Falling solidly in the survivor category, this remarkably well-maintained and super clean 1987 Buick Grand National hasnt been abused, raced, or otherwise mistreated. Instead, it shows just 43,170 original miles and has been in the long-term care of an enthusiast who always treated it as something of value. With the market for these cars growing each year, its getting harder and harder to find one that hasnt been modified, raced, or wrecked. These cars were sinister when they were new, and even today seeing one of these blown Buicks prowling the streets fills a car guy with excitement. The legend has probably outgrown the actual car at this point, but the blacked-out trim, the bulging hood, and the simple ducktail spoiler all give this car a look that demands respect. Thats original paint, and the car has never been hit or damaged, yet it looks a lot younger than its 30 years would suggest. The nose shows only a few signs of having been driven, and unlike cars that have been on the track, the lower rocker panels and quarters havent been sandblasted by rocks thrown by sticky racing slicks. These cars seem to have better initial paint quality than most GM cars of the period, so theres very little orange peel although it is a bit faded and there are the usual swirl marks. However, the bumper fillers need to be replaced, which is a common issue with all GM cars of the period, even those that have been properly maintained. Even with the T-tops and all that torque, the doors open and close easily, the trunk fits right, and the hood gaps are excellent. This GN also carries two-tone bucket seats with embroidered headrests, transforming the formal Regal interior to something a bit more appropriate. The original seats remain in exemplary condition, with no major wear in the high-traffic areas like the drivers side bolster. Gauges are basic, although engineers managed to stick a bar-graph tachometer and boost gauge in the lower corner of the speedometer, both of which youll enjoy watching as the potent V6 builds power. As a Buick, the GN was loaded with just about every comfort and convenience feature you could throw at a car, including A/C, power windows, power locks, a tilt wheel, and a center console. The headliner is sagging a little, a problem with cars of this vintage but its not critical, but youll note that this car has optional carpet savers that are still in place. In addition, the neatly preserved trunk still carries its original mats and jack assembly. The 3.8 liter turbocharged V6 is legendary, and while its possible to make giant horsepower with just a few bolt-on modifications, the cars previous owners were able to resist the horsepower sirens call of a bigger turbo and revised computer programming. The original components remain intact, including all the turbocharger hardware and fuel system, two things that were often modified almost immediately. The only notable upgrades are a Kenne Bell intake and some upgraded spark plug wires. The engine bay is nicely detailed, and its easy to tell that enthusiasts have owned this one, because the A/C system looks mostly new and there are correct details throughout. Underneath, its just as clean, and the 2004R 4-speed automatic transmission still upshifts almost imperceptibly and downshifts with authority when the boost comes up. This one also wears those handsome chrome Grand National wheels with black accents that look great, plus a set of 215/65/15 Michelin radials. Great to drive, handsome to look at, and with low miles and no abuse, this Grand National remains surprisingly affordable...for now. Call today!
These cars are a ton of fun to drive and they are getting more and more collectible every day. While it is temping to modify these cars because both the engines and the chassis can handle more power without breaking a sweat, the ones that have remained completely stock, like this one, are the ones that will hold their value best. Check out this well-maintained example with less than 45,000 miles on it and see if there might be a spot in your garage for it. 87 was the last year for this car that pays tribute to the NASCAR series it was named after. There is only one look for these cars, and that would be awesome. They should have called the color of this car Bad-assed Black, because just, Black , doesnt seem to get the point across very well. The front of the car leads with a simple, all-black grill which is one of the things that distinguishes this 87 from previous models. It is underlined by a body colored bumper and has a power bulge on the hood with lettering that identifies the beast within. Blacked out trim and tinted windows look great on this notchback and the back of the car is as clean looking as the front with a lip spoiler on the trailing edge of the trunk. Grand National badging appears on the front fenders as well as the trunk and alloy wheels in black and polished aluminum complete the look. Open the door and you will find an interior loaded with comfort and convenience features along with a few subtle performance goodies. Its hard to believe someone resisted the temptation to put some serious miles on this car, but obviously they did. Sweet looking Grand National seats have Gray cloth pleated seating surfaces and Black side bolters with the Turbo logo embroidered into the headrests. There is a beefy, three-spoke, leather wrapped steering wheel mounted on a tilt column that feels good in your hands. The rectangular, center mounted speedometer has linear tachometer and boost gauges in the lower right just above the 3.8 Turbo badge. Ventilation controls including those for the air conditioning are in the center just above an AM/FM/Cassette player for your listening pleasure. Keeping with the black and gray theme, there are gray floor mats protecting the black carpeting and a gray headliner ties the look together nicely. While this car looks cool and is a pleasure to drive around town, the power of the engine under the hood is what this car is all about. Buick engineers decided develop this 3.8-liter V6 into the turbocharged engine that would become legendary. Using Turbo technology to boost the output of this engine opened the door, and the temptation, to boost the power even more with bigger turbos and trick programing of the computer. But that comes at a cost. Both to the engine, and to the value of the car. This one thankfully remains completely stock. Power is sent back through a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive to the solid axle rear end mounted on coil springs with an anti-roll bar. Up front, control arms and coils along with another beefy sway bar keep the front end planted. Power front disc brakes ensure that you can haul this sweet ride back down from speed when you decide to let it run and the rubber meets the road through d 235/60R15 tires all around. Collectible. Fun to drive. Good looking with low mileage. Come on down and check this car out.
The Buick Grand National was the fastest production car built in 1987. It was also the last year of production for this NASCAR series namesake car, and the last year for the rear drive Regal platform. Even though Buick extended production to try and meet demand, only 20,193 of these cars were made this year. Here is your opportunity to buy an extremely nice, low mileage example of one. Presented in Black, (because like the model T, thats the only color they came in), this car has been tended to with the care a special car like this deserves, and there is a notebook full of maintenance receipts documenting it that you should be sure to ask your salesperson about. The front of the car leads with a simple, all-black grill which is one of the things that distinguishes this 87 from previous models. It is underlined by a body colored bumper and has a power bulge on the hood with lettering that identifies the beast of an engine resting below it. T-roofs and tinted windows look great on this notchback and the back of the car is as clean looking as the front with a lip spoiler on the trailing edge of the trunk. Grand National badging appears on the front fenders as well as the trunk and alloy wheels in black and polished aluminum complete the look. Inside this car you will find a neat and clean interior with sweet looking Grand National seats that have Gray cloth pleated seating surfaces and Black side bolters with the Turbo logo embroidered into the headrests. There is a beefy, three-spoke, leather wrapped steering wheel which is mounted on a tilt column that feels good in your hands. An AutoMeter gauge is mounted on the windshield pillar in order to keep accurate track of boost pressure. There are also auxiliary AutoMeter gauges for oil pressure and water temperature in the center console just in front of the T-handle shifter. There is an air fuel ratio controller mounted to the dash to facilitate fine tuning for maximum performance, and the rest of the dash is stock with comfort and convenience items like air conditioning, cruise control and an AM/FM/Cassette player with an equalizer for your listening pleasure. Grand National floor mats look great protecting the carpets and of-course you can pop the T-roofs out for cruise night. While this car looks cool and is a pleasure to drive around town, the power of the engine under the hood is what this car is all about. Thank goodness Buick engineers decided to spice up the 80s with a car that had some serious power. They used Turbo technology to do so, adding it to their 90-degree V6 engine with outstanding results. This engine is stock other than the addition of a cold air intake. A few gauges have been added to keep accurate track of critical engine functions, and while the factory needs to program the computer and the mixture to run acceptably in all possible situations, there is an ability to fine tune the mixture for special situations in this car. Power is sent back through a 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive to the rear wheels which puts it on the ground through 235/60R15 tires, and power front disc brakes ensure that you can haul this sweet ride back down from speed when you decide to let it run. Last year of production. A rare, low mileage, awesome car. Come on down and check it out.
The Buick Grand National GNX has always been a shining example of the law of supply and demand. You dont have to be an economist to understand that when you build something exceptional, there will be a significant amount of demand for it. If you limit the supply, that increases demand. GMs Advanced Concepts group built a Super version of the already awesome Buick Grand National, called it a GNX, and only built 547 of them. They charged a 60% premium, and people lined up to pay it. In the collectors market, cars increase in value based on how exceptional they are, and how rare they are. So now, 30 years after it was produced, how rare is it to find an all original GNX with less than 7500 miles on it? Very rare indeed. But here is a shining example of one, and it could be yours if you wish. Before we start describing this car, lets mention that there is a treasure trove of documentation about this car, the 413th one of those 547 built, that you should ask your salesperson about. There is a window sticker, factory build sheet, original warranty card, dyno sheet and an owners manual set as well as well as any technical bulletins issued by McLaren or GM. The ownership history is documented and the mileage is original and correct. With that kind of provenance, you know that the body of this car will be just as they delivered it new, with no modifications. It looks awesome in its original Black paint with a bit of chassis rake as well as fender flares that were added in order clear the bigger wheels and tires on the GNX. There are vents that were added to the fenders to let the extra heat the motor produced out, and GNX badges appear on the grill and trunk. A simple, clean, and intimidating look. Open the door and you will find an interior that is in absolutely mint condition. The door panel sets the tone with a pleated Gray velour upper panel and black lower. There is a gray strip with chrome piping capturing the door pull and a comfortable armrest with the power window and lock switches at your finger-tips. The bucket seats are power adjustable and look awesome trimmed in gray velour for the seating surfaces with black bolsters and an embroidered logo in the headrest. A leather wrapped steering wheel sits on a tilt column in front of a dash that is graced with Stewart Warner gauges including that precious turbo boost gauge. Heating and ventilation controls that include those for the A/C system are mounted in a center pod along with the premium sound system for your listening pleasure. A T-handle shifter for the 4-speed automatic transmission rises from the center console. Black GNX floor mats and a gray headliner tie everything together nicely, and again, this interior is in mint, as new condition. Pop the hood and you will find a gloriously stock, original, GNX motor nestled down in a spotlessly clean engine bay. Some of the differences between this motor and the Grand National motor include a Garrett T-3 turbocharger with a ceramic impeller and ceramic coated intake pipe for improved power and efficiency and an intercooler with more fins per row. There is also a Richard Clark developed stainless steel exhaust with larger diameter tubing and a recalibrated ECU that permits 15 pounds of boost. The power flows back through a THM 200 R-4 transmission that was beefed up to handle the extra power. The suspension also received its share of attention to maximize traction and minimize wheel hop with a limited slip differential, ladder bars and a rear frame crossmember. Tucked up under those wider fender flares are the original 16-inch wheels which still have the original Goodyear Eagle Gatorbacks mounted that are 255/50VR16s in the rear and 245/50VR16 on the front. This car is exceptional, and it is rare. Not just one of 547, it is one of, (your guess), that exists with less than 7500 miles on it. The car comes complete with its original certificate of origin, broadcast sheet, several pieces of ASC and GM technical information, as well as the GNX book, hat, and scale model. Supply is low. Demand is high. Come on down and check this car out. We dont expect it to stick around for long.
With the value of the turbo Buicks skyrocketing lately, a car like this 1987 Buick Grand National thats so well presented and offered at an obtainable price is the stealthy black machine that you know is also a red-hot commodity. You already know the legend. General Motors had a short run of Buick coupes that looked mean and had the performance to back it all up. Its Regal siblings have a great creased appearance that instantly conveys a feeling of premium. But where they liked to use chrome to make a statement, this one reserves the brightwork only for the wheels. That sends a very different message. The blacked-out trim, the bulging hood, and the subtle ducktail spoiler all give this car a look that demands respect and it all came directly from the factory that way. And they made a solid investment in a recent respray of the sinister black paint. So this midnight hero looks great no matter if its radiating the noon sunlight or a full moon night. Yes, this is a T-top coupe, so everyone can get an excellent view of you grinning behind the wheel. And because the world can get such a good view inside, the interior is looking quite nice. The correct black and gray bucket seats up front look great, and yours even power adjusts to the ideal driving position. So they do a terrific job of balancing out the Buicks comfortable image with extra bolstering for the Grand Nationals added performance. As a true high-end sports coupe, this comes loaded with all the best features. It includes a power windows, power locks, cruise control, and power steering. Plus, youve got great upgrades like an AM/FM/CD stereo and the air conditioning is blowing cold with modern R134a (perfect for staying cool even with the T-tops out!) What really makes this one so special is whats under the hood. The 3.8-liter fuel-injected V6 turbo motor turned this Buick into a Corvette contender. And because the powerplant is so essential, this one has received some big investments. While the block is believed to be original, it now has added power from an upgraded turbo, larger intercooler, and LT1 mass air meter. The suspension has also received solid investments to keep it feeling tight on the road. And Buick made these right with features like front disc brakes and sway bars front & rear. But remember, the four-speed automatic transmission is not only there for quick shifting action but also for overdrive comfort. So youll get just as much pleasure out of this one chewing up the asphalt as you will cruising under the midnight neon. Youre looking at one of the most desirable machines from the 1980s. And you already know the price doesnt get any better for a complete and maintained Grand Nationals. So this is a case of call us today, or you might regret it tomorrow!

- 3.8L Turbo Charged V6 - Rated at 235hp and 330lb-ft - A/C - Cruise Control- 200R4 automatic transmission - 4 speed overdrive- Power brakes and steering - Front disc and rear drum- Cold A/C- Solid rear axle- 76,611 original miles- 20,193 Grand Nationals were produced in 1987- Original owners manual and dealer documents includedThis is a mint 1987 Buick Grand National that is extremely well taken care of and very original. This car has lots of badging on it to let everyone know you are driving a Grand National; wheels, fenders, dash, headrest and floor mats. The engine bay is very clean and fun to inspect with the turbo and piping. The car drives like a dream, once the turbo spools up it pounces forward and throws the driver back in their seat. The automatic is perfect for this; all you have to do is hold on! The interior is a two tone gray and black color scheme. Everything inside is original except for an A-pillar mounted Auto Meter boost gauge. The original Delco radio, floor mats, gauges, and controls are all in very good working shape. It is a very spacious and comfortable interior. The black paint is in extremely good condition as the car has always been garaged kept.History; All good things come to an end, and Buick decided to go out with a bang for its final Grand National. In 1987, a lightweight WE4 (turbo T) option was offered. Only 1,547 of this variant were produced. The differences between a WE4 and the Grand National were the interior trim package, wheels, exterior badging, aluminum bumper supports, and aluminum rear brake drums as opposed to the Grand Nationals cast iron, making the WE4 a lighter and faster car. The rear spoiler was only available as a dealer installed option. 1987 was the only year that the LC2 turbo option was available on any Regal, making it possible to even see a Limited with a vinyl landau roof and a power bulge turbo hood. Turbo Regal Limiteds were one of the rarest models of turbo Regals produced second only to the GNX at 1,035 turbo Limiteds. Turbo Regal Limiteds could be ordered with many options with most having chrome external trim but for $35 could have been built with the full black-out trim option making them extremely rare. Limiteds were treated to a very luxurious interior with plush carpeting and optional bench pillow seats and a column shift. The 1987 model would be the end of the manufacture of the RWD G-Body Regal, but GM had to extend the build of the Grand National to meet customer demand into December.

1987 Buick Grand National Coupe (Turbocharged). 1987 Buick Grand National Coupe Turbocharged Inter cooled 3.8 SFI ... over 14 thousand invested in restoration and improvements over the last three years alone. This is a Matching Numbers GN. Check out the VIN on the trunk sticker against the title. the goal was to keep this car as close to stock looking and performing as possible with the exception of an upgraded coolant system brand new triple core aluminum radiator with twin electric fans and runs on synthetic coolant. This engine will now stay cool on the hottest sunniest days in Las Vegas an issue for most GN owners with the black hood soaking up the sun.. Other upgrades include brand new premium reissue stock 15 inch Rims that are uncannily attractive aluminum replicas of the originals at 40 lbs lighter for the set. They have a correspondingly new set of Michelin Defender 215 65 15 tires. All new fuel and transmission lines seals gaskets and filters. In the pictures you will see a new oil pump master cylinder (brakes) and brake lines. Fresh oil and transmission fluid. Window tint looks like new. This is the highest HP best performing GN of all the years... no T Tops Power Windows or Power Door Locks.. In addition to the front clip the rear clip also received new bumper fillers and match painted repainted rear bumper. The body paint is very presentable with just a tiny ding dent on the passenger door youd have to look for. No rust on the exterior. Interior in excellent condition. 88550 miles on the odometer. Driven less than 400 miles over last three years during restoration and not at all this summer. I have a folder of all paperwork and receipts for restoration for this car since day one.. This GN turns heads at auto shows and on the road. Im not selling it because I want to. I had brain surgery recently resulting in the loss of peripheral vision in my left eye. I can no longer drive. Its time to pass my labor of love on... Now its your turn to be the Darth Vader of your neighborhood. If youve been looking for a GN this is the best for the money available in the Cleveland market at this time. Im firm on my asking price of $24000. I have at least 28K invested in the car 40K total counting the 12K that was invested into the car during the first restoration between 1997 9.. The rims that will be sold with the car are the 15 stock looking type in the solo wheel pic with the turbo 6 center caps and new Michelin Defender tires. They were made F o r this GN and wouldnt look right on any other car. Comes with Buick Grand National car cover.. I have a second set of brand new rims with performance tires that I ordered for this car. They are featured in the main ad pic and are Chip Foose aluminum 18 x 8 with Continental performance tires. Size 245 45 ZR 18. The wheels and tires have approximately 100 miles on them. Just $1500 extra for the set of Foose wheels with tires if purchased with the car. A $4200 investment in wheels and tires you can have for just an additional $1500. They are featured in the main ad pic... This should sell quickly at $25500 total for the GN with both sets of new wheels and tires.. Note. Absolutely no trades whatsoever! Will be sold for cash money before I sign over the clear title and you must show me the money before you test drive the car. You must come to Elyria to see the car as I dont drive anymore..
