Among the last of the chrome bumper Vettes with the LT1 engine that was still flying the flag of serious power as emissions standards and the gas crisis were attacking from all fronts. Technology has caught up these days and done a great job of addressing those issues. But if you want a classic, old school, chrome bumper Corvette, then check out this ride. A couple things that make this car even sweeter are that it is a convertible, and it is presented in the factory correct Steel Cities Gray color. Pictures dont do this color justice. Its gorgeous! It has subtle tones to it that change with the light and the way it catches the curves of the body. Those precious bumpers lead the way and add a sparkle that only chrome can. Under them is an eggcrate grill and a chin spoiler to keep air from under the car at speed. The hood has double black pinstripes outlining the cutouts and LT1 in script between them. The front fenders have side grills that match the front with Stingray in script above them. The styling department did an awesome job working the fender flares and the rear spoiler smoothly into the body lines. Round taillights and a split rear bumper sit over chrome rectangular exhaust tips that peek out through the lower valence. Open the door, or just look in if the roof is down, and you will find a black interior that is the perfect complement to the Steel Gray body. The door panel is nicely stitched and has a wood tone insert with chrome piping surrounding it which is mirrored by another panel with a comfortable armrest and the door handle. Have a seat in the sport buckets with pleated centers and stitched side bolsters and reach for the 3 spoke steering wheel with the crossed flag horn button in the center. The speedo and tachometer are tucked well into their dash shroud so they dont catch glare with the roof down, and a five-gauge cluster in the center console keeps track of critical engine functions. A round chrome shift ball with reverse lockout for the 4-speed manual transmission rises out of the center console. Top up, or top down this is a nice place settle in for a ride. And the removable hardtop adds to the comfort when the weather turns cool. Pop the hood and you will find an engine bay that is unusually, and thankfully, stock. There is the #s matching, LT1 engine nestled down into it. There were only 1591 LT1s built in 71 so this is one of a rare breed. They were the high horsepower holdouts with solid lifters, forged steel cranks, 4-bolt mains, and high compression pistons pumping out 330 horsepower. That fact is advertised on the chrome air topper which is feeding air to a 4-barrel carburetor and an aluminum intake manifold. Finned aluminum valve covers and cast-iron manifolds complete the picture just the way the factory built it in 1971. There are signs of good regular maintenance with a new brake booster, belts and hoses. The power is sent back through a 4-speed manual transmission to the posi rear end which was standard issue equipment on the LT1s. The car sits on steel wheels with chrome centers and polished trim rings with 225/70R15 BFGoodrich Radial T/As all around. Chrome bumpers, serious power, convertible and removable hardtops, in a gorgeous factory correct color. Come on down and check out this sweet ride before its too late. We dont expect it to stick around for long.
We are pleased to present this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette. Completely restored from chrome bumper to exhaust tips in 2007. Originally this Vette came with an Ontario Orange paint, but during the rebuild it was changed to Salsa Red Pearl. This driver still has what it takes to put a smile on your face when you get behind the wheel. The entire steering and suspension systems were replaced during the rebuild and all function like new. The cooling system and all the vacuum and electric switches were also done and all operate normally as expected. The 350ci V8 engine runs and sounds great through the dual exhaust system that was paired with it at rebuild. Although this is not a true LT1 vette, it has the LT1 style air cleaner, aluminum intake with Holley dual feed carburetor and LT1 style hood. The 4 speed Muncie transmission still puts the power to the road and shifts neat and clean. The interior definitely does not look ten plus years old- The only hint of age is a small crack on the drivers side dash speaker cut out. The paint and exterior shows some wear but this car will turn heads when youre zipping by people with a smile on your face. The original hood with the matching paint can be purchased with the car. This vehicle qualifies for a 90 day ASC drivetrain warranty. We can arrange shipping to your location. If you have any questions, please contact Savannah Classic Cars 912-235-2347.
We attend Ocean Reef Club Vintage Weekend to appreciate classic automobiles as well as vintage boats and aircraft. You need to look back every now and then in order to see where the road ahead will lead us.

For sale in our Chicago Showroom is this beastly 1971 Chevrolet Corvette. Powered by what is believed to be the original LS-5 454 big block Chevrolet V8 engine factory rated at 365 horsepower, this fiberglass performance machine is a rocket. With the rare and sought after M22 4-speed manual transmission, you are always able to get yourself right in the sweet spot for making power. That LS-5 under the hood didn t stay at 365 horsepower, however. In 2007 this Corvette went through a full restoration, and that included a tear down of the big block to pump a bit more thump into it. It was bored .030 over and given a set of blueprinted oval port iron heads to maximize flow. True Corvette fans will note the strange color combination. One of today s most popular colors, black, was never optioned in the 71 model year. This vehicle was originally painted Ontario Orange with a Saddle interior. The restorer of the vehicle wanted to have an original big block car with black paint and blue interior, but it didn t exist, so he made his own! During the restoration and entirely new fuel system, including gas tank and lines, were installed as well as a new ignition system and an overhaul on the A/C system. All of that work totaled north of $60,000 in receipts, and it shows. As one would expect, with all of that work this Vette drives like a dream; plenty of power, smooth road feel, and easy to drive. This completely restored Corvette is beauty and the beast. It would look just as good sitting in a showroom in an aggressive pose to been shown off to friends and family as it would ripping through downtown after sunset showing the younger crowd what muscle really means. Options include: Air-Conditioning, AM/FM, T-Tops, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Wheel, Seat Belts, Leather Interior, Radial Tires and Alloy Wheels. Few cars have captivated the imagination like the Chevrolet Corvette. From gracing the silver screen, to taking the podium on race day, inspiring generations of musicians, the Corvette is firmly sewn into the fabric of American history. This two-tone 1971 Corvette Coupe represents a great patch of that historical quilt. Scooting this American sports car along is the 365hp 454 cubic in. LS5 and TH400 3 speed automatic combination. It is getting more and more difficult to find great looking big block cars such as this that have been kept up to this kind of glory, and with just over 92,000 miles on the odometer it s easy to realize this car has been someone s prized possession for years ! Swing open the long doors, and you are greeted with the classic black vinyl interior that looks just as great as the day it rolled off the assembly line. The large wood wheel just feels right in your hands, and provides confidence when pushing the limits, while t-tops give the option of feeling the open air and sunshine on your face. With a Big Block Chevy v8 the sound delivered is undeniably muscle, yet the well equipped black vinyl interior tells you that you are riding in a luxury sports car. This was always the niche that the Corvette filled; it is not quite a muscle car, nor is it a sports car. It is America s car, make this one your car today. For more information please call or email us.1971 cars were virtually identical in appearance to the previous model inside and out. This was the final year for the fiber optics light monitoring system, the headlight washer system, and the M22 heavy duty 4-speed manual gearbox. For the first time, air conditioning was installed on most of the cars, with nearly 53 percent so ordered. Engines were detuned with reduced compression ratios to tolerate lower octane fuel. The small blocks available were the 350ci base engine, which dropped to 270hp, and the high performance LT-1, now listed at 330hp .To see over 80 photos of this car, including under carriage please visit our website www.grautogallery.com
1971 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster The 1971 Chevrolet Corvette is one of the least changed from the previous year. This was the aftermath of the labor problems during 69 and 70. The biggest changes were in the motor to reduce the octane requirements from previous years as mandated by GM. This took higher priority than any cosmetic changes. One thing that was changed was the parking light lenses, most 71s have amber lenses although some early production models have clear. The resin process used to form body parts was also updated to increase quality. This was the last year for the M22 Rock Crusher heavy duty manual transmission. It was named the Rock Crusher because of the sounds it made when shifting. Still no black Vettes this year on the standard order sheet. For consignment, a frame off restored 1971 Stingray Sugar Scoop version of the classic Corvette. Almost showroom looking, a not much seen Sunflower Yellow over black leather version. Very nice and straight immaculate fiberglass and chrome, this car will have you yearning for yellow. Exterior Sunflower Yellow in near perfect condition, a very nicely done respray covers the exterior. On the center of the hood coincidentally right above the air cleaner of the engine, it appears there was a bit of heat damage to the paint in the form of slight bubbling exactly matching the air cleaner shape. It truly takes a keen eye to spot it, however in the interest of full disclosure it is there. Chrome bumpers, and all britework are like new, as the trim on the hood scoop. In 1971, fender flares were designed into the body contours to reduce wheel-thrown debris damage. Egg-crate grills with matching front fender side vents and larger squared front directional lamps are noted and correct for this year. The previously round dual exhaust outlets were made larger and rectangular in shape. and can be seen at the rear of the Stingray along with the split bumper. A very good condition black convertible top which functions flawlessly tops the exterior off. Also available a yellow matching hard top, however the headliner is green instead of black like the rest of the interior. Interior Two Showroom condition black leather buckets sit within a sea of black carpeting, which has two Corvette logo carpeted floor mats. The center console and ascending panel which works its way to the dash houses several gauges, the shift lever, and an OE Lock digital radio. Just a few missing chips of paint are seen here, but otherwise extremely clean. An armrest which doubles as a storage compartment fits snugly between the buckets. Dash is showroom, and a note to attention to detail on the restoration the vent levers which flank the shifter have near perfect lettering on them. Drivetrain A CJK code for this engine denotes it is a 350ci/270hp Turbo Fire engine with a Rochester Quadrajet single 4-barrel carburetor atop. Attached to the rear of this is a THM or Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. Noted is the total absence of any corrosion on cast aluminum parts, and the pristine condition of the engine itself as is the fully restored engine bay. Undercarriage The frame, floorpans, and rocker panels are all totally rust free, and painted nicely. A dry underside with virtually no drips, or faults can be viewed with the car on a lift. No problems to report here! If you are just wild about saffron, you should be inclined to take a look at our Sunflower frame off restored 71 Vette. Very rarely do we see a car from this year in this condition. Seats are totally blemish free and appear showroom new. Visit us at Classic Auto Mall and have a sit in this classic, you will not be disappointed. In fact, you may be just a bit yellow with envy.
