1970 Challenger R/T 440 six pack clone with recently rebuilt engine for performance increase. Excellent track or show car, while I have not run it on track I was informed that it was a 7 second 1/8 mile car. It drives amazing and feels like you're in the movie Vanishing Point. It has the look, feel, and sound of the true muscle cars. It will be hard letting this go, but I am hoping that someone that loves to drive and loves the feel of true power will take the wheel. Documented Restored Challenger R/T 426 Dual Quad HEMI V8 4 Speed Dana 60 4.10 /// The beneficiary of a detailed restoration that was completed sometime around the year 2000, this spectacular, Hemi-powered Challenger has been lovingly massaged into a better-than-new show stopper. During that acute rebuild, the cars all-original body was stripped to bare metal, coached into shape and thoroughly block-sanded into virtually flawless surfaces. Once those surfaces were completely clean and fully prepped, a spectacular coat of correct Plum Crazy Metallic 2-stage was buffed to a wet looking shine. And today, this clean Dodge rolls as one super slick brute that, according to a 2015 Vehicle Inspection Report conducted by David Wise of MMC Detroit, carries an appraised value of $240K! Toss the hood and youll find a legendary, 426 cubic inch Hemi that, while not original to the car, is a date-correct piece. As Dodges top option for power hungry gearheads, Chryslers legendary elephant block utilizes cast iron heads, an oversquare bore, a forged steel crank, forged steel rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout 10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of torque. Behind that mill, a correct A833 4-speed is tight and shifts like new. That stalwart gearbox sends power to a correct Dana 60 Super Track Pak axle, which spins correct 4.10 gears. Naturally, that spirited driveline pushes a tagged and fully restored extra heavy duty Hemi Suspension. Stops come courtesy of correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. And all this MoPar goodness rolls on stylish Rallye Wheels, which twist F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around polished trim rings and silver center caps. If youre in the market for some solid, investment grade muscle thatll continue to build equity for years to come, this top notch Dodge is exactly the car youve been searching for! Documented Semi-Survivor 1 of 34 Challenger R/T Convertible 440 V8 4spd Dana 60 /// According to MoPar expert Dave Wise, this Dodge is an exceptional example of an ultra-rare, highly documented semi-survivor 1970 Challenger R/T convertible . Those are strong words coming from someone whos made a career of studying a lot of excellent MoPars. But, when you consider the cars virtues, its warranted praise. Lets begin with the obvious: how many 1970 Challenger R/T 440/4-speed convertibles, a somewhat rare lot to begin with, were optioned in High Impact Go Man Go paint and crisp White vinyl? The answer is this car and only 33 others. Speaking of 440s and 4-speeds, this Challenger is still equipped with its original drivetrain; a drivetrain thats documented to have driven only 39,399 miles. And, expanding on originality and low mileage, the car spent the first 40 years of its life in sunny Colorado, meaning the minor restoration you see in our pictures is the only work its largely original components have ever endured. Thats right, every panel on this Challenger is an original piece, with only the drivers quarter showing any signs of repair. And naturally, that means the cars restoration-fresh Go Mango paint is the only re-spray its ever received. Toss the hood and youll find an original, 440 cubic inch RB V8. Behind that overhauled mill, an original A833 4-speed powers an original Dana 60 axle, which spins a posi-traction differential around original, 3.54 gears. That rear end rides an unrestored chassis thats sprung on original springs and guided by an original power steering pump. Stops come courtesy of hearty drum brakes. All that MoPar goodness rolls on stylish Rallye Wheels, which twist F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs. And, between the doors, a correct White interior is detailed with tasteful wood accents and bright stainless trim. If youre a savvy collector whos looking for a safe investment at the top of the market, this Challenger is the opportunity of a lifetime. Call, click or visit www.RK Motors.com for more information!

This good looking 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T is for sale in our Indianapolis showroom of Gateway Classic Cars. The data tag confirms this Challenger is a true R/T equipped with a 440 V8 390 HP 3-2BBL Carburetor (six-pack) set-up. The owner does not believe this to be the original 440 V8, but it is period correct to the car. The Yellow is not the original color to the car. Originally the color of this was Dark Burnt Orange Metallic with a white vinyl top. We think the yellow exterior and black vinyl top. The interior decodes as vinyl high back bucket seats, but it does not designate the color. The complete breakdown of the data tag is available upon request. Overall, this Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack is in very good condition. With the recent work done to the Challenger, it will bring the fun factor. You may want to set aside a little cash as this car is very capable of melting the rear tires. Through the years of fans and enthusiasts, certain automotive terminology tends to build its own appeal. For example, in most gearheads minds the term Plum Crazy recalls one of Chryslers most creative and confident eras. R/T, short for Road/Track, invokes visions of muscle cars prowling small town streets. Dana 60 or Scat Pak incites visions of late-night stoplight brawls and octane-fueled quarter-miles. And who could forget Hemi, the incredible V8 that led Chrysler through an era of epic performance. If you are looking for first class Mopar muscle then look no further than this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack car sporting the iconic Plum Crazy purple paint on the exterior with black vinyl top. Being 1 of only 847 Challengers in 1970 to have the 440 Six Pack mated to a 4 speed manual adds even more excitement to owning this classic piece of American muscle. Given its resurgence in popularity, no doubt aided by the current LC-based version, the Challenger is considered by some to be the quintessential American muscle car: a status that naturally invokes an aggressive and exciting aesthetic. At the front of this Challenger, a 1970-exclusive grille hangs an unmistakable Challenger R/T badge between pristine headlights, amber parking lamps and a mirrored bumper. Behind that grille, a pinned, Hemi-branded hood props bold D O D G E lettering in front of clean glass that is framed in correct stainless and capped by correct vinyl. At the sides of that hood, a sculpted profile hangs correct R/T stripes amid fresh rocker trim, flush door handles, a correct mirror and ornate Challenger scripts. And at the back of the car, a stainless-trimmed valence centers body-width taillights and more D O D G E lettering between a second Challenger R/T badge, a second mirrored bumper and correct, quad-outlet exhaust tips. Open this coupes light hood and youll find the legendary, 440 cubic inch Hemi that, while not original to the car, is a date-correct piece that has been professionally rebuilt and maintained to keep it s nostaligic looks and performance. All of the 390 horses reside in a glossy Hemi Orange block. And exhaust is handled by correct, low-restriction exhaust manifolds that feed an H-shaped crossover. Slide under this spotless E-Body and youll find a solid chassis thats ready for the turntable. Satin Black paint highlights exceptionally clean floors that have been finished to better-than-new condition. Behind the Hemi, lives the original 4 speed manual transmission to the car that is tight and shifts like new. Helping transfer all of this excitement to the pavement are is the factory Dana rear end that houses a set of 3.54 gears. Stops come courtesy of correct power front disc and rear drum brakes. And all this Mopar goodness rolls on stylish Rallye Wheels, which twist radial tires with raised white lettering around polished trim rings and silver center caps. Peak your head in the window of this car and youll find a correct Black interior thats functional, straightforward and very comfortable. The front bucket and rear bench seats are wrapped in pliable vinyl covers that display hardly any signs of wear. Below those seats, stain-free carpet floats Challenger-themed mats at the sides of a correct, wood-trimmed console and cool Pistol Grip Shifter. The wood-trimmed dash seats correct Rallye gauges and has been painstakingly restored to its original glory. In front of the driver, a correct steering wheel mixes subtle form with major function. And behind the passengers, a nicely finished trunk centers a correct jack and space saver spare tire between a correct mat and new decklid decal. To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION at RM Sothebys Fort Lauderdale event, 29 - 30 March 2019. Estimate:$150,000 - $175,000 Beneficiary of a high-quality restorationHighly desirable V-Code 440 Six-Pack V-8Manual transmission, with pistol grip shifterCorrect shaker hood and Plum Crazy paintThe Dodge Challenger carved out more than a few new niches for Chrysler s performance brand when it was unveiled in 1969. The new coupe and convertible had dashing looks. Owners placing orders for the first Challengers in late 1969 had a wide range of trim packages and individual options to sort through. With its E-Body underpinnings, the Challenger also housed a number of engine options from Chrysler s Slant-Six all the way up to a pair of big V-8s, including the 440-cu. in. Magnum Six-Pack in the Plum Crazy Challenger R/T offered here. With its shaker hood, this early 1970 Challenger R/T from the second month of production has an imposing stance. The Challenger R/T s second owner must have known what he had when he parked it in 1982 with the intention of completing a full restoration. Though that owner never finished his planned rework of the muscle car, he had the foresight to acquire and stash away a number of date-coded new-old-stock parts that would prove useful 30 years later. Those three decades of slumber in Florida allowed the Challenger R/T to remain off the road and out of the public s eye. Its original V-Code 440-cu. in. V-8 engine and pistol-grip-shift manual transmission remained intact, and the gentle southern climate preserved its bodywork. The consignor started an extensive restoration roughly six years ago. The Challenger R/T was refinished in the correct Plum Crazy with a black vinyl roof, which pairs well with its polished steel wheels and beauty rings wrapped in BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Its original door card is a testament to its preserved state overall, although rebuilt gauges and new vinyl upholstery help give the Challenger an as-new appearance inside and out. The only modifications from stock are front disc brakes and larger sway bars for drivability plus a period-style radio unit with Bluetooth functionality. An original radio and additional parts, including original brakes and sway bars, accompany the car.The Challenger Registry states that roughly 1,640 V-Code cars with the 390-hp 440-cu. in. Magnum Six-Pack V-8 were built. The V-Code powered cars are the rarest and most desirable MOPARs of the era, with many collectors preferring this powerplant over the 426 Hemi. This Challenger R/T, with its impressive set of options and high-quality restoration, ensures that it can be proudly shown, driven, and enjoyed for years to come.To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/fl19.

Positioned to compete against the Mercury Cougar and Pontiac Firebird in the upper end of the pony car market segment, it was "a rather late response" to the Ford Mustang, which debuted in April 1964. Even so, Chrysler intended the new Challenger as the most potent pony car ever, and, like the less expensive Barracuda, it was available in a staggering number of trim and option levels, and with virtually every engine in Chryslers inventory. To see over 80 photos of this car, including under carriage please visit our website www.grautogallery.com
1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger RT Although the Dodge Challenger was the last entrant in the pony car ranks of Detroits Big Three, it arrived with something its competitors didnt have: the greatest range of powertrain choices in the industry, from the small but durable 225-cubic-inch Slant Six to the fearsome Elephant Motor - the 426 HEMI. And although it lasted only five model years, the Dodge Challenger became one of the most storied muscle car nameplates in automotive history, with meticulously restored and rare examples today selling for six-figure prices. 1970 The Dodge Challenger made its debut in the fall of 1969 as a 1970 model. While it shared Chryslers E-body short-deck, long-hood platform with the third-generation Plymouth Barracuda, Dodge Challengers wheelbase was two-inches longer, creating more interior space. The Dodge Challenger was originally offered as a two-door hardtop or convertible, in base, SE (Special Edition), R/T (Road/Track) and T/A (Trans-Am) trim. But it was the range of powertrain choices that was truly remarkable: 225-cubic-inch I-6; 145 horsepower 318-cubic-inch V-8; 230 horsepower 340-cubic-inch V-8; 275 horsepower (290 horsepower in the T/A) 383-cubic-inch V-8; 290 horsepower 383-cubic-inch V-8; 330 horsepower 383-cubic-inch V-8; 335 horsepower 426-cubic-inch HEMI V-8; 425 horsepower 440-cubic-inch V-8; 375 horsepower 440-cubic-inch V-8; 390 horsepower Driveline choices for various engines included Chryslers TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a three- or four-speed manual which could be equipped with a Hurst pistol-grip shifter. Big-block Challengers could be ordered with a heavy-duty Dana 60 differential equipped with limited-slip differential. Even the paint schemes said performance, with colors including Plum Crazy and HEMI Orange, accented with bumblebee stripes. Customers could further customize their cars with twin-scooped hoods, shaker hoods, and rear deck wings. Befitting the brands performance heritage, the Dodge Challenger went racing in its first year. For the street, it was offered in the limited-edition T/A model to meet homologation requirements for Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans-Am racing. The T/A was one of the first production vehicles to offer different size tires in the front and back; E60 x 15-inches front and G60 x 15-inches rear. In 1970, Sam Posey drove the lone Trans-Am racing Challenger, prepared and run by Ray Caldwells Autodynamics Race Shop. While he didnt win a race in the No. 77 car, Posey finished fourth overall in points. Drag racers including Dick Landy and Ted Spehar also campaigned Challengers in the National Hot Rod Associations new Pro Stock class. In 1970 and 1971, the HEMI bIowered Challengers (and Plymouth Cudas) virtually ruled the class. On the big screen, a 1970 Challenger R/T starred in the film Vanishing Point, a high-speed pursuit movie that has become a cult favorite with muscle-car fans. The movie was remade for television in 1997. Other 1970 Dodge Challengers have been seen in films including Used Cars, Natural Born Killers and Phantasm I and II; and in television shows including Mod Squad. For the 1970 model year, just over 83,000 Dodge Challengers were sold. Broadcast sheet sequence # 154766 VIN# JS23R0B154766 Delivered 12/12/1969 to Grand Spaulding Dodge, Chicago, Illinois.
