Here is a blast from the past that will be a hot ticket here at CRUISIN CLASSICS. 1975 Chevrolet Vega Cosworth #0735. With only 4,925 Actual Miles, this Cosworth has been highly documented to show its life from the Newspaper advertising from the Dealer (1-10-1976, Johnstown Tribune-Democrat) from where the car was purchased (see pictures), to the past progression of titles and mileage, odometer diclosures and much more. Very, very cool documented history. These rare rides were seen on occasion and the owners loved them. The Cosworth was a 4 cylinder, Twin Cam, 110hp, special edition. While not setting records in the quarter mile, it did take the Vega to another level. Back in the day (1969), John DeLorean was given charge of the Chevrolet Division of General Motors. Fast forwarding a few years, the Cosworth was supposed to be the "import killer" with the influx of imported vehicles. They were only made for 2 years (75-76) with a total number for both years being 3057 produced. All were numbered with this one being #0735 out of 2061 made in 75. Unfortunately the popularity for the Cosworth did not come until decades later. There is a nationwide club of enthusiasts out there to keep the car alive. This car in particular has been repainted and is of driver quality. The exterior and undercarriage show signs of use and perhaps long periods of storage. The unmistakable look of the Vega is masked by the Cosworth badging (mostly decals) and the Gold wheels. The Daytona tires have little to no tread loss so this is ready for the road right now. The interior is in superb condition from carpet to headliner, seats and general overall esthetics. The gold, swirl decal on the dash facia is in tact and also in great condition. In the pictures you can see for yourself that it is like it is supposed to be even as far as the number plate. It is ready for the road. I would suggest that all Cosworth lovers get in line and check this baby out in detail. We welcome 3rd party inspectors and we will also encourage you to come see it in person. If you have any additional questions, please call one of our friendly sales staff. Introduced in 1975, the Cosworth Vega was a limited edition sports model of the popular Vega compact car. Featuring a 2.0L inline 4 cylinder tuned by the famous Cosworth Engineering Ltd in England, the Cosworth Vega pumped out 110hp and featured an aluminum block, 16 valves, dual overhead camshafts and forged pistons. The car was limited to 5,000 units, with dealers fighting for slots to get a single car to sell, however a change in the market meant that just 3,508 were produced, making it a very rare English/American classic.GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this fine 1975 Cosworth Vega for your consideration. Finished in the only color available, Black with Gold accents, this Vega is very nice and clean. The body is straight and free of rot and the paint is very good apart from a few small spots here and there. A rear hatch with heated rear window, cowl hood with decals, and 13in gold alloy wheels round out the unique exterior treatment. The interior is extremely clean, with black front bucket seat, factory wheel, a crack free dash, unique gold dash trim and full instrumentation. The interior is very nice other than a bit of peeling on the dashboard trim. A unique plaque shows the special serial number of each car. This particular Cosworth is number 0188 and is in excellent shape. The car runs and drives very well, with lots of pep and the sporty handling that was praised when it was new. The car even comes with a ton of original documents such as the original window sticker, owners manual, shop books, and other paperwork. A rare and unique collectable, this car is sure to continue its upward appreciation. To see over 80 photos of this car, including undercarriage please visit our website www.grautogallery.com
The Vega was built by Chevrolet from 1970 until 1977. In 1971 it was voted as Motor Trends Car of the Year. The name Vega derives from the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. More than 2 million were built over the 7-year lifespan This Vega Hatchback has a gold custom paint job with a yellow and purple custom stripe. The interior is black velour and it has an aftermarket Kenwood CD player. It has a custom fiberglass hood with cowl induction. The wheels are American Racing with Performer GT Radial tires. It is a rust-free example and runs and drives properly. The transmission is a 3-speed manual transmission connected to the original type 140ci 4-cylinder engine that has been dressed up. The engine and trans are solid and it runs great. This car was originally donated to the Boyertown Museum and thats where we acquired the car. Youll be the only one at the car show. A detuned version of the 200 HP Cosworth Project EA racing powerplant, the Cosworth Vega engine was the first Chevrolet passenger-car engine to use electronic fuel injection. Here are some quotes that Wikipedia lifted from the major car magazines of the day. They say it better than we ever could. Car and Driver said in August 1973: Cosworth Vega 16-Valve. More than an engine. A taut-muscled GT coupe to devastate the smugness of BMW 2002tiis and 5-speed Alfa GTVs. A limited run of 4000 machines, each one built away from the tumult of the assembly line to precision tolerances, as a show of technical force by Chevrolet. All of them will be collectors items. The magazines History of 0-60 article said a 1974 pre-production Cosworth Vegas time of 7.7 seconds was the fastest that year. Testing a 1975 model, the magazine said: The outstanding feature of the Cosworth Vega is its excellent balance. Roll-stiffness distribution is ideal, with little understeer entering a turn, and just the right amount of drift from the tail as you put your foot down to exit . . . Through the woods or down a mountain, the Cosworth is a feisty aggressor willing, if not altogether able to take on the worlds best GT cars. Motor Trend magazines test of a 1975 version said it goes like the proverbial bat out of Carlsburg Caverns ... At moderate speeds, the car is as close to neutral handling as any American car I have ever driven... The Cosworth Vega The Road & Track test of a 1976 model said: The Cosworth Vegas handling is very good ... All the drivers agreed that it is a far better handling car than those Vega derivatives such as the Monza that have been fitted out with V6 or V8 engines ... We cant resist saying that with the Cosworth Vega engine, the Vega now runs the way it should have run all the time-easy, smooth, good response, good handling: a nice balance between performance and economy. Sweet as it is however, the Cosworth Vega is still way down the excitement ladder from what it would be with another 30 or 40 bhp. Then it would really be something. Road Test magazine, in its Supercoupe Shootout-Alfa vs. Mazda vs. Lancia vs. Saab vs. Cosworth Vega-said: The results are in Figure 2. Read em and weep, all you foreign-is-better nuts, because right there at the top, and by a long way at that, is the Cosworth Vega. It had the fastest 0-60 time, the fastest quarter-mile time, and tied with the Saab for the shortest braking distance.9 #fn9The Cosworth is American, and a collectors item, and it came close, damn close to winning the whole thing.10 #fn10 Car and Driver chose the Cosworth Vega as one of the 10 Best Collectible Cars in its fourth annual Ten Best issue, saying: Were talking about historical significance here. Believed to a 225xx original miles Vega No. 2046 of 2,061 produced Delivered new to Chapman Chevrolet in Chandler AZ Window sticker included along with lots of receipts and owner history Powered by the original umbers matching Twin cam 122 CI inline 4-cylinder engine from Cosworth Engineering Numbers matching 4-speed manual transmission Front disc brakes Original 13 Alloy Wheels with 18570R13 Radials Correct and original Black with Gold accents, it showing some age but still shines and isnt flaking Black vinyl interior looks nearly new Soft Ray tinted glass There werent a lot of options available but this Cosworth Vega has the look and demeanor you want from a mId 70s GT Swing-out rear side windows This may not be the fastest GT of the day but it was assuredly one of the better looking

1974 Vega Pro Street The Vegas may have originally been released as a subcompact Chevy with a 4 cylinder but this one is sure to change what you picture when someone mentions a Vega. This 74 2 door hatch back has been built up to spin tires and turn heads wherever it goes. It is painted in a PPG Dark and Dramatic Plum Purple paint that has a nice finish. It was then accented with custom pinstriping by Frank Palmer with engine turned style paint work going down the sides. The hot wheels graphics was added because with its small stance, big tires, and big motor sticking out of the hood it reflects the style of a lot of the blown hot wheels cars. A fiberglass hood is in place with Dzus turnlock fasteners for easy removal. The car has an incredible sound through custom built 2" ceramic coated headers into Flowmaster mufflers and the drivetrain was very well built. Worldwide Vintage Autos is pleased to present this 1976 Chevrolet Vega. HISTORYThe Chevrolet Vega is a subcompact automobile that was manufactured and marketed by GMs Chevrolet subdivision from 1970 to 1977. Available in two-door hatchback, notchback, wagon, and panel delivery body styles, all models were powered by an inline four-cylinder engine with a lightweight, aluminum alloy cylinder block. Variants included the Cosworth Vega, a short-lived limited-production performance model, introduced in March 1975.The Vega received praise and awards at its introduction, including 1971 Motor Trend Car of the Year. Subsequently the car became widely known for a range of problems related to its engineering, reliability, safety, propensity to rust, and engine durability. Despite a series of recalls and design upgrades, the Vegas problems tarnished both its own as well as General Motors reputation. Production ended with the 1977 model year. UPDATED 11/26: The car now has new tires, battery, and gaskets. This is a 1976 Chevy Vega that my Uncle owned before he passed away, so I don't have much info about when the last time anything was done to it. I apologize for that, but please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. This is unit 2251 of 3508 per the plaque on the dash. I have test driven it on a highway and nothing sounds out of place. I assume it's the original clutch and it shifts gears as well as you would expect. It's only a 4-speed manual transmission so the RPM gets pretty high even at 70-80 MPH so I haven't pushed it any further than that. The lights, wipers, windows, radio, and seat belts work as expected. Except for the Tachometer, all the gauges work. The car is in good condition and is all original (except the hood and driver-side door). This is ideal for a project car or if you're a member of the Vega Owners Club. The car runs well after the recent tune-up. Only minor dents and scratches w/ minimal rust on the under-body.The car comes with a jack. I also have the Title in hand PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to email me instead of calling or texting, please check your spam folder for replies as that seems to be an issue.
