Odometer was reset after the restoration, but actual miles are believed to be somewhere around 59,000. Someone went to great lengths to ensure that nearly every component and piece of hardware on this car is original and correct, and it really shows. Unlike many Top Flight cars, this car is presented exactly as it was judged, with no parts removed after judging. Rarely does one find for sale a Top Flight NCRS or a Bloomington Gold mid year as it was judged as many do not have all the correct parts used in judging. The reason is; many of the original parts are worth serious money on the open market so either someone loaned parts to the car to gain judging points, and or exchanged parts after judging. Not is this case. What was judged is on the Vette. Be assured you can have this Vette judged again with confidence. This Vettes condition is as when delivered new. Judging sheets are available. CLASSIC 3rd (3C) GENERATION 1979 L-82 CHEVROLET CORVETTE...CALL 706-429-7924GENERAL BACKGROUND... the 3rd (C3) generation Corvettes essentially brought the famed Mako Shark II concept car to life. Most notably perhaps, they introduced the first removable “T-Top” panels to a production car, many years after Cord designer Gordon Buehrig invented them for his Tasco prototype. It was in 1979 – as seen on this car – that factory Front and Rear Spoilers were first offered as an option. All 1979s featured the previous year’s Pace Car seating…as you will also see in this car.THIS IS A HIGHLY ORIGINAL, LOW-MILEAGE, DOCUMENTED SOUTHERN CAR… It’s hard to find adult-driven 1979s as nice as this! We do not see any evidence of repainting, and changes have been relatively limited. For example, a modern audio system has been installed, as well as a rebuilt Quadrajet Carb – but the originals will be included with the car if desired. A “Mad Dog” 700R4 4-speed overdrive transmission was installed too. The new transmission was not compatible with the speedometer/odometer cable so the speedometer/odometer are not working at the moment. However, a new speedometer cable and gear are pictured and come with the car.“MAINTAINED” - NOT “RESTORED” Collectors are increasingly preferring well-maintained vs. restored classics. 100% originality is exceedingly rare, but highly original cars like this are widely sought and treasured when found.FACTORY OPTIONS… as the original Window Price Sticker will show, the car has 11 desirable extra-cost options – including the more powerful L82 5.7 Liter V8, which was $595 (a lot of $$ in 1979). See images for full option details on the showroom sticker.OVER 100 IMAGES IN SIX IMAGE SETS… This is a great car, and we want you to see it in full detail. Most of the images will show just how nice the car is…and some others will show you a bit of the patina of age and normal respectful use. The images are arranged as follows…· First Image Set of 23 pictures introduces the car from an overall perspective…serious prospective buyers should also examine Image Sets 2-6. · Image Set #2 shows the document binder included with the car. It has many original purchase documents, the original showroom window price sticker, and many maintenance receipts. · Image Set #3 shows the Exterior of the car in detail · Image Set #4 shows the Interior in detail · Image Set #5 shows the Engine Compartment · Image Set #6 shows the Undercarriage in detail OPERATIONAL REPORT... the car is a pleasure to drive and is definitely an attention getter. Millennials may not know when it was made – or perhaps even what it is – but they know it is classic and cool! Contributing to a well-controlled ride, is a rebuilt suspension system. The Air Conditioner blows cold and was thoroughly serviced in 2013 – including a replaced compressor and conversion to R134. There is an under-hood shutoff for the heater core which helps keep the cabin cooler when no heater is needed. The power antenna must be raised/lowered manually. The upgraded/modernized audio system likely has a small electrical “draw” even when the ignition is “off”, so a master cutoff switch has been added near the battery to prevent battery drain when parked. During the photo-session, the horn, power windows and wipers were all tested and worked. All gauges were operational…including the clock (though accuracy on these clocks is not what we have on today’s cars).Overall, a very nice 1979 Corvette that those who have owned these cars in the past will appreciate as one of the better examples they have seen. Especially if you are a first-time vintage Corvette buyer, please know that these cars were engineered for dynamic looks, great handling, and impressive performance. A smooth and quiet ride was reserved for Cadillacs – not Corvettes. Today, we get Cadillac comfort and Corvette-like performance on many cars…but back in 1979, cars were engineered completely different and more narrowly focused.LOCATION: Cumming, GA (approx. 40 miles from Atlanta)EXCELLENT INVESTMENT – cars of the 1950s and 1960s are highly coveted. Now, the best of the 1970s cars are coming into focus and collectability – with particular emphasis on performance cars. This 1979 Corvette is a beautiful example of how Corvette closed that decade, and will enjoy increasing interest in the years to come. ODOMETER NOTE...40,497 miles are indicated on the odometer, but it has stopped. As mentioned earlier in the description, the speedometer cable/gear broke when the upgraded 700R4 was installed (a new cable/gear are included with the car and shown in the images). Due to the 5-digit design limitations of odometers of this era, it is impossible to know the car's actual mileage with certainty. However, the indicated mileage is believed to be close to the original mileage…and the current title issued in 2013 states the mileage at 37,611 at that time.PAYMENT DETAILS: Payment is due either in CASH, or by Bank to Bank Wire Transfer…NO checks and NO financing. IMPORTANT DOCUMENT & FINAL REMARKS: A Bill of Sale, Georgia Registration document, and Title will be provided to the buyer.
