This is the car that started the Z car dynasty. It is a lightweight sportscar with a fully independent suspension and a torquey 6-cylinder engine that loves to run. It has been restored and repainted with piles of new OEM parts that really set this car apart from the crowd. And, it is a fun, fun, fun car to drive! Check it out. Starting with a super solid car with all original sheet metal, this car was stripped down and recoated in Safari Gold topped with clearcoat. It is a classic design that has stood the test of time and still attracts attention anywhere it goes. 1001 little details and new parts add up to a huge difference with this car. Starting up front, a fresh European style bumper shines brightly as it leads the way. That long hood with a Datsun badge flows back to a fresh windshield installed with a new seal. All the stainless around the windows looks great polished up real nicely and new mirrors and trim pieces everywhere are little things that make a big difference. Datsun in script appears on the front fender and there is a 240Z badge high on the rear fenders. The hatchback design makes this a very easy sportscar to use as a daily driver, and another European style bumper adds to the super clean look of the rear of the car. Open the door and you will find a super clean Black interior. The door panel itself looks like a lightweight racecar piece in its simplicity. Slide on into those high-backed buckets which have comfortable pleated seating surfaces and substantial bolsters to support you for spirited driving. Grab hold of the steering wheel that has been nicely restored and reach for the new shift knob for the 4-speed manual transmission which falls easily to hand and is just begging to be stirred around. New pedals for the gas and clutch making that activity extra enjoyable. The dash board is stock with the speedo and tach directly in front of the driver and the engine gauges clearly visible mounted at the top of the dash in the center. Below them are the controls for the ventilation system that includes air conditioning for those hot summer days. The tunnel and trim in the interior is the great looking, original, diamond patterned vinyl and the headliner as well as the carpeting are in excellent condition too. The engine and drivetrain on this car were the focus of a thorough rebuild by a Datsun specialist and involves an extensive list of parts that you should ask your salesman about. Pop the hood and you will find the original numbers matching 2.4-liter in-line 6-cylinder motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It was completely rebuilt to standard specifications, not over bored, with fresh pistons, rings and bearings installed before the reconditioned cylinder head was installed with a new timing chain and guides. The Hitachi carbs were rebuilt and a set of headers help the engine breath free and sound sweet. Power is sent back through a new clutch assembly to the independent rear suspension. The rest of the chassis received its share of love too with a new master cylinder along with complete brake job front and rear and a brake fluid flush. A set of polyurethane sway bar bushings tighten up the front suspension and polished Shelby Viper rims complete the picture. Come on down and see what this lightweight little sportscar that started the Z-car legend is all about.

Here it is, the one that started it all. A rare 1970 Series 1 Datsun S30 - 240Z well along its way to a full restoration. The story: a little over two years ago my son and I bought this car all original for a father and son restoration project. For every project we tackled, every original part was painstakingly restored except for those that needed replacement because of wearing or safety. The buyer can restore the engine and the exterior, including paint, and the car will be like the day it left the dealer. If you have watched the price of these cars skyrocket over the last few years and understand what a Series 1 means, then you know this is a serious investment. It will take a very educated customer to buy this car.So here are the major restoration projects that have been completed. Hundreds of hours on other smaller projects are omitted from this list.1. Interior stripped down to metal. Removed original minimal sound/heat protection as it was notoriously insufficient for noise and heat. Installed high end sound deadening and heat protection layers.2. Restored seat hardware, installed new seat upholstery by professional upholstery business.3. Restored original dash (big job!) including exterior, frame, the complete wire harness, and all gauges including lights. Some projects remaining in this area.4. Upgraded fuse box to modern standards. One of those safety upgrades.5. New brake drums and hardware for rear. New rotors, disks (slotted), hardware, and restored original brake calipers with new seals for front. New brake booster, brake lines, and master cylinder.6. Restored front and rear hubs. Everything re-greased.7. Professional rebuild and restoration of rear differential. This was an amazing (and not cheap) project. All internals now new.8. Restored all rear and front suspension components, swing arms, steering assembly. New springs throughout.9. Restored original dealer-installed upgraded aluminum rims. This was our favorite result. They just look awesome. Not cheap chemical clean up job, rather re-cut the metal with CRC machine to new surface. Plus four new tires.10. Professional install of restored and rebuilt Skyline 6-speed manual transmission. This is the best add on transmission for this car. Fifth gear makes for comfortable highway speeds. The transmission was installed without cutting into the metal of the car, so it remains untouched. The intention was to restore the original 3-speed automatic transmission but unfortunately we could not find a diaphragm for the reverse gear that was broken. We have all the original transmission parts for those with a fabrication interest.11. New weather gaskets throughout. The rest are in a box for when the glass is removed for painting. In essence, restore the original engine (which is running perfectly) from a cosmetic standpoint, restore the exterior, finish a bunch of fun little projects, and paint the car and you have a 1970 in 2018!If you have restored a classic, your expectations will be appropriate. If you have never restored a classic be prepared for many imperfections yet to be addressed. Many parts, manuals (including the original owners manual), and other miscellaneous items included with the sale. Also, memory stick with thousands of photos taken during the restoration process for those into the details. Lastly, a box with dozens of receipts that have never been added up because the project was never about the money but rather the quality father and son time. I would prefer to sell it to another father and son team to finish it. Come get it before we change our minds and keep it instead! Serious inquiries only. Please Note The FollowingVehicle Location is at our clients home and Not In Long IslandPlease Call First for lo
