Former Shriner Parade cart, electric start 5hp Briggs Stratton, forward and reverse, Led Lights, new tires and battery, excellent condition. Nicest one around.
Best of both worlds. You prefer the classic factory appearance but enjoy some upgrades like air conditioning? Well this has it along with power steering, power 4 wheel disc brakes and much more! The previous owner was very clever at how he had several upgrades done while retaining the original look. EXTERIOR: It looks just as it did when it sat on the showroom floor in 1961. The same classic style with the white coves and spinner hubcaps. Well, actually it is better then it was in 1961 because I guarantee the paint was never this nice. The color might be tweaked a bit to really give it a little more pizazz. The clear coat finish is glossy and smoother too. The body is exceptionally good too. It is real straight and all the panels fit very nicely. I dont see any signs of damage or cracking. Upfront all of the chrome is redone, the bumpers, bumper guards, grill surround, emblems, spears on top of the fenders look new. The grill itself is in very good original condition. On the sides the emblems, handles, mirror, stainless moldings look new. The trim around the windshield is polished, window pillars are rechromed. The windshield and gasket are replaced. In back the bumper and tail lights have been replaced. Chevy emblem on the trunk is the original. Hubcaps and spinners look new. The white convertible top is in excellent shape. Another upgrade that isnt noticeable until you drive it are the tires. They still have the big classic white wall but are modern BFG radials for improved ride. The rims are painted to match the body. New weatherstrips. INTERIOR: It also retains its original nostalgic look inside down to the 4-speed shifter and wonderbar radio. The interior also has a few tricks up its sleeve. The air conditioning vents are neatly installed below the dash and barely noticeable, the controls are incorporated into the factory knobs so you dont realize its even there. The original Wonder Bar radio has been rebuilt to work as an FM stereo, the speaker is upgraded too. Another subtle, but significant change is the steering wheel. It was made smaller which gives much more room and easier to get in and out. Power steering allows for a smaller wheel. It also has had seatbelts added. A rare factory option are the power windows. Condition is very good. The seats have new cushions and upholstery. Carpet, shift bezel, ashtray, dash pad were replaced. The silver trim on door panels and dash look original. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Now this is where several secret upgrades have been fitted. For starters the 283 was replaced with a 1971Corvette 350 engine putting out 100 hp more. More reliable HEI ignition, generator upgraded with alternator, carb was rebuilt. All new heat and air conditioning system installed. All new power brake system with a safer dual reservoir master. Aluminum water pump, upgraded radiator with electric fan keeps it cool. A cleverly engineered power steering system was retrofitted. The column was cut making sure the original vin was not touched, and all new custom linkage was installed. The 3 major upgrades were never even available in a 61 Vette- Air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. Everything is cleaned, painted and looks nice. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is clean and painted body color. Has divider panel and spare tire cover. New weatherstrip. UNDERSIDE: Very respectable condition. The frame is rock solid. Fiberglass looks like undamaged original, actually its still original raw yellow color. The rear axle straps are still there. Another huge upgrade are disc brakes at all 4 wheels. Each have slotted and drilled rotors. All new brake hoses lines and even e-brake system. Newer dual exhaust system, recent shocks. It has original dated 4-speed. This gorgeous Vette has comfort, reliability and performance far beyond what it was born with. I have not seen another one with all this has to offer. Full custom versions have been selling $250,000 to $350,000. Turnkey ready to use and enjoy! Started with a real clean Arizona car. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Im going to start with the engine compartment because engine is the engine the highlight of the car. The seats and headrests have firm cushions, upholstery looks new. Carpet looks new. The stuff that doesnt get replaced like steering wheel, console, gauges etc are mint. There is no wear on the steering wheel. I open the glovebox and find some nice surprises. There is a receipt for new tires in 1998 and the miles were at 25,500. Thats only 100 miles a year the last 20 years. I also find the orginal hard cover owners manual, folded up inside is the original window sticker. #s matching 442 with broadcast sheet. Vin # match 455 motor and turbo 400 auto. Factory code 75 Matador red. Lived in Atlanta most of its life, virtually rust free. Restored to beautiful condition. EXTERIOR: Gorgeous repaint in its original Matador red color, set off with the optional white stripes. The body is in excellent shape. This car was sold new at Callaway Motors in Decatur GA and lived there most of its life. The body has its original metal. Original 1/4 panels, bottom of the doors still have clean seems, inside the door jambs you can still see the factory spot welds, bottom of the fenders are clean. All the body panels line up nice and square. A little known fact is the 442 emblems were not spaced equally from the factory. The 4s were tight and there was a space between the 4 and 2. The reason I mention this is because I rarely see them correct. If someone were to replace a panel or make a Cutlass into a 442 they would logically space the 442 equally which is wrong. This car has the 442 emblems as it left the factory! Painted about 10 years ago and still shines beautifully. As I walk around it I dont see any significant flaws. The bumpers are rechomed, in back it has the notched bumper for the trumpet exhaust tips. Stainless is great, trim around windshield is polished. Grills, hood louvers, headlight bezels are in great shape. Has new lenses in back. Windshield, window seals and weatherstrips look new. The color matched Rally wheels have been restored, trim is bright. The white convertible top that still looks new and it has new weather stripping on the convertible frame. Top boot is new. INTERIOR: Its in excellent shape inside, unabused and weel cared for. The upholstery, door panels, carpeting, dash pad are all very, very good condition. Has reproduction floor mats and a sport steering wheel. The dash area is very nice- nothing cracked or cut, the vents, bezels, wood grain is excellent. The ashtray door is not broke, ashtray is clean, original lighter matches the other knobs. Nice glovebox, has power trunk release (didnt work when i tried it). Has the glovebox pouch with original manuals, warrantybook filled out with original dealers info and buyers info and original broadcast sheet found in the car. There is a set of gauges mounted neatly under the dash to moniter the engines vitals. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Spotless metal with a clean coat of spatter paint. It has optional rubber Oldsmobile mat. The jack is clean, has spare with tire cover and correct lug wrench. The jamb has clean seams, new rubber and is painted very nicely. Bottom side of the trunk lid is painted nice, has the jacking decals. MOTOR COMPARTMENT: I would call it show quality. I just opened the hood and said wow in my head. It is very clean, orderly and detailed just as it left the factory. All the black metal is clean and smooth. The engine has a real nice, clean coat of the correct blue paint. All the wiring is neatly run, has the proper hoses and clamps. The upper hose is attached to the fan shroud like its supposed to be (rarely see that). Air conditioning system has been serviced and upgraded to R134 freon. Bottom of the hood is painted gloss red and it has the installation. Master cylinder and brake booster is detailed, alternator looks new. The 455 motor only has been completely rebuilt only 3,800 miles ago. New pistons, cam, rebuilt heads etc. UNDERSIDE: Super clean metal, dry as a chalkboard. All the factory drain holes, spotwelds and seams are clean. Everything looks proper. Has the Rallye suspension. WHAT 442 MEANS IN 1972: Only 1,179 convertibles were made. The 442 option was a handling and appearance package, it had nothing to do with the motor. You could get a 350 with a 2 barrel carb and single exhaust! This 442 was ordered with the 455, dual exhaust and a 4 barrel. This is designated by the U in the vin #. This motor also required the heavy duty Turbo 400 trans. Both the motor and trans are vin # matched to this car. This 442 has its original Rallye suspension which is required to be a 442. This includes sway bars and boxed control arms. The appearance portion included different grills, 442 emblems and hood louvers. This is an excellent example of a very rare and desirable muscle car convertible! This 442 has #s matching 455 ram air and special order paint. Its a Sebring yellow car and probably one if the most rust free original metal 442s around! The factory yellow overspray is still on the clean floors. Underneath has never been painted over, its original and rock solid. The factory seams and spotwelds are clean. At the factory the 442 emblems were spaced a particular way, most people dont know that. Most are spaced wrong in restoration, on this car all the emblems are correct which tells me its original.
