Thats because theyre arent many, and even fewer that were painted by the delivering dealer, have less than 2,000 original miles, and have all the supporting original documentation, including the original one owner George title, original window sticker, original owners manual, original sales brochure, and original drive out tag. These cars are becoming increasingly collectible and are almost impossible to find with this low milage and all the paperwork even near this asking price. The body design of the DMC-12 was a product of Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design and is paneled in brushed SS304 Stainless Steel. Except for three cars plated in 24-Carat Gold, All DMC-12s left the factory without paint or clearcoat. This is one of the very rare stainless steel body and plastic bumper DeLoreans that was painted by the selling dealer for promotional purposes. That dealer was Hub Ford of Atlanta, GA, who proudly displayed the car in their showroom after painting it. On August 4, 1987, the first owner, James Tolleson (also from Atlanta) purchased the car with 232 miles on the clock. The car was then driven occasionally for the next twenty years but mainly remained the staple of a private collection. With just 1,641 miles recorded in 2013, the owner did a comprehensive restoration is excess of $20,000. All parts and components were purchased from DeLorean Motor Company in Huble, TX. Everything was overhauled at no expense spared. Today, the car has 1,671 actual miles and comes from our local clients esteemed collection. The original 2.8L V6 fires on command and the car runs strong. Power is transferred smoothly through the preferred 5-speed gearbox. All the original documentation has been preserved, which has been cataloged on a professional poster highlighting the cars history. This is an awesome vehicle and worthy of any enthusiasts garage. This is an investment car that will surely gain value over time. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on our main website: Garage Kept Motors. All great collector cars come with a story. This car has a great one. This 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 found it s way to the Rayco showroom back in November of 2006. It was sold the same month to a gentleman from Hawley Pennsylvania. The car had 26,565 miles on it at the time of sale. The car was driven 1,135 miles during the course of the next 10 years. One Saturday afternoon in August of 2016 we received a call from the gentleman s sister. The owner had passed away and his sister was named the executor of his will. She explained that there was a car in his garage she needed to sell. Unfortunately, she didn t know anything about the car including what kind of car it was. She explained that at her age she was unable to take photographs of the car to email or text to us so we could get a better understanding of what kind of car it was. We asked where the car was located. She explained where the house was located and inquired why she was calling us to buy the car as there had to be 100 car dealers between us and the car. She said that she called us because our logo was on the back of the car. With that we decided that it was worth taking the drive to see what this mystery car was. The following week we arrived at the house to find this piece of automotive and cinematic history. The car was covered in blankets, boxes and a plethora of other items. As I started to dig the car out in the August heat and humidity, it became apparent that the car hadn t been run in a long time. We attached a battery jumper box, but the only result of that action was the radio began to play and the gauges sprung to life. We were able to reach a purchase agreement with the executor, and towed her to our shop where she began her two year (and very extensive) restoration process. The car we present to you today, is a result of that process. We started by rebuilding the original engine and went on from there. We have all the receipts from the restoration and they will be made available to the next col
