CLASSIC 3rd (3C) GENERATION 1979 L-82 CHEVROLET CORVETTEGENERAL BACKGROUND... the 3rd (C3) generation Corvettes essentially brought the famed Mako Shark II concept car to life. Most notably perhaps, they introduced the first removable “T-Top” panels to a production car, many years after Cord designer Gordon Buehrig invented them for his Tasco prototype. It was in 1979 – as seen on this car – that factory Front and Rear Spoilers were first offered as an option. All 1979s featured the previous year’s Pace Car seating…as you will also see in this car.THIS IS A HIGHLY ORIGINAL, LOW-MILEAGE, DOCUMENTED SOUTHERN CAR… It’s hard to find adult-driven 1979s as nice as this! We do not see any evidence of repainting, and changes have been relatively limited. For example, a modern audio system has been installed, as well as a rebuilt Quadrajet Carb – but the originals will be included with the car if desired. A “Mad Dog” 700R4 4-speed overdrive transmission was installed too. The new transmission was not compatible with the speedometer/odometer cable so the speedometer/odometer are not working at the moment. However, a new speedometer cable and gear are pictured and come with the car.“MAINTAINED” - NOT “RESTORED” Collectors are increasingly preferring well-maintained vs. restored classics. 100% originality is exceedingly rare, but highly original cars like this are widely sought and treasured when found.FACTORY OPTIONS… as the original Window Price Sticker will show, the car has 11 desirable extra-cost options – including the more powerful L82 5.7 Liter V8, which was $595 (a lot of $$ in 1979). See images for full option details on the showroom sticker.OVER 100 IMAGES IN SIX IMAGE SETS… This is a great car, and we want you to see it in full detail. Most of the images will show just how nice the car is…and some others will show you a bit of the patina of age and normal respectful use. The images are arranged as follows…· First Image Set of 23 pictures introduces the car from an overall perspective…serious prospective buyers should also examine Image Sets 2-6. · Image Set #2 shows the document binder included with the car. It has many original purchase documents, the original showroom window price sticker, and many maintenance receipts. · Image Set #3 shows the Exterior of the car in detail · Image Set #4 shows the Interior in detail · Image Set #5 shows the Engine Compartment · Image Set #6 shows the Undercarriage in detail OPERATIONAL REPORT... the car is a pleasure to drive and is definitely an attention getter. Millennials may not know when it was made – or perhaps even what it is – but they know it is classic and cool! Contributing to a well-controlled ride, is a rebuilt suspension system. The Air Conditioner blows cold and was thoroughly serviced in 2013 – including a replaced compressor and conversion to R134. There is an under-hood shutoff for the heater core which helps keep the cabin cooler when no heater is needed. The power antenna must be raised/lowered manually. The upgraded/modernized audio system likely has a small electrical “draw” even when the ignition is “off”, so a master cutoff switch has been added near the battery to prevent battery drain when parked. During the photo-session, the horn, power windows and wipers were all tested and worked. All gauges were operational…including the clock (though accuracy on these clocks is not what we have on today’s cars).Overall, a very nice 1979 Corvette that those who have owned these cars in the past will appreciate as one of the better examples they have seen. Especially if you are a first-time vintage Corvette buyer, please know that these cars were engineered for dynamic looks, great handling, and impressive performance. A smooth and quiet ride was reserved for Cadillacs – not Corvettes. Today, we get Cadillac comfort and Corvette-like performance on many cars…but back in 1979, cars were engineered completely different and more narrowly focused.LOCATION: Cumming, GA (approx. 40 miles from Atlanta)EXCELLENT INVESTMENT – cars of the 1950s and 1960s are highly coveted. Now, the best of the 1970s cars are coming into focus and collectability – with particular emphasis on performance cars. This 1979 Corvette is a beautiful example of how Corvette closed that decade, and will enjoy increasing interest in the years to come. ODOMETER NOTE...40,497 miles are indicated on the odometer, but it has stopped. As mentioned earlier in the description, the speedometer cable/gear broke when the upgraded 700R4 was installed (a new cable/gear are included with the car and shown in the images). Due to the 5-digit design limitations of odometers of this era, it is impossible to know the car's actual mileage with certainty. However, the indicated mileage is believed to be close to the original mileage…and the current title issued in 2013 states the mileage at 37,611 at that time.PAYMENT DETAILS: Payment is due either in CASH, or by Bank to Bank Wire Transfer…NO checks and NO financing. IMPORTANT DOCUMENT & FINAL REMARKS: A Bill of Sale, Georgia Registration document, and Title will be provided to the buyer. This Vehicle is sold strictly as-shown and on a final as-is basis without any warranties expressed or implied due to age. Even the very best restored classics will require additional maintenance and service - often without warning. Therefore, please expect to continue - as the new owner and caretaker of this classic - to perform additional maintenance and repairs. We hope that you are able to enjoy the car without the need for an immediate repair - but understand that this indeed could be found necessary. As seasoned collectors know, every time you start (or attempt to start) a classic car is a new experience...it could be a wonderful ride, or a new repair to undertake. That is the nature of the hobby, and this car (or any classic car) should not be purchased if you are not prepared for this reality. We have presented the car accurately to the best of our ability, but oversights are possible. Therefore, you are welcome to examine the vehicle in person. All sales are final. Finally, we remind you to be sure to review ALL the images and ALL the captions for this classic because - in addition to this description - they relate important information too!

With correct colors inside and out, a cold A/C interior, some nice investments, and the numbers-matching V8 under the hood, this 1979 Chevrolet Corvette is a distinct classic offered for a terrific price. The C3 Corvette has an established look of speed and style, and so nobody who sees this car in your driveway will question how affordable it really is. Thats especially true since this one was treated to a full professional respray of its factory-correct metallic silver a few years back. Its a timeless hue that fits in today considering a similar color is in style on many current Mercedes vehicles. Speaking of modern looks, the stripe package outlining the cowl hood has the kind of design that looks like Audi would want. It gives this one true European distinction. Of course, this Corvette will also never lose its American attitude. The curvy C3 body is accented further by the sporty spoiler package front and rear. And the optional aluminum wheels added some nice brightwork to these later C3s. The red interior looks exceptionally fresh because there was a solid investment here in the seats, carpeting, and much more. For the driver, theres a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel. Beyond that is the large speedometer and tachometer in front, and a full gauge package prominently to the side. Like any quality Corvette, this one comes loaded with features, including power windows, tilt wheel, electric rear defogger, and an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo. Plus, the air conditioning is blowing nice and cold, so feel free to go cruising around with the T-tops off. The original, matching-numbers 350 cubic inch V8 still lives under the hood. It appears as it left the factory, right down to the blue paint on the valve covers something Corvette shows love to see! Since this one averaged less than 2,300 miles annually, it shows all the hints of enough driving to keep this coupe healthy, without becoming a high-mileage car. It reminds you a good Corvette is a true grand touring machine, and this one upholds that idea nicely. Features like the original three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and cruise control are great for the long haul. Plus, the fully independent sports suspension and four-wheel disc brakes are there any time you feel like taking the long and winding way home. Complete with owners manual, maintenance records, and car cover, this is the affordably-priced and great-looking Corvette thats ready to run right now. Dont miss out, call today!

All Original, all numbers matching 1979 Corvette. I purchased this Corvette in 1995 from my parents. They purchased the car in 1986 from the first owner. I have work receipts going back to the first owner. Its never been used as a daily use car, only on nice weather days. Its never been driven in snow, always stored in a garage. The car starts, engine runs great and transmission shifts as it should through all 3 gears. The car was built in St. Louis in January 1979, painted Frost Blue (code 28) with a dark blue leather interior (code 292). The engine is a L-48 (350 cubic Inch) 195 hp backed with a 3 speed turbo 350 automatic transmission. The car has 56,600 miles on it now. The interior is in good condition however there is a hole in the carpet on the passenger side floor (under the original floor mat). The paint has a few rock chips and scratches from use over 37 years however is still shines great, no cracks in the paint. It looks very nice but not perfect paint, it is the original lacquer factory paint. The exhaust has its original catalytic converter, the pipes and mufflers were replaced about 10 years ago from the cat back. The car has its original AM/FM stereo with power antenna, original wheels and all components under the hood. The car has AC (R-12) that is in need of a charge, its all there, worked a few years ago. I like to drive the car with the T-Tops off but if you want cold AC, convert it over to R-134A. The car has 2 sets of T-Tops. The original tops painted to match the car with the original leather storage bags. Also a set of Saratoga glass tinted tops. All gauges work, the clock keeps perfect time (rebuilt with a quartz movement by the first owner about 1985) Please call me for further questions at (937)506-8650. Asking $9,100
This 1979 Chevrolet Corvette is a factory black-on-black coupe that has been given al the right investments so that the paint has a terrific shine and you stay cool with an ice-cold A/C interior. Even with all this appeal, and features like the original L82 V8, this superior sports coupe is still surprisingly affordable. The first thing that strikes you about this coupe is the color. Its an original black car, but there has been a more recent investment in a professional respray to keep this Corvette looking its best. Of course, it takes exceptionally straight fiberglass panels to showcase this mirror black finish. Competing for shine are the few interesting pieces of brightwork in places like the rocker panels, around the rear window, and the optional aluminum wheels an icon on these later C3s. The result is a sleek and complete machine that you can enjoy reflecting the noon sun or midnight neon. There have been some great investments in the interior, too. The full black package looks deep and dark thanks to newer door panels, arm rests, headliner, and seat covers on those flat-folding buckets. Plus, this darkness is broken up nicely by the wood-like panels on the center console and dash. Like any good Corvette of this era, this one comes loaded with power windows, tilt steering column wheel, electric rear defogger, and an upgraded AM/FM cassette stereo. For the driver, theres a comfortable three-spoke sports steering wheel. Beyond that is the large speedometer and tachometer in front, and a full gauge package prominently to the side. When you want to show the world that your interior is as fantastically black as the exterior, you can go cruising around with the T-tops off. And since the air conditioning has been converted to R134a, feel free to do this long into the summer season. The engine is the optional upgraded (and numbers-matching) L82 350 cubic-inch V8. This higher compression motor was a must-have for the performance fans in 1979 because it offered 15% more horsepower than the standard Corvette V8. Just like the rest of the car, there have been the right investments keeping it in peak condition. In the last six years there has been given the right attention, including new valve seals, timing chin, full gasket set, and full engine paint. It inhales deeply through a Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with authority out of a newer dual exhaust. Plus, this is a classic thats great for the open road thanks to newer front bushings and a rebuilt Positraction rear. It also has a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, fully independent suspension, and updated four-wheel disc brakes. Complete with maintenance records, this quite correct and all-black coupe is the perfect way to get an affordable Vette with killer looks and the right investments.

Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this sharp red 1979 Chevrolet Corvette. Driven only 61k actual miles on its numbers matching engine and transmission, this car has tons of value. The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) was a sports car that was produced by Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. Engines and chassis components were mostly carried over from the previous generation, but the body and interior were new. It set new sales records with 53,807 produced for the 1979 model year.3 The C3 is the third generation of the Chevrolet Corvette, and marks the second time the Corvette would carry the Stingray name, though only for the 1969 - 1976 model years. For sale in our St. Louis Showroom is a gloss black 1979 Chevrolet Corvette. The gloss black paint was sprayed 5 years ago in a 2-stage enamel and clear application. The oyster in color cloth interior has been upgraded by way of black leather bolsters in the seats and woodgrain trim on the console. A rack and pinion steering setup and coil over shocks in the rear help this Corvette handle better than it did when new. A Crate 350 CID V8 was installed 6 years ago and runs strong! The V8 engine features alloy valve covers, Edlebrock aluminum intake, a Holley fuel injection setup, and a D.U.I. distributor. An aluminum radiator has been employed to keep this Crate 350 cool on hot days. A rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission was installed 3 years ago and shifts the power beautifully to the IRS (Independent Rear Suspension) with 3.08 gears. The odometer reads 61,265, which represents the actual mileage on the car, and approximately 25,000 on the Crate V8 engine. Options for this 1979 Chevrolet Corvette include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with Cassette Player, T-Tops, Cruise Control, Tilt/Telescopic Wheel, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Windows, Raised White Letter Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. Gateway Classic Cars of Saint Louis is proud to offer a very unique 1979 Pro Street Chevrolet Corvette that has been built for the street, the strip, and as a show car. You catch this Corvette out and about at some car shows usually with a crowd gathering around and gawking at how extreme this build is. Under the hood rests a BBC 511cid V8 that is pumping out over 700 horsepower. This engine has been a no expense spared build that includes Diamond Racing Pistons, Dart Intake, Holley Dominator 1050 Carburetor, Air Motive Fuel System, custom fabricated Radiator for better cooling and much more. This engine is exhaling through a pair of Hooker Super Competition Headers with a Ceramic Coated Flowmaster Exhaust System which sounds amazing! All of this power is paired with a TCI Full Manual Turbo 400 Trans with a TCI 4000 Stall Converter. The tires spin through a narrowed Moser 33-Spline Axles with a 4.56 gear. Full Alston 4-link suspension with QA1 coil overs keep this beauty in a straight line while you stomp on the gas pedal. This beauty has had extensive chassis reinforcement to make sure that this gorgeous Corvette translates power to the ground appropriately. Stopping power comes courtesy Aerospace Component Billet disc brakes tucked behind Centerline Wheels wrapped in some sticky Mickey Thompson tires. The paint on this Corvette is of high quality. Every bit of this Corvette has been modified with parts you cannot just buy off a shelf at your local auto parts store. This Corvette would take nearly 6 figures to replicate and has many trophies to prove that it is one of a kind.
