There are so many things to like about this car. Speed. It has a potent LT4 V8 with the F45 Active Suspension system. History. It pays homage to the original Grand Sport Corvettes produced in 1963. Exclusivity. It is only the second Corvette ever offered with a sequential VIN number separate from all other production Corvettes of that year. Mileage. It only has 20,832 miles on it. Lets start with the look of this car which is a nod to the original 5 Grand Sport Corvette prototypes of 1963. They were built to challenge the dominant endurance racers of the day like the Ferraris and are painted in Admiral Blue with a bold Arctic White racing stripe down the center just as they were back then. The red Sebring stripes on the left front fender were there to help the crew distinguish otherwise identical cars during the race. Of the 1000 1996 Grand Sports (built with unique and sequential serial numbers), 810 were Coupes and this is one of 206 also optioned with the Black interior and F45 suspension. The Coupes had more rubber on the road than the convertibles thanks to those wider, black, 5-spoke wheels and tires borrowed from the ZR-1 so there were additional flares added to the rear fenders in order to clear them. The Black interior on this C4 is definitely not a stripped-down racing cockpit like the original cars. It has all the comforts and conveniences one would expect of a modern Sport Luxury car tastefully trimmed out all in Black. You may notice the Corvette trim on the door sill as you get in. That is not factory stock but has thoughtfully been added to prevent damage to the sill from scuffing shoes across it. Settle into the seats with Grand Sport embroidered into the headrests and take a minute to adjust it perfectly to your build and preferences. Both the driver and passenger seats are power adjustable at three different levels up and down the back as well as having adjustability to the side bolsters. Nice. A leather wrapped steering wheel feels good in your hands as does the shifter for the manual transmission. Modern conveniences also include air conditioning, a nice sound system, cruise control, power windows and locks. It also includes an adjustable Active Suspension system that can be set to Tour, Sport, or Performance mode depending on your preference or need that day. Under the hood you will find the powerful 5.7-liter LT4 V8 with a dress up kit that includes red painted components and red spark plug wires. It is a special high-performance version of the already powerful LT1 engine with a more aggressive camshaft, 1.6:1 roller aluminum rocker arms, along with a redesigned intake and cylinder heads that generates 330 horsepower and 340-foot pounds of torque. It is nestled into a very clean and tidy engine bay with signs of routine maintenance. The power it makes is sent back through a 6-speed manual gearbox to those massive 315/35R17 rear tires sourced from the ZR-1. Balancing out that traction up front are 275/40R17s. The suspension that keeps those tires planted on the road is the driver adjustable, F45 Active Suspension system that uses sensors and accelerometers at each wheel and adjusts shock damping every 10 to 15 milliseconds. Speed, history and exclusivity with less than 21,000 miles on it. Call or come down to check out this very special car and see what you think.
This striking ’96 Z16 Grand Sport was a one-year only build from Chevrolet, totaling just 1,000 units produced. In a special color of Admiral Blue designated just for the Grand Sports, the car was adored with red fender stripes, a white racing stripe, rear wheel-well flares to hold the massive 315/35 series tires on custom black aluminum wheels, and the more powerful 330 horsepower LT4 engine option. This car was build sequence number 772 of 1,000 and it has been perfectly preserved and is in like-new showroom condition. Loaded with factory and option features like the performance handling package, electronic air conditioning, six-way power seat, and the Delco/Bose music system to name a few. It has had only 815 miles put on it over the last 22 years and even still retains its new car smell! The Grand Sport was decorated as “Gold Certified” by the Bloomington Gold National Corvette Certification Board this past fall. The Corvette rides on a set of reproduction 17.5” black painted wheels on Nitto performance tires but also includes the complete set of factory wheels on the original Goodyear tires. Very nicely documented with its build sheet and original window sticker, don’t miss your chance to own a very rare/low-mileage Corvette Grand Sport! Sebring Silver. To a Corvette aficionado, it is a color that will be forever linked with such classics as the first Sting Ray racer of 1959 and the legendary 1963 split-window coupe. To celebrate the fourth-generation Corvette’s final year of production Chevrolet brought back the Sebring Silver finish and introduced the Collector Edition model that showcased the performance capabilities of the car affectionately named “America’s First Sports Car”. The Collector Edition is distinguished by its silver paint, chrome Collector emblems, 17-inch, five-spoke aluminum wheels painted silver and wider-profile rear tires, black brake calipers with raised aluminum Corvette lettering and Collector Edition embroidery in the leather seats. This Sebring Silver Convertible was ordered with all the go-even-faster stuff: the high-winding 330-horsepower LT4 version of the 5.7-liter V-8, slick-shifting six-speed ZF manual transmission, and the order-code “F45” selective real-time damping system to tame its track-ready suspension and low-profile 17-inch tires. Included with the roadster is the optional hardtop as well as a host of comfort and convenience options like electronic air conditioning, six-way power driver’s seat and the Delco-Bose music system to name a few. This Corvette has been in the Rick Hendrick Heritage Center Collection for many years and is exquisitely preserved with only 659 miles on the odometer. Produced in limited numbers, this convertible is just 1 of 68 LT4 powered Collector Edition Corvettes ever built with the Torch Red interior and had an original sticker price of over $54K. Here is your chance to own a piece of Corvette history for a fraction of the original cost. For sale in our Dallas/Ft. Worth showroom is a mint 1996 Chevrolet Corvette. This isn t just any C4 Corvette though. This is the limited production Grand Sport. As a last hurrah for the Fourth Generation Corvette, Chevrolet released 1,000 Corvette Grand Sports. There is no mistaking a C4 Grand Sport for any other car. The recipe is simple: lay down the eye catching Admiral Blue Metallic, set a fat white stripe down the center, lay down two red hash marks on the driver s fender, and wrap the fat Goodyear rubber from the ZR-1 around the black five-spoke wheels and you have the look complete. Of course, anything bearing the name of a legendary racecar can t be all show. The Grand Sport received reworked LT1, renamed the LT4, that has an upgraded camshaft, aluminum high-flow heads, larger valves, higher compression pistons, high flow fuel injectors, and roller rocker arms. All of these factory upgraded parts were good for an extra 30 horse-power and 500 rpms tacked on to the redline. All in all this was a very fitting farewell for the longest production generation Corvette, and with the limited production of just 1,000 units this is sure to be a collectible item in the future. This Grand Sport is one of only 190 convertibles made, and with only 4,391 actual miles it is a must have for the serious Corvette collector. The 96 GS has seen positive increases in their value over the past few years, and have no reason to do anything other than continue to climb. With the incredibly low mileage, this car is a sure bet in the world of Grand Sports. This is a Corvette you don t want to miss! To view this vehicle in greater detail including HD pictures and videos, visit www.GatewayClassicCars.com. For additional information on this 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 817-310-9400.
We offer this 1996 Chevrolet Corvette for sale in our Atlanta Showroom. This is a clean car fax one owner corvette ready for a new owner to cruise the streets. The C4 Corvette was known for its evolved, sleek and modern look. In a departure from the fiberglass panels of its forbearers, the C4s rear bumpers and panels were made from molding plastics, a sheet molding compound. The C4 fastback coupe was the first general production Corvette to have a glass hatchback (the limited edition 1982 Collector Edition being the first Corvette equipped with this feature) for better storage access. The Corvette C4 came standard with an electronic dashboard with a digital liquid crystal display dash, with graphics for speed and RPM and digital displays for other important engine functions. The C4 represented a clean break from the previous generation of Corvette with a completely new chassis and modern, sleeker styling. Since emissions regulations were still changing and electronic engine management was in its infancy, horsepower was, compared to earlier generations, low. Therefore, the primary design emphasis, at least for the launch, was on handling and braking, with all-independent suspension with light-weight suspension and wheels, and all new brakes with aluminum calipers. The front suspension saw the C3s coil springs replaced by a transverse fiberglass mono-leaf spring, which was only 1/3 of the weight of the coil springs while also introducing an anti-roll bar-like effect on the front.4 The price of this no-holds-barred emphasis on handling was ride comfort, especially with the Z51 performance and handling package. The C4 did not use separate body-on-frame construction like its predecessors. Instead, it used what GM termed a uniframe, which consisted of a traditional perimeter frame, with the door posts, windshield frame, halo, and the rear portion of the floor pan integrated into one welded assembly. This was not a unibody assembly, as none of the exterior body panels were structural members. Due to a styling decision to use a targa top instead of T-tops, there was no structural member tying the windshield frame to the halo as on the C3. This required extremely tall side rails on the frame to maintain chassis rigidity, and as a result, the door sills were quite deep, with entry and exit likened by contemporary auto journals to a fall in and climb out experience. The targa top bolted into place, becoming a structural component, rather than simply latching on like T-tops. Options include: AC, AM/FM radio, CD Player, Convertible top, cruise control, power brakes, power window, power steering, power locks, tilt wheel, seat belts, driver airbag, passenger airbag, leather interior, radial performance tires, alloy wheels. For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1996 Corvette Grand Sport. This is one of only 1,000 built in 1996 and was the first year of the Grand Sport since the Grand Sports of 1963. Some would say this is the first Grand Sport production car ever as the 63s were constructed for prototype racing only and not sold to the general public. The year is 1996 and the Corvette has said goodbye to the ZR-1 that was produced from 1990 to 1995. The replacement Grand Sport is powered by the less complex LT4 V8 and backed by a 6-speed manual transmission. Chevy underrated the LT4 at 330 horsepower in an effort to not overshadow the new LS1 engine debuting the next year for the C5 Corvette. True power for the LT4 was much closer to 380 horsepower and the new LS1 at 345. The Grand Sport was only available in a unique Admiral Blue and white color scheme with red hash marks painted onto the drivers front fender. This was an old racing theme, marking the side of the car that the driver is seated. If you were racing a right hand drive car, you guessed it; it would be on the right side fender. The Grand Sport was also fitted with giant rubber and required rear fender flairs to accommodate 315/35R17s. The 275/40R17s were fitted to the front and did not require fender flairs. This beautiful example has been very well cared for over the years while still being carefully enjoyed. Near new high performance Good Year rubber is at all four corners and the A/C unit was just recharged and is blowing cold. Current miles are showing 44,306. This is a very fun and capable sports car that is one of the few collectibles from the 90s. A lot of them seem to be equipped with red leather, this one is fitted with black leather and is a bit less loud than the all red. 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Chevrolet released the Grand Sport (GS) version in 1996 to mark the end of production of the C4 Corvette. The Grand Sport moniker was a nod to the original Grand Sport model produced in 1963. A total of 1,000 GS Corvettes were produced, 810 as coupes and 190 as convertibles. The 1996 GS came with the high-performance LT4 V8 engine, producing 330hp and 340 lb ft of torque. The Grand Sport came only in Admiral Blue with a white stripe down the middle, black wheels and two red stripes on the front left wheel arch. Only 4,204 miles have been put on this very clean factory original sports car. No runs, no dings, no errors in this finish, and it runs like a Rolex watch. A true time capsule, the underside of this car still has the factory grease pencil markings on the frame. Extremely clean, your chance to own a piece of Corvette history. Exterior Admiral Blue with a wide white stripe, and 2 red stripes over the front wheel arch. No other paint options were available, and this car wears them proudly. Gleaming perfect chrome, badging, headlights, top and glass all original to the car can be seen. Black 5-spoke wheels were standard as well and are seen all around. Interior Black leather racing style but nicely padded seats suck you into the passenger compartment. Closing the door puts you in your own high-performance cocoon, with many power options, instrumentation, and conveniences at your fingertips. Thick pile black carpet covers the interior tub, which has an ultra-wide and deep sill plate to add stiffness. Reminiscent of entering the cockpit of a race car...and you are! If the sound of the engine bores you, you can blank out all exterior noise with the high output stereo system. If driving bores you, there are plenty of multifunction buttons to play with. If this car bores you, you need to go for a ride in it. Drivetrain A high-performance LT-4 V8 engine produces 330hp. The only available transmission with the LT-4 was a 6-speed manual. This is connected to the differential by an aluminum driveshaft. Front suspension is an independent SLA forged aluminum upper and lower control arm and steering knuckle, transverse mono leaf springs steel stabilizer bar, and spindle offset. Rear suspension is independent 5 link, mono leaf springs, steel tie rods and stabilizer bar. A real time damping system adjusts suspension options electronically. A perfect time capsule, or should I say missile, in factory condition with very low mileage. This car is rated at 190MPH although legend has it if you find a place where you can max it out, it may do more. Consigner purchased the car to store it, and the mileage, and condition shows. Factory original is the best description of this beautiful automobile.
