The Triumph TR range of cars was built between 1953 and 1981 by the Triumph Motor Company in the UK. In 1967, the line was upgraded with servo-assisted brakes and a 2.5L straight-six engine with dual Stromberg carburetors that became legendary. The TR6 saw its debut in 1968 and proved to be the best seller in the line that continued until 1974. This Mimosa Yellow 1974 TR6 has undergone an intensive restoration over a 3-year period that included virtually every square inch of the vehicle. The original transmission has been upgraded to a HVDA Toyota 5-speed including cruise control! The entire suspension system has been attended to including new front ball joints, shocks, sway bar links and both front and rear springs. Components have been sourced via Good Parts Performance Engineering. The braking system has also been completely rebuilt. The interior of this classic roadster features a beautiful brown leather and includes a new boot cover. Both the speedometer and tach have been replaced with top-of-the-line Speedhut models. The Triumph TR6 is the last of the traditional British Roadsters. These cars offer a pure, open air, sports car motoring experience that is unique to the marquee. The sound, the feel and the handling is something that any auto enthusiast should experience. Their traditional design, mechanical reliability and parts availability make them easy to own and enjoy. For these reasons, they have become proven investments. The TR6 hit the market in 1968 and was produced in 1976. All TR6 came with a peppy 2.5L straight six and a 4-speed manual transmission. 60 mph came up 8.2 seconds and it could hit a top speed of 120 mph.GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this lovely 1974 Triumph TR6 for your consideration. This very honest example was just driven from Pennsylvania all the way to us here in Grand Rapids, Michigan which certainly speaks for itself mechanically. The current owner has owned it for the last 14 years. It has upgraded carburetors and free flowing exhaust. The car comes with the original carburetors and intake as well. The TR-6 has received a new top. The interior remains in good condition as well. The red paint shows. The chrome shows its age some, but is in overall very good condition. The car rides on P215/60/R15 radial tires with factory steel wheels with beauty rings and hubcaps. The TR6 also has a chrome luggage rack and comes with a shop manual.... Read more

1974 Triumph TR6 The Triumph TR6 (1968 76) is a sports car built by British Triumph Motor Company between 1968 and 1976. It was the best-seller of the TR range when production ended, a record subsequently surpassed by the TR7. Of the 91,850 TR6s produced, 83,480 were exported; only 8,370 were sold in the UK. The bodywork was generally similar to the TR4/TR5, but the front and back ends were squared off, reportedly as a result of a consultancy contract involving Karmann. Born in Coventry England in October of 1974, a consigner stated ONLY 30,000 mile car! 2 owners have had it in their possession throughout its lifetime. It has been garaged during this time, and 15 years ago it was transformed to screaming yellow. Exterior Mostly straight rust-free steel panels with good gaps. Dripping in yellow, one almost needs to wear shades when viewing it inside or out. Bumpers are sans their federally mandated crash absorbers, and the car definitely benefits from the lack of them. Badging is correct, although the rear of the car is gloss black where typically it would be a matte black...we will call it creative license. The convertible top, tonneau, and boot, come with this car, and are seen in good condition, with the top being replaced 10 years ago. Also, the original hardtop is provided with this car, although is unrestored and a bit rough. The original hub caps and trim rings adorn all 4 corners and are covered with new non red line tires. Interior A wood dash with slight veneer damage stretches across the inside of the car and is topped by padded black vinyl. Essential instrumentation is seen in front of the original steering wheel, and are of course Smiths brand, which was a staple of 1970s Triumphs. Black vinyl buckets, and vinyl door panels make up the remainder of the cockpit, sit comfortably, and are in good condition. Black carpet covers the floor. Drivetrain An inline OHV 6-cylinder having 152ci is fed by 2 Stromberg single barrel downdraft carburetors. Electronic ignition, and a stainless steel heat shield to prevent vapor lock has been added. Undercarriage Frame and underside are very clean, and some surface rust is present. A stainless steel exhaust cannot be missed, as well as new brake lines, and stave cylinder. Front disc and rear drum brakes provide the stopping power. Front suspension is independent, coil springs, unequal-length A-arms, telescopic shock absorbers (plus anti-roll bar for TR6), and the rear consists of independent, coil springs, semi-trailing arms, lever-arm shock absorbers A test drive in this Triumph was a blast from the past as this writer owned this very same car. This TR6 runs smoothly, although had to be choked just a bit for smooth idle. The transmission shifted up and down smoothly, and the car started immediately with full choke. Always a snappy handling car, it brought back good memories. Some wind in your hair, and the throaty exhaust sound goes a long way to calm the soul.... Read more

1974 Triumph TR6 Convertible adored by British sports car fans as the last of the traditional hairy-chested English roadsters. While it s possible to argue with the precise wording of that statement, the TR6 was certainly antique in many ways when it was introduced in late 1968. A narrow cockpit, separate body and chassis and a bouncy ride courtesy of its rather crude independent rear suspension made it seem in many ways to be little advanced from the TR4 of 1962 or even the TR2 of 1953. On the plus side, Karmann of Germany had done a masterful job of updating the TR4 body shell while actually changing very little. The 2.5 liter straight six, while not a powerhouse in emission controlled twin carburetor form, had plenty of torque and made some of the best sounds in sports cardom. TR6s are easy to maintain, good-looking, rugged and have easy parts availability. They make an ideal first collector car. This TR-6 Sat in a garage in southern California since the mid-eighties. It s a late 1974 model. Has the 4 speed manual transmission. Have the over drive lever on the steering column right side. Since we acquired the car we have done the following: Gas tank flushed, rebuild carbs, all new brakes with rebuild calipers, Brand New Red Stripe Coker Tires, Sand blast and Powder Coated Wheels, New top installed, carpet is removed. It has the original paint. no cancerous rust. Original pink slip, plate car. 52k original miles. Please Note The Following Vehicle Location is at our clients home and Not In Cadillac, Michigan. Leyland Motors acquired Standard-Triumph in 1960, and soon began producing the lovely little British sports cars enthusiasts know and love today. Built between 1968 and 1976, the Triumph TR6 is truly an iconic British motor vehicle. These cars are loved by American enthusiasts for their low entry cost and, of course, the fun factor of a sporty British classic. Outfitted with the proper 2.5 liter six cylinder engine, this 1974 TR6 is a great example of a quality daily driver vehicle. Though the paint is showing some age, the interior has recently been given new life and will surely transport the operator back in time when behind the wheel. Theres something about the slotted mag wheels wrapped in redline tires that gives this Triumph an even sportier appearance. This car is ready for all your cruising needs, and the paint, which very well could be original, is certainly nice enough to leave alone-especially if you want the luxury of not having to worry about parking lot damages. Should the new owner want to spring for a repaint, rest assured that this car is very solid outside and in. This car is the perfect vehicle for any British Leyland enthusiast wanting a cruising vehicle for the weekends! Aside from some cosmetic items, all this little Triumph needs is a new owner to hop into the freshly reupholstered interior, drop the top, and go for a ride! A really beautiful car, excellent body with deep blue paint, (not perfect but very very nice with 'mirror like' reflections on every panel)), virtually 'as new' tan interior, brand new premium cloth top ($670 not including labor), new tonneau, excellent engine and transmission........owned by the same family since the 1980s, babied and always garaged.Recent work includes (and all work, back for decades, was done by a qualified English car specialis) brakes redone, new clutch hydraulics, rebuilt distributor, new fuel pump, carbs rebuild. Tires appear to be nearly new, engine and trunk compartments are spotless, bumpers and wheel chromes are very good, all gauges and electrics work, 50-70 psi oil pressure when warm, zero smoke, wiring appears to be excellent, floors and chassis are excellent and rust free (andno undercoating or something else designed to mislead or hide damage), overall this is one excellent TR6.Smooth, powerful, soft ride, quick steering, easy shifting, hard to beat a good TR6 for the proverbial country road excursion or 'round town, long highway trips, truth is, you can acquire this 40+ year old classic English sports car and duplicate the use and function of a contemporary car. And for not a lot of money.Although not purported to be a serious show car, this Triumph is sufficiently clean for show use (as was done by the last owner) but for general road use, really needs nothing. It starts instantly, runs perfectly, no clinks in the rear end, no issues with directional stability, just a genuinely high quality TR6.Just in, fully serviced, carefully checked over, and ready to drive anywhere...
