The 1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible was truly the end of an era. They have languished for years on the sidelines of the hobby, but they are finally seeing some serious attention by hobbyists who realize that theyll never see a car like this again. Values are going up, so use this as your opportunity to get the last of the big Eldos while theyre still affordable. GM billed the 76 Eldorado as the last convertible, and while that turned out not to be the case, it was definitely the end of an era. Never again will land yachts like this roam the highways, and to most enthusiasts, the 76 was the best-looking of the final full-sized Cadillac ragtops. Fender skirts were gone, the clean front end with rectangular headlights will never go out of style, and despite being over 17 feet long, it wears its proportions perfectly. This one offers Chesterfield Brown bodywork, which was a popular color then thats making a big comeback today. The paint is in good condition for its age, showing a few signs of use and some discoloration on the fender extensions, which is typical (they usually didnt even match on the showroom floor). The chrome is in excellent condition and details like the filler panel below the rear license plate and rubber extensions under the taillights are in excellent shape. However, its the interior that truly sets this one apart. Finished in natural Buckskin leather, it looks almost completely unmarked and doesnt betray its mileage in any way. Even the drivers seat shows a minimum of wrinkles and creases. How they managed that, I cant say, but it is every bit as nice as it appears in photos. The carpets, the dash pad, and even the door panels, which tended to crack with exposure to the sun, are all extremely nice. Theres also an ultra-rare carpeted floor mat, which you wont find in any catalog, and the original AM/FM stereo radio is still in the dash. GMs famous scissor-style power top folds neatly into the well where it takes up exactly zero shoulder space in the back seat, making this a true 6-seater. The giant trunk is outfitted with correct mats, a full-sized spare, and a jack. It was also the final year for Cadillacs 500 cubic inch V8. Smooth and effortless, it moves the 5200 pound ragtop easily. It seems to ignore hills and the load of the A/C compressor, and teamed with the TH425 automatic, it remains a superb highway cruiser. Like the rest of the car, the engine bay is tidy and in very good condition, with plenty of evidence of recent work. It has been tuned and the belts and hoses are new, so its ready to enjoy. The original Quadrajet carb was rebuilt, it wears correct Cadillac Blue engine enamel, and theres R134a refrigerant in the A/C system. Underneath its impressively solid, with a replacement exhaust system and standard 4-wheel disc brakes, which were also just serviced. 235/75/15 whitewall radials are fitted to the original wheels and carry correct hubcaps with black centers, which was a 1976-only feature. Fans of 70s luxury cannot do better than the legendary Eldorado convertible, and this one is extremely good in a lot of ways. Call today!
As the 1970’s came to a close full-size Detroit automobiles started to disappear. With car sizes shrinking so did the engines powering them. 1976 would be the final year for the 500 cubic-inch V8 motor in the Cadillac lineup making this Eldorado one of the last of its breed. With front wheel drive and a host of luxury options the Eldorado was always at the forefront of automobile quality and technology. For 1976, Cadillac offered a special “El Deora” package that included a custom reworked chrome grill, heavy padded landau roof and custom trunk with faux spare tire hump. Cadillac has always built their cars with the best of everything and this special edition coupe follows that trend. The Eldorado is loaded with factory equipment and options like power disc brakes, power steering, power sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, leather interior, power seats, and tilt steering to name just a few. Believed to be a one owner car and have less than 23K original miles this classy coupe is in tremendous condition cosmetically and mechanically. Some 14,000 would be sold, many purchased as investments. The final 200 were designated as "Bicentennial Edition" commemorating Americas 200th birthday. These cars were white with a dual-color red/blue pinstripe along the upper bodyside and inside, a commemorative plaque was mounted on the dashboard. When Cadillac reintroduced the Eldorado convertible for the 1984 model year, several owners of 1976 model convertibles felt they had been deceived and launched an unsuccessful class action lawsuit against General Motors. Having received a major facelift the previous year, the 1976 Eldorado received only minor styling changes, including a new grille and revised taillamp lenses. To see over 80 photos of this car, including under carriage please visit our website www.grautogallery.com
1976 Cadillac Eldorado. The Eldorado name plate was used the top of line Cadillacs for the first couple generations. Starting in 1971 the Eldorado would take on its 7th rendition and became what most people know as a Cadillac. Big, comfortable, and just more of everything in general was the new Cadillac. The Eldorado had grown to an astonishing 19 ft and looking even longer when the custom fender skirts were added. The new style did wonders for sales with over 51k being sold in 73 it seemed that everything was going great. In 76 GM heavily promoted the Eldorado as the last American car which many purchased them as investments. This one is a very good example of that. This Cadillac will go great in any collection. Painted fleethorn red, the body is excellent condition. With the white soft opera top the beautiful exterior pops that much more and makes this Cadi one of the few cars that look just as good sitting still. Pop the hood and the huge, freshly rebuilt 500 CI motor looks right at home and even has room to spare. The chrome bumper upfront is in good condition and is a quality piece that only Fleetwood could produce. The interior is exactly what you can expect from Cadillac, Big, comfortable, and full of luxuries. The white leather is in exceptional condition with the padding and cushion being just as nice. This Eldorado includes, AC, AM/FM/8 track, Cruise, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Power Locks, 6-way Power Seats, Power Windows, Telescopic wheel, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, Wood grain package,White Walls, Hub Caps, and Radial Tires.

1976 CADILLAC ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE for sale. Motorcar Classics is excited to present this stunning brilliantly original 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible featured in very rare black with matching black leather and convertible top. The 1976 Eldorado convertible was billed as Americas last convertible, making it an instant collectible, but ultimately the claim was to prove false as American convertibles were reintroduced in the 1980s. That does not diminish the fact that the 1976 Eldorado is a very special car powered by Cadillacs 500 CI V8 with front-wheel drive. Our car is in the very rare triple black color combination and it has covered just over 40,000 miles. The paint and interior are factory original and immaculate. Only the fender end caps, which typically deteriorate, have been replaced. Everything works properly and the car has an incredible presence on the road.
1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible Everything works from the AM/FM signal-seeking radio and its power antenna, power steering with tilt and telescopic wheel, power four-wheel disc brakes, power windows, 6-way power seats, power top, Climate Control Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, electric trunk pull-down, etc. The car wears 5 brand new WW radial tires, a brand new premium battery, and has had a full fluids exchange and service. ONE-OWNER, LOW MILEAGE CAR This is a genuine one-owner car wearing its original Phoenician Ivory paint and matching interior, showing only 60k miles. Even the carpets are original and beautiful!) All books and records come with the car, including a clean A title, as well as a collection of original literature ranging from a Shop and Owners Manuals to factory brochures. Nothing has been altered from stock, and the detailed engine compartment and trunk reveal that nothing has been tampered with; its all bone stock, and collector survivor quality. The Last American Full-size Convertible For virtually every make and model of collector car, there is one year that is considered the best and the most collectible. For 7th gen Cadillac Eldorados, it is unquestionably the 1976. The Eldorado was given rectangular headlamps, full rear wheel openings without fender skirts and overall crisper lines which resulted in a much sleeker appearance, reminiscent of the 1967-70 models, which are milestones in Cadillac styling, although they lacked a convertible model. 1976 was announced as the final year for the Eldorado convertible and the car was heavily promoted by General Motors as the last American convertible. Having received a major facelift the previous year, the 1976 Eldorado received only minor styling changes, including a new grille and revised taillamp lenses. Not surprisingly, many purchased as investments. By popular demand, Cadillac reintroduced the Eldorado convertible for the 1984 model year, but it was a completely different car, nowhere near the stature and majesty of the 76. As a result, the 1976 has remained a true testament to the end of an era. The term land yacht might well have been coined for this last American convertible. The overall length is 224.1 inches (18.675 ft). Curb weight tipped the scales at a full two and a half tons (5400 lbs!). The Cadillac Eldorado used front-wheel drive, so GM could install longitudinally mounted V8 engines. A highly modified Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission sent power to the front wheels. It also effectively eliminated torque steer, an impressive feat given the Eldos torquey V8 engine. The Eldorados front suspension was by torsion bars, while the rear used load-leveling air springs, as this generation car was all about a smooth ride. Indeed, the 1976 Cadillac Eldorado rides like a cloud. Braking is via (new for 76) four-wheel discs, which reduced stopping distances and fade. As an aside, disc brake versions of classic cars, like the mid-year Corvettes, are far more valuable than their drum brake predecessors.) Under the long hood is an appropriately gargantuan engine: 8.2 liters, a full 500 cubic inches. Until quite recently, this held the distinction of being the biggest engine ever offered in a postwar production car. Despite factory mods to improve fuel economy, Motor Trends July 75 test of a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado (with the same engine as the 76) took 10.9 seconds to reach 60 mph, not too shabby for such a behemoth, and she runs on Regular gas. These 7th gen Eldos have finally come into their own. They are a testament to a time when bigger was better, when nothing was too extravagant, and when quality really mattered. Whether you consider it as an investment (prices are climbing and the 76 Convertible is the absolute Best of Breed), or as a super fun way to cruise in the lap of luxury with your friends or significant other, this 1976 Cadillac Eldorado is surely the way to travel in old school style. For Sale By Owner Located In Mattituck, NY.WeBe Autos Specializes in Marketing and Advertising Muscle, Classic, Vintage and Specialty Cars.
