This is quite likely the finest 1970 AMC AMX youll ever see. Go Package, 390, lots of options including A/C, and an awesome pedigree. Someone spent big on this restoration, theres no question about that, and the result is a car that out-shines many of its muscle car contemporaries and one that youll rarely see at a show. You dont have to be an AMC fan to realize this is one heck of a muscle car. The AMX is so much more than merely a shortened Javelin. The proportions that can look ponderous on the Javelin are lean and muscular on the AMX, and the design beautifully lends itself to this cars two-tone paint scheme, with the original code 95A-8 Sonic Silver metallic offset by a satin black shadow on the hood. Paint and bodywork are every bit as spectacular as they look in photos (quite likely even better) and its incredibly rare to see this kind of investment in an AMX, both in terms of time and money. Its just plain slick with details like the hood scoop, fluted rocker moldings that look like side pipes, and the full-width taillight that makes the AMX look wide and low. The overall look is aggressive and powerful, like a coiled spring ready to explode off the line, and the car definitely commands attention out on the road, even if a lot of folks dont even know what theyre looking at. With 1970 being the lowest production year for AMXs, who can blame them? Its an exceptionally cool car made even more so by its rarity. The interior has been beautifully restored, but if youre not familiar with the AMX, you might overlook the cool stuff. First off, red is a very rare choice in any AMX and were not sure weve ever seen it before in any AMX of any color. The high-back buckets are expertly upholstered with factory-style patterns and materials, and the door panels have vertical pleats that match. The two-seater configuration, of course, obviates the back seat, leaving a fully carpeted bulkhead that puts the center of gravity right under the drivers seat, so the car feels agile on the road. Plenty of woodgrained details make it feel expensive and upscale inside, including the shiny burled walnut on the center console. The original gauges have been restored, the A/C blows cold, and the rim-blow horn works as advertised. The only possible demerit might be that the original AM radio isnt working, but youll probably enjoy the drive so much, you wont miss it. Theres even a decent-sized trunk out back, which includes a correct mat and space-saver spare. Speaking of performance, its delivered by AMCs top powerplant, a 390 cubic inch V8 with 325 horsepower, enough to make the AMX one of the most potent machines on the road in 1970. Sharply detailed for show, it wears correct turquoise metallic engine paint, chrome valve covers, and a functional ram air air cleaner. The big A/C compressor dominates the engine bay, but its cool to see the additional bracing that makes that long nose possible. Factory cast iron exhaust manifolds dump into a custom dual exhaust system that sounds awesome without being obnoxious. The chassis is properly finished with lots of new components in the suspension and brakes, and the 3-speed automatic transmission snaps to attention when you need it to. Racy Magnum 500 wheels wear reproduction F70-14 Goodyear Wide Oval bias-ply tires for an authentic look and feel. You are looking at a very solid 1966 Rambler Classic 770 Cross Country Station Wagon. It has a completely rebuilt 232 original type 6 cylinder engine with automatic trans and power steering. It has mostly original paint that is in relatively good condition. The interior is original and in very good condition except for the bottom of the drivers seat. I purchased the correct material and had the bottom of the front seat repaired. It is a factory AC car but some parts are missing under the hood. It has a nice set of Cragar alloy Mag wheels and almost new Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS tires on it. It runs and drives very well. The odometer is showing 39,218 but I have no way of knowing how many times it has turned over. I also just had the transmission rebuilt. With the new trans and rebuilt engine, plus, how solid the car is, I feel that my price of $7,500 is very fair, however, I have reduced the price down to $7,000, which I am sure YOU too will feel is very fair for a car like this one with the potential that this vehicle has. The AMX was designed to appeal to both muscle car and sports car enthusiasts and was successful in both worlds. Tire melting acceleration made them frequent fliers at drag strips around the country and in SCCA road racing they competed in the B-Production class against cars like the Shelby GT350. This car is stock and appears to be an all original, survivor type of car. While many of the AMXs were painted in wild colors and festooned with sponsor decals, this one is presented in a nice Regatta Blue that may help you avoid attracting unwanted attention while you are out for a cruise. 1969 was the last year with the headlights mounted separately from the grill of horizontal bars with AMX off to one side. The chrome and the stainless isnt new and freshly replaced, it does look great for its age. Rocker trim dresses out the lower edge of the body and a style line trails off the top of the rear wheel wells with AMX and 390 V8 emblems appearing on the rear fenders too. The rear end is sweet with the slope of the rear end descending smoothly between the sail panels to the super clean arrangement of full width taillamps. That is underlined by a sharp looking bumper with a couple of chrome exhaust tips peeking out from underneath. Open the door and you will find a Charcoal interior with nice wood tone accents. Like the outside of the car, it is kind of understated given its performance orientation. The door panel is simple with a brushed metal line across the top and a wood tone insert behind the window crank. One thing that makes this car unique is that it was the only two seat, steel bodied, American car built since the 57 T-bird. And those two seats look great, and are comfortable, having been nicely recovered in charcoal cloth with black piping. A three-spoke steering wheel sits in front of a stock dash panel that has the tach on the left, the speedo in the center and gauges on the right. Ventilation controls are on the lower left and there is an Aiwa AM/FM/CD player in the center for your listening pleasure just in front of the shifter for the automatic transmission that rises from a wood tone console. Open the hood and you will find a stock 390 cubic inch engine sitting down in a snug engine bay with a new aluminum radiator keeping things running cool. The air filter housing it topped with a red, white and blue, AMX 390 decal which sits on top of a 4-barrel carburetor and both the motor and engine bay appear to be true to the survivor character of this car. There has been some regular maintenance done as evidenced by new ignition components as well as newer belts and hoses, probably all handled when the radiator was installed. Because it was designed as a two-seat sports car as well as a drag racer, it has a short wheel base for good handling, and multi leaf springs in the rear with coil springs on control arms along with a sway bar in the front that was tuned for tearing up the backroads as well as the road racing circuits of the day. This 1973 AMC Javelin is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. This 1973 Javelin is unlike any other one on the road. With its apocalyptic theme and Trans Am racer styling this has to be one of the coolest you have seen. The front of the Javelin was treated to a handmade front spoiler which is where the theme starts. Followed onto the front grill with the original parking lights mounted on both sides while the modern LED lights were fitted into the original headlight bezels. The orange satin color is courtesy of a 3M wrap which is a lot more durable than any paint job. The grey stripes over the hood compliment the metal work with AMC and LSX imprinted in them. The rear of the car has been treated to a wide body kit allowing for the monster 335 tires to be placed under the fenders. The rear has been blacked out with the spoiler giving the rear end that trans am racer look. Pop the hood and all you see is custom metal work. From the engine cover to the firewall they nailed the apocalyptic theme. The LS3 engine that lies underneath that metalwork has been outfitted with a cam while a custom tune gets the most out of this small block. Mated up to a T56 6 speed with an ACT twin disc clutch making it extremely durable while having a great pedal feel. Only 1,512 built total, ever! AMC wanted a musclecar to compete with the big three automakers. Easy, stuff a big motor in a compact car. The typically very mundane Rambler Rogue was their car of choice. With the help of Hurst performance they created a car that could blow the doors off some pedigreed muscle cars. At the time there wasnt much budget for AMC to promote. The car needed to be its own billboard so it was given a wild appearance that was at the time considered obnoxious. Today it is an exciting car and highly sought after. This one includes a box of owner history, receipts including engine rebuild and original literature. EXTERIOR: It certainly makes a statement. Believe it or not the paint is over 20 years old. It still shows great, has a smooth glossy finish. No bubbles, looking down the sides it is straight. The red sides and blue stripe are outlined in black. The lettering on the hood is painted on. It has its original snout ram air scoop and hood pins. It also has its original bullet style mirrors. Each car also features custom grill, black tail panel and special emblems. As if the red, white and blue paint wasnt already enough- AMC thought the wheels should be blue too! Has recent BFG tires. Bumpers are rechromed, windshield is new. Door jambs are clean, new weather strips and sill plates. INTERIOR: Very nice inside. It is essentially the same as a Rambler other then red, white and blue headrests and an 8 grand Sun Tach on the column. The upholstery is excellent, both front seats recline. New chrome covers on seat hinges. Door panels, armrests and headliner is really good. The carpet is new and has embroidered SC- Hurst floormats. The chrome dash bezels have been replaced($495), has stock radio and new glovebox liner. Steering wheel has been restored. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has its original 390 motor with original # tag on the valve cover. The ram air induction system is complete and functional. It even has the heat riser tube, new actuator rubber seal. The motor has a clean coat of the original aqua. Recent tune up and rebuilt carb. Its a very respectable and proper the engine compartment. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Trunk is solid, has a new mat and the cardboard sidewalls. Under the trunk lid and the jamb is painted white, has new weatherstrip. UNDERSIDE: Each SC Rambler was equipped with heavy duty suspension. Upfront it has disc brakes. Miscellaneous parts look new- shocks, steering box, various bushings. Bottom of motor is clean. In back it has 3.54 posi and new shocks. It has the T-10 Borg Warner 4-speed trans. Recent exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. This is one of the rarest, most exciting muscle cars built. It certainly creates conversation wherever it goes. It includes a nice framed presentation of the SC/Rambler Hurst. Dont forget what a blast to drive this is- ram air 390 with a 4-speed and posi in a little Rambler! This car is certainly is not going down in value.
