This cars history: The Korean War comes and ends. A soldier comes home from the battlefield to celebrate his life and passage through such a traumatic experience and buys himself a red sportscar - and not just any red sportscar, but an XK120 Roadster. This same soldier full of life and future loses his life on the streets of his hometown in Kentucky. In mourning, his mother puts the car away in her only garage and lets it sit. A man working a pipeline through the town catches sight of the nose of a red Jaguar sitting in an open garage. He inquires and is told the story of the soldier, then proceeds to make a request to purchase the Jaguar. But he is turned away. The pipeline worker returns for five years making a request to purchase this Jaguar, but the mourning mother keeps turning him away. The man comes back one more time with his entire paycheck in his pocket and offers it up in exchange for the Jaguar. This time he succeeds, and the title is transferred to him. The car is transported to his home and tucked away in his barn. He has now become a farmer, and the car quickly becomes a lower priority. The local pharmacist and car collector hears that a farmer has some sort of sportscar in his barn. The pharmacist/car collector makes some inquiries and locates the farmer in possession of a red sportscar. He reviews the car, and an offer is made. No sale of the car is desired. The pharmacist persists for ten years, and an agreement is finally made. The red sportscar is now in a collectors possession. Restoration is needed, and he seeks out one of the best in the business to restore the car. He finds JDs British Cars in Nashville, TN (USA). Several years of toil and over $100,000 in funds are spent on restoration of the red sportscar. The result is what you are viewing. The car has 120 miles since restoration was completed. Review the pictures, and if you are interested in owning this 1952 Jaguar XK120, contact us at (615) 971-4409. If you ever ran around in a Beetle convertible with your friends when you were young, then you probably have some great memories. If you never had that chance, then heres another one. Or maybe its a first chance for another generation. They are fun! Drop the top, pile in, and head out. Check it out. This car looks ready to blend right in with the outdoors in its Sky-Blue paint. Its a classic body style that everybody, no matter how young or old, can identify. There have been more of them produced than any other car ever made, and anywhere you go with the car you are likely to find a community of fans which makes driving these cars that much more fun. By 1974 the cars had gotten a bit bigger, mostly up front with more luggage space, but did it without losing the curves of the fenders and shape of the hood that so defined the look of the car. The dark Blue roof folds up and down easily for protection from rain or intense sun, and also for the winter time, because being a rear engine car, it gets traction that might actually get you up a snowy hill that leaves many new cars stranded. After all, it is snowy and mountainous in Germany where it was designed. Open the door and you will find a nice white interior. Go ahead, leave the top down when you hit the beach or run errands, it wont get that hot. The door panel has a pattern of horizontal pleats and has a nice little door pocket that was added at the same time as a fully carpeted interior which was part of the luxury upgrade the Super Beetles received. Part of the charm of the car is how simple and iconic they are, but those two things were pretty nice additions. The bucket seats are comfortable and vinyl, so it doesnt really matter if they get a little wet from a rain shower or bathing suit, and your back-seat passengers will remember the adventure more than anything else, although if it is going to be a cross country trip, they better be young, flexible, and very adventurous! The dash is as simple as it gets with one gauge, the speedo with a couple indicator lights, and a stereo upgrade might be a reasonable consideration for this car. The opposed 4-cylinder engine tucked under the lid at the back of the car was enlarged to 1600 ccs and improved to make more power and be easier to service. But first, let talk about the sound of that motor. Its as iconic as the shape of the car! It has a distinctive sound you can hear while its pumping out its 60 horsepower and you are shifting through the 4-speed manual gearbox on the way down the street. The suspension was redesigned in the Super Beetles too with a new trailing arm design in the rear and MacPherson strut in the front suspension which really improved the ride and handling. The rubber meets the road through 165/80R15 tires mounted on chrome wheels with chrome VW hub caps for that classic Beetle look. This car is fun! Climb in, drop the top, and head out for some adventures. Come on down and check it out.
Did you miss out on your chance to buy one of the few 1987 BMW M6s when they were new? Well, now is likely your only opportunity to buy a time machine. This coupe is exceptionally well preserved inside and out, and it has averaged less than 1,500 miles annually. So look over all the details on a truly rare survivor. Youre looking at truly a great moment in history. 1987 was the first model year that BMW brought over its ultra-hot M6 model to the USA. And if youre going to have the fastest BMW around since the M1, theres no better color than Cinnabar Red. This is not only the factory-correct paint, but also its the original red that was applied three decades ago at the Dingolfing factory. The level of gloss and shine you see today is a testament to both the quality work of BMW and how well this M6 has been respected from day one. The same goes for the sheetmeal that retains its precision gaps. And because this is such a great survivor, take some time to look at all the details. The pristine condition of the aggressive chin spoiler, the deep black tone of the rear spoiler, and those iconic cross-spoke alloys look factory fresh. And of course, we love the way the blue pinstripe looks against the red paint, because it matches so well with BMWs M badging. BMW builds cars for drivers, and so their top-of-the-line sports coupe never lets you down. This all-original interior boasts some of the eras most comfortable bucket seats. And even the rear had individual seating and climate controls. Plus, such low mileage means there was little time to even crease the leather. The interior is focused on the driver with the three-spoke factory wheel engineered to give you a clear view at the full gauge package. Plus, the gearstick is exactly where you always want to rest your right hand. And as a premium vehicle, BMWs engineers expertly worked to make sure that it was luxurious without being distracting. You are always just a short reach away from features like the air conditioning, power windows, power lock, the original AM/FM/cassette stereo, and a power sunroof. BMW even offered one of the most advanced power seat controls of the era, and they are functioning perfectly today to still give you that ideal driving position. But what really makes the M6 superior is in the engine bay. The 3.5-liter straight-six is an evolution from the M1 supercar. Not only is this the original motor to the car, but the whole engine bay looks like its not even missing a single decal. This 24-valve, fuel-injected powerplant was built to be the quickest machine around no matter if it was starting from a standstill or approaching triple-digit speeds. And so you can take this from an easy cruising luxury machine to a true performance coupe with just one downshift of the five-speed manual transmission. BMWs Motorsport division engineered the fully independent suspension so that the extra power was kept under optimal control. The same goes for the power steering and four-wheel disc brakes. These M6s were quite rare. As the most expensive BMW at the time, few people were willing to grab the upper echelon of speed and luxury. As a result, less than 1,800 of this entire generation were sent to North America, and this one might just be the finest survivor example. So your choice is call now of miss out forever!
The Manhattan was the top-of-the-line Frazer. It was the first entirely new postwar body style, built to high quality standards, and was offered in a never before equaled array of colors. Check out this one that is presented in a striking shade of Teal and see what you think. The color really shows off the fluid lines of this car. It was referred to as an envelope body as the fenders enveloped the wheels, enclosing them as part of the whole rather than separating them visually, or actually, from the body. The bulbous fenders combined with a long wheelbase for a look that would soon be followed by the other manufacturers. Big chrome bumpers and grills remained popular however, and the Manhattan did not disappoint. Leading the way is a substantial bumper that curves out in the center, following the lines of the hood. The grill with its horizontal slots accentuates the look and has a couple yellow fog lights mounted in front of it. Above it on the hood itself is a Coat of Arms and Frazer in script. Mounted above the windshield is an impressive Fulton sunshade that is quite dramatic. The back of the car is less dramatic but flows nicely into another curvaceous bumper with a chrome exhaust tip peeking out from underneath. Open the door and you will find a roomy interior. The color scheme can be seen in the door panel with polished stainless trimming out the window, a pretty medium Blue cloth, an Ivory colored panel with a blue armrest in the center, and Black carpeting along the bottom. The steering wheel is a two-spoke affair with gently curving spokes and a half moon horn ring with a Coat of Arms in the center. The dashboard is Teal with chrome and polished metal defining a thin linear panel. Within it in front of the driver is the speedometer and the engine gauges. In the center is the radio with a dramatic speaker grill below it of horizontal lines with a series of chrome and Ivory control knobs below that. The passenger side has Frazer in script over the glove box. The Blue bench seats front and rear have been nicely recovered and are roomy and comfortable. An ivory headliner and black carpeting tie everything together nicely. Under the hood you will find an engine with an impressive name. It is the Continental Red Seal 226 cubic inch Supersonic L-head six powerplant. It sits down in a neat and clean engine bay with signs that it received good regular maintenance with new plugs, wires and distributor cap, as well as newer fuel lines and coolant hoses. Brake lines have been replaced throughout the car to assure good braking reliability too. The power the engine makes is sent back through a 3-speed manual transmission to the solid rear axle which is mounted on leaf springs. Coil springs on control arms gets the job done at the front. Teal steel wheels with chrome hub caps and polished trim rings look great with 7.10-15 wide white wall tires all around. Come on down and check out this stylish, roomy, and comfortable car. Then take it on home and get ready. Because when you take it out for a ride, there will probably be a waiting list of people who want to go with you.
This is the car that started the Z car dynasty. It is a lightweight sportscar with a fully independent suspension and a torquey 6-cylinder engine that loves to run. It has been restored and repainted with piles of new OEM parts that really set this car apart from the crowd. And, it is a fun, fun, fun car to drive! Check it out. Starting with a super solid car with all original sheet metal, this car was stripped down and recoated in Safari Gold topped with clearcoat. It is a classic design that has stood the test of time and still attracts attention anywhere it goes. 1001 little details and new parts add up to a huge difference with this car. Starting up front, a fresh European style bumper shines brightly as it leads the way. That long hood with a Datsun badge flows back to a fresh windshield installed with a new seal. All the stainless around the windows looks great polished up real nicely and new mirrors and trim pieces everywhere are little things that make a big difference. Datsun in script appears on the front fender and there is a 240Z badge high on the rear fenders. The hatchback design makes this a very easy sportscar to use as a daily driver, and another European style bumper adds to the super clean look of the rear of the car. Open the door and you will find a super clean Black interior. The door panel itself looks like a lightweight racecar piece in its simplicity. Slide on into those high-backed buckets which have comfortable pleated seating surfaces and substantial bolsters to support you for spirited driving. Grab hold of the steering wheel that has been nicely restored and reach for the new shift knob for the 4-speed manual transmission which falls easily to hand and is just begging to be stirred around. New pedals for the gas and clutch making that activity extra enjoyable. The dash board is stock with the speedo and tach directly in front of the driver and the engine gauges clearly visible mounted at the top of the dash in the center. Below them are the controls for the ventilation system that includes air conditioning for those hot summer days. The tunnel and trim in the interior is the great looking, original, diamond patterned vinyl and the headliner as well as the carpeting are in excellent condition too. The engine and drivetrain on this car were the focus of a thorough rebuild by a Datsun specialist and involves an extensive list of parts that you should ask your salesman about. Pop the hood and you will find the original numbers matching 2.4-liter in-line 6-cylinder motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It was completely rebuilt to standard specifications, not over bored, with fresh pistons, rings and bearings installed before the reconditioned cylinder head was installed with a new timing chain and guides. The Hitachi carbs were rebuilt and a set of headers help the engine breath free and sound sweet. Power is sent back through a new clutch assembly to the independent rear suspension.
