Excellent track or show car, while I have not run it on track I was informed that it was a 7 second 1/8 mile car. It drives amazing and feels like you're in the movie Vanishing Point. EXTERIOR: Stunning. Refinished in plum crazy purple. The paint looks wet, has a smooth glossy finish front to back. The jambs have slick paint and new weatherstrips. The body is straight, panels fit right. The new bright white vinyl top and bright white R/T stripes really pop. In back the entire tail light housing including chrome and lenses are new. New bumper and it has the square quad exhaust tips coming out the valance. The stainless moldings around the roof have been polished, new pop-up gas cap and wheel well moldings. Upfront has the powerbulge hood with pins, restored grill and new front bumper. Has chrome sport mirrors on each door. The wheels look tough. Has new rallyes and white letter tires. 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger RT Although the Dodge Challenger was the last entrant in the pony car ranks of Detroits Big Three, it arrived with something its competitors didnt have: the greatest range of powertrain choices in the industry, from the small but durable 225-cubic-inch Slant Six to the fearsome Elephant Motor - the 426 HEMI. And although it lasted only five model years, the Dodge Challenger became one of the most storied muscle car nameplates in automotive history, with meticulously restored and rare examples today selling for six-figure prices. 1970 The Dodge Challenger made its debut in the fall of 1969 as a 1970 model. While it shared Chryslers E-body short-deck, long-hood platform with the third-generation Plymouth Barracuda, Dodge Challengers wheelbase was two-inches longer, creating more interior space. The Dodge Challenger was originally offered as a two-door hardtop or convertible, in base, SE (Special Edition), R/T (Road/Track) and T/A (Trans-Am) trim. But it was the range of powertrain choices that was truly remarkable: 225-cubic-inch I-6; 145 horsepower 318-cubic-inch V-8; 230 horsepower 340-cubic-inch V-8; 275 horsepower (290 horsepower in the T/A) 383-cubic-inch V-8; 290 horsepower 383-cubic-inch V-8; 330 horsepower 383-cubic-inch V-8; 335 horsepower 426-cubic-inch HEMI V-8; 425 horsepower 440-cubic-inch V-8; 375 horsepower 440-cubic-inch V-8; 390 horsepower Driveline choices for various engines included Chryslers TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a three- or four-speed manual which could be equipped with a Hurst pistol-grip shifter. Customers could further customize their cars with twin-scooped hoods, shaker hoods, and rear deck wings. Befitting the brands performance heritage, the Dodge Challenger went racing in its first year. For the street, it was offered in the limited-edition T/A model to meet homologation requirements for Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans-Am racing. The T/A was one of the first production vehicles to offer different size tires in the front and back; E60 x 15-inches front and G60 x 15-inches rear. In 1970, Sam Posey drove the lone Trans-Am racing Challenger, prepared and run by Ray Caldwells Autodynamics Race Shop. While he didnt win a race in the No. 77 car, Posey finished fourth overall in points. Drag racers including Dick Landy and Ted Spehar also campaigned Challengers in the National Hot Rod Associations new Pro Stock class. In 1970 and 1971, the HEM bIowered Challengers (and Plymouth Cudas) virtually ruled the class. On the big screen, a 1970 Challenger R/T starred in the film Vanishing Point, a high-speed pursuit movie that has become a cult favorite with muscle-car fans. The movie was remade for television in 1997. Other 1970 Dodge Challengers have been seen in films including Used Cars, Natural Born Killers and Phantasm I and II; and in television shows including Mod Squad. 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A Unrestored - Numbers Matching 340 Six Pak! 62k miles (believed to be original) Befitting the brands performance heritage, the Dodge Challenger went racing its first year. For the street the Dodge Challenger T/A was a limited edition model to meet homologation requirements for Sport Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans Am racing. In 1970, Sam Posey drove the lone Trans Am racing Challenger prepared and run by Ray Caldwells Autodynamics Race Shop. The air cleaner has Sam Poseys signature. A total of 2399 were produced. Only 1410 were made with an Automatic Transmission. This car has been collector owned most of its life. It is a survivor that has not been altered or molested. It has been garaged and pampered. Everything is original except for the following:The drivers side front fender was replaced due to a fender bender with a deer. There has been paintwork early on but the car is very straight. The interior is original as is the rest of the car. The engine and drivetrain are all original and number matching. The brakes and battery have been replaced. The carburetors have been rebuilt and a Holley regulator has been added to keep the 3 carbs running smoothly. The car sounds fantastic! The car is very straight. This is very nice driver that will appreciate in value. The car runs smoothly. It starts right up and idles correctly. Everything works. It does not burn oil and has no significant oil leaks. There are several small rust bubbles popping up right in front of the drivers side rear wheel well down low. The rest of the car is pretty much rust free. Floor pan is solid. Engine rebuilt with new pistons lifters cam. headliner still needs installed. restored several years ago, the only metal replaced was the lower quarters. Not original engine or transmission. The car still needs detail work done, dash need finished, rear bumper brackets, headliner needs installed I have window trim (needs installed).
