Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1972 Dodge Challenger. The 72 Challenger kept much of the original lines from the original 70 cars except for a few key differences. The cars were great looking but the performance like many of the early muscle cars had been sucked away due to emissions and insurance issues. This 72 Challenger has pumped life back into the performance side with a 440 shoved under the hood reminiscent of the good ole days. The mild cam has given this animal not only a great sound at idle but an increase in overall performance. The hood has been retrofitted with one the most memorable options MOPAR ever did, The Shaker Hood. Fire this big block up and hit the gas as the scoop shakes back and forth with every blip of the throttle. Matched up to a built 904 Trans this must be one of the best cars I have driven. The B5 Blue Metallic paint is extremely clean and shows very well with the metallic popping in the sunlight and grabbing everyone s attention. Taken down to bare metal and rotisserie restored the underneath of the car is in exceptional condition. With no undercoating the builder wanted to be sure that you knew this car is right. Open the door and you are welcomed by an interior that has been redone. The custom seats have Challenger embroidered into them which is a nice custom touch. The middle console houses the original slap shift shifter just as you would expect from a 72 Challenger. If you have been wanting to get into a big block challenger that has been restored and needs nothing but a new driver this beauty ids yours for the taking. Options on this 1972 Dodge Challenger Include; AM/FM Radio, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Seat Belts and Rally Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires. 1972 Dodge Challenger. This is a rare 1 of 130 1972 Challengers made with a power sunroof and 1 of 62 made that was a ralley. In all, there were only 489 E bodies made with a sunroof between 1970 and 1972. The car is a 340, 727, ac, ps, pb 8 rear with 3:23 sure grip. This car came with just about every option you could get. Have the original fender tags that match the cowl and the radiator support but do not have the build sheet. The motor and transmission are not the original however the motor is a date coded 72 that has been taken apart and resealed as it was in good condition It does run and drive and most everything works. The ac components are missing from under the hood along with the rear defogger. The sunroof does not currently work however; have located an original switch. The interior will still need to be finished along with other odds and ends. Please Note The Following Vehicle Location is at our clients home and Not In Cadillac, Michigan. Overall this car drives smooth, stops good, is very comfortable and clean all around. If you are looking for a great 1972 Challenger to drive and enjoy, look no further! History; The muscle car door was slamming with a mighty bang in 1972 as insurance rates, emissions and lower compression rates led to feebler engines. The Challenger lineup was trimmed to two models, and the convertible was deleted. The base hardtop was paired with the Rallye Coupe and the R/T was gone. Design changes were minimal for the 1972 Dodge Challenger. The grille sloped down on each side and extended below the bumper, while the headlights were in separate panels. The taillights were located in two separate units on each side of the rear valance and both Rally grille and tail panel were blacked out. Big engines were a thing of the past, as were shaker hoods. All that was available was the flat hood or the twin dummy scoops. All bumpers were now chrome instead of body-colored urethane. Leather was no longer an interior option. Rallye gauges, however, were still available and included a clock and tachometer. The pistol grip 4-speed gearshift continued, and a console was still available for an extra $52.
