1972 MGB Convertible, 1 original owner, original details, mint condition, excellent ride. Must see !! Please contact: James Hood. at 916-216-6382
Excellent rust free body/floors/chassis, very good black paint. 55,000 actual verified miles since new.. Just had $7,000+ worth of work....complete engine rebuilt, transmission services, brakes redone, new hubs, on and on. And now....a gorgeous MGB, Our tests: 170-180 psi compression in every cylinder, no smoke cold or hot, 60+ psi oil pressure when warm. Al 'factory perfect.' And indicating high compression pistons for more power and torque. All new tan interior, new top, new wood dashboard, carpeted trunk with spare wheel cover, stereo/CD, wire wheels with new hubs, wheel bearings, and new chrome knock offs, wood steering wheel, oil cooler with new Aeroquip line and pressure fittings and thermostatic control, twin SUs, AND..........has perfect working overdrive. With a new o'drive solenoid. Really hard to beat a Spring/Summer/Fall car such as this.....105mph top speed, easy cruising (especially with overdrive) at 80-90 mph, economical, great handling, ride, steering, shifting, and easy to service and maintain. And still with the capacity for all year 'round use.....heaters are adequate, tops fit well and we have plenty of hardtops we can offer for any of the MGBs we have for sale. We have checked over this car, pads and shows look good, all fluids changed or topped up, front end is tight, wiring looks good, has an expensive Mallory coil and dual point distributor, interior light works, and it runs and drives very well. And ready for 'round town, daily use, country roads, or longer distance touring.
A basically sound car, last owner babied it for the past 15 years and (I am sure) enjoyed every moment.Body is very straight, paint looks fairly new. Compression test showed 145-150 psi in every cylinder, I saw 70 psi oil pressure when hot and on the highway, 69,000 original miles. And no smoke hot or cold.Transmission works well, no clutch slip or chatter, brakes have been checked and work well, came in with steel wheels and we installed new Minilites....For less, we can offer stock wheels. For more, a complete wire wheel conversion. So choices......Has a new top, a good boot cover, the condition of the interior is quite good, carpets, seats, and door/interior panels,. Has a modern stereo/CD, exhaust is quiet, all gauges and electrics work, not a spot of rust in the trunk, wiring seems unmolested, very nicely detailed engine bay, and it runs and drives very well. All in all, a nice MGB that really 'needs nothing.'Of all of the MGB sub models, my favorite is the 1972-1974 1/2 cars.....still with higher compression and twin SUs, a nice dash with face level air vents and glove box (which the 1968-1971 Bs didn't have), the stronger tans and back axle (missing on earlier Bs), and (of course) the chrome bumpers removed after 1974 1/2.So,, in the long history of the MGBs, these 1970s Bs seem like a good compromise. And really offer a lot of fun use at not a very high price.
Just finished this car for sale.....local owner had this car for 36 years, babied, garaged, zero rust, excellent body and perfect/rust free floor/chassis, recently resprayed in tartan red. Excellent mechanicals (145-150 psi compression in every cylinder, 60 psi oil pressure, zero smoke), near perfect original interior, oil cooler, new Minilite-type alloy wheels (we can convert this to wire wheels if a buyer prefers), new tires, all brake and hydraulic parts were replaced, very good convertible top, tonneau cover, all new chrome, Sony stereo/CD with USB input wood dashboard, wood steering wheel, quiet exhaust, shocks and front end in good condition, spotless trunk, excellent wiring and electrics, a nice, clean, original MGB. It had been sitting for a few years (the last owner suffered a stroke), we replaced the fuel pump and filter, cleaned the fuel lines, cleaned the carbs and voila! Strong, smooth, fabulously 'tight' sports car with contemporary performance and utter simplicity. Not a 'restored' car but, rather, an excellent original car, thoroughly gone through (by us) to rectify whatever might be wrong. Body was excellent, just slightly faded paint, and no bondo was used when we repainted car in base coat/clear coat acrylic. And, note we added another nice touch by eliminating the side lights...looks like a pre 1969 B, doesn't it? The 1972 Bs are nice with a better dash than earlier cars, face level air vents, glove box, and now rather elegant with the new wood dashboard and steering wheel.
Just finished. How it arrived: excellent body with miserable original paint, no rust, bondo, repair, damage, etc. As perfect as exists. Very good floors, even good original chrome. Just repainted in GN29 dark BRG. Beautiful. Engine: 140-145 psi compression (perfect), 80 psi oil pressure when warm (perfect), no smoke cold or hot (perfect). And runs very well. Has a modern Weber carb, better exhaust manifold, valves are quiet, no oil leaks, can't get much better. Transmission shifts smoothly, clutch seems fine, as good as it gets. Interior: seats have been redone, new interior panels, fairly new carpets all in a brown/tan color. Very nice. New wood dashboard, after market wood steering wheel, new Sony stereo/CD with USB input, new speakers, 3 pt belts, v.g top and boot cover. Wire wheels with all new splined adapters, new chrome knock offs, 175/70 radials. (yes, we have the head rests and they go with the car but thought it looked better with them off. And, too late for the photos...car now has its original sunvisors installed)

Rare and beautiful MBG GT in great condition. The majority of the restoration was done in 2007 by the previous owner. That included $10,000 in body work, paint, interior carpet, panels, upholstery, dash, head liner, sun visors, sound, and heat deadening material. The engine is a crate engine that Moss Motors completely rebuilt and sold as a new replacement engine. I have a description of break in procedure from Moss and receipt for installation from the British car shop that did the work. The engine has approximately 20,000 miles on it. I have had compression test and leak down test done and all is excellent. New tappets, cam shaft, double row timing chain, tensioner upgraded. I have had the car since 2013 and it runs perfectly with no smoke, never overheated. 5 speed transmission has been rebuilt ( from a simpatico Datsun 280z ) and has less than 5000miles. This was done with a Rivergate kit. The transmission is about 70# lighter than original and flywheel was lightened to allow better acceleration. The disc brakes are upgraded high performance, there is a tube shock conversion for rear suspension, new clutch, new starter motor, new steering rack, new steering wheel, fuel pump, wheels and tires (tires have about 4000mi), new slave cylinder, drive shaft, water pump, new windshield. New pertronix electronic distributor. Steering is very tight without play in wheel and no shimmy. Excellent jack and knockoff hammer with knockoff wrench. (Have receipts for all above which total over $34000 above cost of car)Upgraded header and exhaust & installed Webber carb in 2016. Has a great sound for a such a small motor.Sony bluetooth + USB stereo with detachable faceplate. As far as less than perfect: The windshield wipers work but are somewhat slower than I would expect. Heater and interior fan are nonoperational, but the cabin is warm even in -10 degree temperature. The exterior paint is excellent but there are a few small chips at door edges that I haven't touched up. There is no rust. I have a full binder of all service records since the restoration that I can share with any interested buyer.
I've had this car for 27 years. Drove it for the first three years then began restoring. It's been back on the road for the last four years. It's been sandblasted to bare metal- all rust cut out and replaced. New rocker-panels, floorboards and two side-panels. It has flared fenders and a rebuilt four cylinder motor bored to 20 over with electronic ignition, Weber carb and added cooling fan, four speed manual transmission (no overdrive), new suspension kit, new brakes, new clutch and clutchplate This car runs and handles great, has never over-heated (never had to use the extra cooling fan.) It has new trunk carpet, black interior, new Sony stereo w/remote and rear speakers, Miata seats with working headrest speakers, rollbar and a Monza exhaust. The new tires and rims are in great shape. It's always been garaged. Hagarty insured for 14K. Clear title. 66k original miles Passable but poor paint job. Color is techno- violet but looks black. Car looks great on the road but when you examine it up close you find areas in the paint that are less-than-perfect. The car also comes with a separate aluminum Rover V8 with Holly carb. This motor was rebuilt in the 90's and has been sitting ready to install. Needs: Rear shocks I have never kept a top for this car. Gas gauge just stopped working Oil pressure gauge Heater needs work This car draws attention and has been shown numerous times at organized events.
