1979 Volkswagen Beetle ConvertibleThis is a factory fuel injected car. it runs a drives great To comply with tightening emission standards, the 1600 cc engine in Japanese and North American markets received Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, rather than the D-Jetronic system formerly used in the VW Type 3 and Type 4. The injected engine received a new muffler and in California a catalytic converter. This necessitated a bulge in the rear apron under the rear bumper and replaced the distinctive twin "pea shooter" tailpipes with a single offset pipe, making injected models identifiable at a glance. 5 mph (8.0 km/h) bumper-equipped North American models retained fender-top front indicators. The 1303 received rack and pinion steering. In North America, the 1303/Super Beetle sedan was moved upmarket and was now christened La Grande Bug.
For sale in our Scottsdale Showroom is this 1979 VW Beetle convertible with a Fuel Injected engine and 5 speed transmission. The 1979 model year was the last year for the convertible Beetle which makes this car even more desirable. There were many upgrades done to the Beetle throughout its long production history and this car incorporates many of those improvements. The Bosch electronic fuel injection on this car insures easy starting in all weather and increases horsepower and gas mileage. The Macpherson strut front suspension gives this Beetle better handling and rid than earlier models. Unlike many vintage VWs that have had questionable and not always beneficial modifications done, this Bug is just as the engineers at Volkswagen who designed these cars intended. The body looks original on this car and is in good shape although there appears to be rust on the floorboards which was repaired with sheet metal and screws. The car has had a repaint at some point which looks good and the glass is in good condition as well. The soft top has no tears and works well, and the back glass is good, the black interior is also in good condition. There is a Sony AM/FM/CD player in the dash that works great to play your favorite tunes. This car runs, drives and shifts as it should and is ready to take you on your next open road adventure, so put the top down, let the sun shine and let the good times roll in this classic VW Beetle convertible! This is how you want your VW to be. You start with a final-year one like this 1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible and give it the right look of distinction and subtle upgrades to be a terrific total package. The yellow on this car is quite bright. Its the product of taking the original color and restoring the luster later in life. Plus, the bright chrome bumpers, shining trim, mirror-like wheel covers, and upgraded exhaust tip all come together to create the perfect personality for a sunny-day Beetle. And while you want to always be open to the world, the nice black top also looks well-coordinated thanks to the classic black running boards. In fact, with these crisp black elements in place, this Beetle looks more like a bumble bee. We have plenty of receipts showing interior upgrades in 2016. That kind of recent investment means the front bucket seats, back seat, and door panels all look fresh in a bright tan. And even the black carpeting feels plush. You get all the right iconic elements in the Beetle, including the Wolfsburg crest on the steering wheel and the single pod for the stylish VDO gauge. This car is also about the thoughtful touches like the dash cover and AM/FM/cassette stereo to keep this cruising machine with the best tunes. But the best feature of this interior is how it continues to carry that simple and sturdy feeling that comes from decades of building these Beetles correctly. The air-cooled motor has a hypnotic hum, and Ferdinand Porsche placed it in the rear to get the most out of the small powerplant. Thats what give this Beetle such an appeal. This 1600 motor was the largest of the series, and so you get the best original style-power to pair with the sturdy and versatile four-speed manual transmission. In total, this package allows you to confidently get the most out of the motor. Plus, as a Super Beetle, you know you get the best of the breed. The MacPherson strut independent front suspension with sway bar is a welcomed addition to those who enjoy cruising their classics. A sunny-day classic Volkswagen in a true sunny-day color. This is vintage motor youll truly enjoy, but only if youre quick enough to catch this Bug. Call today!!!

Fantastic triple white super beetle. Purchased in '92 with 42k... sat on blocks for 15 years, then fully restored by Skyline Auto in western VA. Been run once every month or so and stored in a garage. Rebuilt engine has less that 1000 miles on it... all in all, it has less that 50k on her. She is gorgeous. No AC, but wired for it. All original glass and body. Never hit or had any rust repaired.
SALE PENDING 1/23-----This classic Beetle convertible is so fun to drive! Runs smooth and beautiful. 4 speed shift. We're selling it to buy a bigger boat. Mint condition inside and out. Convertible top and boot in excellent condition. Has been repainted. Original Blaupunkt stereo works great. Hazards come on but don't flash and windshield washer leaking a bit, but I may have that fixed by sale time. Just had all new custom gas lines and hoses installed. Was stored inside in Ohio by my Aunt who owned it from 1997-2015 - never saw a winter road and she only drove to cruise-ins and parades. Sold it to me when she stopped driving in 2014 and I had it shipped down here to FL. There is an issue with the speedometer /odometer. The speedometer worked when I had it trucked down here, but stopped since. The odometer must have stopped working when she owned it (and she would not have disconnected it). I have previous title showing 12,635 miles in 1997, when she bought it, and A STICKER ON THE DOOR FROM AN OIL CHANGE IN 7/06 SAYS 15,926 miles. I've only put about 120 miles on it since I got it. So I'm thinking it probably has about 20 something thousand miles.
