cracks. This 1970 Plymouth Barracuda started out life as 1 of 602 that were with the HP383 mated to a 4-Speed manual transmission. Starting in 1983 the car had been stored inside keeping it rust free helping it keep the sheet metal all original! Fast forward to 2014 and the start of the rotisserie restoration that left no bolt untouched. Rallye Red paint adorns the smooth panels and has a great buttery gloss to it. Theres no denying that this car was built to look fast as it is, a benefit of Chryslers delay in developing the E-body twins to combat the Camaro and Mustang, and its probably why the Cuda remains a perennial favorite. When the car was ordered it was special ordered with the 3.91 Sure Grip rear end. Also included in the Cuda options was the Rallye red paint,elastomeric bumpers front and rear, Rallye mirrors, Rallye bubble hood, Rallye instrument cluster, as well as a Rim-Blow steering wheel. Rounding out the great appeal of this car as it rolls down the road is a set of 18 U.S. Mag alloy wheels wrapped in 255/45R18 radial tires. There is no doubt that this is one of the most desirable muscle cars that the big three has produced and one of the arguably best years it was produced! Opening the dual scooped hood gives you a small peek at some of the modern upgrades that help bring this classic to life. Keeping the stroked 432 cubic inch V8 cool is an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans while pushing 400 horsepower. Feeding the fuel to this Mopar is an MSD Atomic throttle body EFI. Tasked with igniting all of that fuel is a complete MSD ignition system including a 6AL box. Breathing all of the exhaust out of this setup is a set of TTI ceramic headers and full Pypes dual exhaust complete with rectangular exhaust tips. Transferring all of that go fast power to the 8-3/4 rear end is a brand new Tremec 600 Five speed manual transmission rated to handle up to 600 horsepower. While it is a modern transmission it sports the correct pistol grip shifter for the era which no true Mopar of the time should be without. When we said not bolt was left untouched during the restoration we truly ment NO BOLT! When you look under this heart pounding muscle car you ll find an undercarriage that matches the quality of the exterior. Hotchkis subframe connectors help insure all of that power does not hurt any of the beautiful body work. Tasked with bringing this car to a stop is a set of 4-wheel Willwood disc brakes as well as Hotchkis fully tuned shocks help keep traction while starting or stopping. A complete UniSteer power rack & pinion setup makes steering this car a dream. The look and feel of this black interior is the way this car was ordered and is a great combination of new and original components. The original dash remains intact and restored but now houses a complete set of Dakota digital gauges helping make sure all of the vitals of this car are monitored as accurately as possible. They also reveal that 1,437 miles have been driven since the restoration was completed. One of my personal favorite parts of this Barracuda is the wood rimmed steering wheel that is complete with the fish insignia.
