For those of us who hold firm to the notion that theres no replacement for displacement , this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 502 is an absolute must see . Its got plenty more than sheer cubic inches going for it - although its hard not to crack an admiring smile when you hear that big block rumbling away under its hood, as it also features an outstanding exterior and a host of great upgrades to add an improved ride and enhanced drivability to all that power. This classic Chevy will draw you in for sure. You really have to see this car at close range to fully appreciate it, as it shows an impressive level of fit and finish. Its body lines are precise from every angle, the chrome bumpers, body trim and badging are all in top notch condition and the stance shows just the proper aggressive incline youd want in an asphalt scorcher like this. The badged cowl hood is stylishly subtle, rising just high enough to hint at the power thats waiting for action below. The revamped black interior is pretty impressive in its own right. It features an overall vintage look, but with some great upgrades added to create a one of a kind custom appearance. The wide Chevelle buckets and the bench seat behind them wear snug fitting vinyl covers and sit over fresh matching carpeting, with a pair of badged floor mats up front. Just sliding into the drivers seat is enough to make your pulse quicken - as you grip the Billet Specialties steering wheel, youll find a full contingent of white-faced AutoMeter gauges in the instrument cluster - all of them fully functional - while the Hurst ratcheting shifter waits within easy reach, housed in a factory center console thats also in great shape. A fresh, supple dash pad runs the width of the cabin just above the instrumentation and an AM/FM/CD stereo is there to handle your audio needs. The trunk area in back is very solid - with no liner on the floor, you can easily see its well-prepped components and their surfaces are very clean. This Chevelle is a flat out rocket. Theres a 502 cubic inch GM performance crate motor under that cowl hood - armed with aluminum heads and an aluminum intake manifold carrying a custom built and tuned carb, its output is substantial, offering a full horsepower per cubic inch. The custom-built headers at its sides combine with the dual Flowmaster exhaust to produce a dominating note thats sure to draw attention as the big block pairs with a 3-speed automatic TH400 transmission thats shifting smoothly and has been reinforced to accommodate the power on hand. A sizable aluminum radiator equipped with dual electric fans stands by up front to keep temperatures under control. Featured tubular front suspension, power steering and a sizable sway bar make for sharp, easy handling and a great ride, and Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners with drilled and slotted rotors match with a Wilwood master cylinder to provide excellent, fade-resistant stopping ability. A set of Billet Specialities wheels - 18 in front and 20 in back - perfectly complement the visual impact of this outstanding Chevelle. One of the nice things about building a tribute car is that you can have the appearance of the real deal for a fraction of the price. Tribute cars have been gaining popularity for years and this car is exactly the reason why. Check it out. Starting with a car that many consider to be the best-looking muscle car of all time is almost like getting an unfair head start. But this race was run clean and won through the hard work of dedicated craftsman and the commitment of the owner to build this beautiful car. It is presented in Desert Sand and you would be hard pressed to find any flaws in the paint. Its gorgeous! Bold black stripes run up the cowl induction hood held down by pins up front. The grill leads with an SS emblem and is surrounded by fresh chrome trim as well as underlined by a shiny new bumper. More chrome outlines the wheel wells and SS 396 badges appear on the front fenders. The back of the car is finished out nicely with the proper blacked out panel in the bumper sporting another SS badge along with Chevelle in script on the trunk lid and a couple chrome exhaust tips peeking out from under the bumper. The same high quality of work, fit and finish continues on Black interior of this car. The door panel is spotless with a pleated center section trimmed out in chrome piping and an SS badge at the front. The bucket seats have been freshly recovered with textured vinyl centers with smooth side bolsters. A black steering wheel with a polished three spoke hub and bowtie horn button on a tilt column with a Sun Super Tach II mounted to it. Just a flick of the wrist to the right is the Hurst shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission rising from the center console. The dash board is so neat and clean that it looks factory new. A few nice upgrades include Autometer gauges to keep accurate track of oil pressure and water temp mounted to the A-pillar and a stereo head unit that is an FM/Cassette player as well as iPod compatible with a CD changer in the trunk. Pull the pins and pop the hood and you will find a freshly rebuilt 396 nestled down in a well detailed out engine bay. There is a black air filter housing with a Turbo-Jet 396 decal sitting on top of a Weber 4-barrel carburetor that feeds an Edelbrock Performer 2.0 intake manifold. Chrome valve covers add a splash of flash to the engine bay with the rest of the engine iron painted in the correct Chevrolet Orange. Fresh components throughout include new plugs, cap, and wires as well as and new alternator and all the belts and hoses. The air conditioning compressor as well as the lines have also been replaced to keep you cool on those hot summer days. The chassis received its share of love too with fresh components and bushings that help this car handle very well. Power front disc brakes insure that you can haul this car back down from speed if you decide to let the horses run and the rubber meets the road through 225/70R14 tires on black and polished rally wheels. A better than new tribute to the awesome SS 396 Chevelle. Come on down, check it out, and you are likely to decide that you just have to take this one home with you.
Turn up the heat with this big block brute, and look good while doing it in a white suit. All those black and red cars are nice, but this White and Black car wearing some chrome jewelry will attract attention like a guy walking into the room wearing a white suit. Check it out. Smooth muscular curves define the look of a 70 Chevelle. Black SS stripes run up the power bulge of the cowl induction hood with lettering on the side just to be sure everyone knows what it is. Hood pins try to contain the beast within and an SS badge on the grill adds to the intimidation factor. Chrome piping surrounds that black grill as well as the quad headlights and a simple, yet substantial bumper underlines everything. SS 454 appears on the fenders. At the back end of the car, SS appears in white on the blacked-out center of the rear bumper and oval exhaust tips peek out from underneath it. The Black vinyl roof is the perfect complement to the white and chrome of the rest of the car and gives it a classy look that is a little bit different than your average muscle car. Open the door and you will find a Black interior with splashes of chrome that is the perfect complement to the outside paint. The door panel itself has three sections divided by chrome piping. The upper is smooth with an SS emblem toward the front of it. Chrome piping separates it from a pleated center section and another slash of chrome separates it from the bottom. A black steering wheel is mounted on a 3-spoke, polished hub with a Chevy horn button in the center. The stock gauges sit directly in front of the driver with the speedo in the center while a trio of auxiliary gauges are mounted under the dash to keep accurate tabs on oil pressure, water temp and voltage. A horseshoe shifter for the automatic transmission rises from the center console with a little storage just behind it which sits between the nicely recovered bucket seats. Pull the pins to pop the hood and you will find a 454 cubic inch powerhouse nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It is topped by a chrome air filter assembly with crossed racing flags as well as a 454 and Turbo-Jet 375HP decals. That filtered air is fed through a Summit 4-barrel carburetor and then on to a Weiand intake manifold. Long tube headers get the spent gases out and headed downstream to dual Flowmaster mufflers and it all adds up to give this car a healthy rumble. A fresh master cylinder and brake booster put the binders on front disc brakes which should make you feel better, especially when you are trying to slow this ride down after letting the horses run. Power flows back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to the rear axle mounted on coil springs and located by trailing arms. The rubber meets the road through Firestone Wide Oval F70-14s mounted on Rally wheels. Come on down and check out this muscle car with class. Big block power, white suit style.
How do you make one of the most popular muscle cars ever built stand out in a crowd? Well, the way they did it on this car is by choosing a killer color combination, then make sure the paint job makes you say wow and the interior makes you say holy cow ! Check it out. There are lots of Black cars on the road, but very few of them look this good. Black paint is very unforgiving. It shows flaws that even good paint professionals didnt think were there until they start buffing it out. It is obvious that a true professional took a lot of time and effort on this car to get all the panels perfectly prepped so that when the job was done the finish would be like glass and the light would reflect off of it in long smooth lines. Add a pair of White SS racing stripes running up the cowl induction hood and over the trunk with the same care and quality, and you are done with the paint. Then make sure the chrome bumpers both front and rear shine brightly, put SS badges on the nose of the blacked-out grill as well as on the front fenders and again at the back, and there will be little doubt that this is one special Chevelle. When you open the door, you will find an absolutely stunning Red interior. Like the body and paint, it has also received the care, attention and time of skilled professionals in order to separate it from the crowd. The door panel looks sharp with thin chrome piping edging a vertically pleated center panel. The steering wheel is a real attention grabber wrapped in Red leather. Its mounted on a tilt column and a 4-spoke hub with a bowtie center button, and a shift knob for the 4-speed manual transmission falls easily to hand. The black dash panel has been upgraded with Auto Meter Sport Comp II gauges with the speedo and tach directly in front of the driver while the oil pressure, water temp and volt meters are off to the right. Just below them there is a Pioneer head unit that is AM/FM/CD and iPod compatible for your listening pleasure. The seats have been nicely reupholstered and the red headliner and carpeting tie the look of this interior together nicely. Pull the pins to lift that cowl induction hood on this car and you will find a potent 383 stroker motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. A chrome Edelbrock air filter assembly feeds lots of clean fresh air to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake manifold. Chevy Orange valve covers have the bowtie and Chevrolet lettering polished up and looking good. Pulleys and accessory mounts are cut from aluminum billet and an aluminum radiator with an electric fan assures that things will stay running cool, even under pressure. Long tube headers wind their way out the bottom and back through dual Flowmaster mufflers. This motor sounds fantastic! Power front disc brakes insure that you can haul this ride back down from speed if you decide to let the horses run and the rubber meets the road through 285/40ZR18s in the back and 245/40ZR18s in the front mounted on some awesome looking Boss alloy wheels. A killer color combination and first-class workmanship make this car a real stand out. Its just looking for a new owner who will keep it polished up and take it out to show it off every now and again. Would that be you? Come on down and check it out.
This car runs strong, looks good, and drives great. Smooth, classic lines run the length of the car, catch the light, and draw your eye. Romping on the gas will put a big grin on your face, and a smile on the face of anyone watching. Considered by many to be the best-looking muscle car of all time, the 1970 Chevelle has smooth, graceful curves that flow down the length of the car. The look will never go out of style. This car is presented in a classic combination of Red paint, black SS stripes and chrome. Up front there is a black SS grill flanked by four headlights and is underlined by a sharp looking chrome bumper. The cowl induction hood is held down by hood pins so the engine doesnt try to jump out, and makes for an intimidating view from the front or the side. There are bold SS stripes, which are always a good look on a muscle car, and it has a wicked stance that says it means business. There are SS 396 badges on the fenders and the chrome back bumper has a blacked out rub strip with SS emblems on it and there are big black wheels tucked up under the fenders to complete the picture. Open the door and you will find a nicely redone interior that is both good looking and comfortable. The Black door panel sets the tone with a smooth upper panel and pleated center with chrome piping along both the top and bottom and an SS emblem toward the front. The bucket seats look trick all in black with two stripes running up them that mimic the SS stripes on the body. A deep dish three spoke steering wheel sits in front of a super clean stock SS dashboard that looks brand new with the speedo in the center and the tach off to the left with engine gauges surrounding them. A head unit for the AM/FM/CD player sits where the original radio was and ventilation controls include an updated R134 air conditioning system. A white shift ball for the 4-speed manual transmission rises out of the center console just begging to be stirred around while crisp and clean carpets and headliner tie it all together. Pull the pins and pop the hood and you will find a very healthy 402 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine compartment. The cowl induction hood is functional and gathers up plenty of fresh cool air to feed the beast. A black air cleaner assembly directs the air to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake manifold. Chrome valve covers add a splash of flash to the engine and red spark plug wires fired by an MSD ignition look good too. Belts and hoses are all new and a 6-blade fan helps keep things running cool. A 4-speed gearbox sends the power back to a 12-bolt rear end with an aluminum cover. The rear trailing arms are correct for an SS car and are boxed for extra strength to go with beefy sway bars front and rear help this car handle very well. Big vented disc brakes will haul this car to a stop in a hurry and the rubber meets the road through 275/35R20s in the back and 235/45R19s in the front mounted on those trick-looking black wheels. Good looking with plenty of power along with suspension and brake upgrades that make this a drivers car. Come on down and check it out. You might decide to make it yours and drive it on home.
Those with a limited budget should consider purchasing a project vehicle as an option to entering into classic car ownership.
The Chevelle 454 SS is one of the most popular muscle cars of all time for several obvious reasons. The styling is awesome, the engine is awesome, and the experience of driving one is awesome. So, when you finally decide that its time for you to own one, how do you decide which one to buy? Well, you might consider the color. This one is coated in its factory correct, Astro Blue, and its absolutely beautiful. Check it out. While the Blue base coat highlights the smooth lines of the car and the muscular curves of the rear fenders, Black SS stripes running up the cowl induction hood are a hint that this cars beauty is more than skin deep. That idea is further reinforced by the hood pins that try to make sure that the beast within doesnt try and jump out. Up front a black grill is trimmed in chrome with an SS badge in the center which is flanked by quad headlights. A sharp looking chrome bumper underlines everything up front and chrome dresses out the wheel wells too. There are SS 396 badges on the front fenders which might be a little misleading, but we wont tell if you dont tell. A Black vinyl roof compliments the stripes and another shiny chrome bumper out back holds an SS badge off to the right side in its black center panel. Open the door and you will find a neat and clean Black interior. The door panel sets the tone with a vertically pleated center section with a band of chrome across the bottom and double chrome piping outlining the top with an SS badge toward the front. Front bucket seats are upholstered in textured vinyl with smooth side bolsters and chrome framework supporting them. A leather wrapped steering wheel is mounted on a 4-spoke hub with an SS center button. The stock dashboard has a speedometer in the center with the tach on the left and a clock, fuel, and water temp gauges off to the right. An auxiliary oil pressure gauge is mounted below the dash under the radio for an added measure of safety. The center console holds a horseshoe shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission and there is also has a nice little lockable storage compartment that doubles as an armrest. A roomy back seat is a nice place for your friends to join you on cruise nights or on a road trip. Pull the pins to raise the hood and you will find a nicely dressed out 454 cubic inch powerhouse nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. A free flow air filter gathers up fresh air from that cowl induction hood for a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock manifold. Chrome dresses up the engine compartment on the valve covers as well as the alternator and power steering pump which also have billet mounts and pulleys. An HEI ignition system feeds the spark plugs through blue wires which are matched by blue quick release fasteners for the valve covers, and Aeroquip lines assure a steady flow of fuel to the carburetor with an in-line pressure gauge to keep tabs on the fuel pump. Hooker long tube headers get the spent gasses out to Flowmaster mufflers and give this car an awesome rumble. Sway bars both front and rear help the car handle well and power front disc brakes insure that you can haul this car back down from speed if you let the horses run. Awesome for all the obvious reasons and beautiful in its Astro Blue paint with Black and Chrome accents. Come on down and check out this sweet ride. It may be just the Chevelle you have been looking for.

Pay close attention, because this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible really has everything you want. After all, you get an LS6 big block power, four-on-the-floor, and a great color combo. Plus, it even comes with the documentation showing its real-deal rare Super Sport droptop. Chevrolet made less than 9,000 Chevelle convertibles, and only a small percentage were true SS machines, so you know this cars place in history is already secure. But theres much more going on here. Fathom Blue is this cars original color. There was an investment in a quality respray in 2012, and since then, it has been treated with respect a rare classic deserves. So it has a terrific clearcoat luster in the sunshine exactly what you want on a convertible. This car was made to show off, so even the hood alone has all the best elements of the muscle car era. This includes the iconic dual stripes, hood pins, and the cowl induction vent. Plus, you get all the other great features, like the form-fitting chrome bumpers, full SS badging, and Mag-style Super Sport wheels. And the white convertible top means this has a great color-matched attitude when its in place. When you take the roof down, a new attitude emerges. The full black package with bucket seats and a center console gives it the true muscle car aggression you expect from a Super Sport. Crisp door panels, good carpeting, complete dash, and insignia trim on the seats ensure youll proudly show this convertible off to the world. And the power convertible top makes this easy. But really, this is made for the driver to get the most enjoyment. The cue ball Hurst shifter is calling out to your right hand through the darkness. A dual spoke SS steering wheel means you get a clear view of the U14 gauge cluster with large speedo, tach, and working clock. Under the hood is the 454 cubic-inch LS6 V8. This car was actually born a L34 Super Sport, but it was upgraded to the ultimate level with an era-correct true LS6 motor. In fact, this was even rebuilt in 2015 to keep this true big block legend running strong. You can also tell plenty was invested in the presentation under the hood during restoration. The engine has bold paint and the shining valve covers are radiating from within the gloss black engine bay. Muscle car fans love to point out the rubber gasket around the air cleaner that gives potential for the true cowl induction hood. It inhales deeply from the four-barrel carburetor, and the header-fed dual exhaust gives it a great rumble. Best of all, you are in complete control of this huge muscle and its thunderous soundtrack thanks to the Muncie M21 close-ratio four-speed manual transmission. This feeds a versatile 3.31 rear end with Positraction. This is strong running all the way around with features like power steering, front disc brakes, the correct boxed trailing arms, and sway bars front & rear. A classic this special needs all the right paperwork, and so the sale comes with original warranty card, owners manual, service manuals, and the important factory buildsheet. This is a true fantasy-level muscle car, and if youre quick enough to grab it, your dreams can become a reality. Call now!
A factory triple-black 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS with the build sheet to prove its a real-deal Super Sport. Can this get any better? How about an expert restoration (with about 400 miles on it) to keep this a loaded and correct muscle machine. Envy is what youre feeling right now, but thats ok. The highly sought-after code 19 Tuxedo Black has been given a full professional respray during its 2009 restoration. The quality application highlights the super straight panels, and it gives the whole car a mirror shine like it was made of black chrome. So of course youre going to feel envious of the appearance, but the good news is this car is up for grabs. So this is your opportunity to create desire in everyone you pass. The black vinyl roof is a factory correct option, which was always one of the best ways to announce a highly optioned coupe. White SS stripes on power bulge cowl hood are a big part of the appeal of the Super Sport model. But this one goes much further to get the details right, like the blacked-out grille, all the correct badging, and the correct SS wheels. Plus, those Firestone Wide Oval tires are another reminder that they really are paying attention to getting this one right. Nice chrome bumpers and polished stainless fender trim help complete a package that looks ready for a weekends worth of showing or cruising. The black interior has the same desirable mean and clean attitude as the exterior. The carpets, door panels, headliner, and seats all feel fresh thanks to an investment in making sure this interior was worthy of the triple-black moniker. The dual-spoke SS wheel give you a terrific view of the full round gauge package. Everything looks correct, right down to the AM/FM radio. As mentioned before, we have the build sheet that instructed the Atlanta factory to make this an SS car, but it also will show you it came loaded with great features. This includes air conditioning, which on such a well restored car, is still blowing cold today. So youll love cruising around with the windows down to show off the hardtop profile. As a big block factory Chevelle SS, this still has a 396 cubic-inch big block under the hood (the block dates to 1971.) You can tell there was plenty invested in the restoration so that the bold orange motor, bright valve covers, and matching air topper all look like they are radiating power from within the dark engine bay. Plus, the fresh look of the belts, wires, and hoses reminds you one again how little this has traveled since restoration. The mighty V8 inhales deeply through a four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with authority as headers feed the dual exhaust. And the clean undercarriage gives you a terrific view of the sports suspension that includes sway bars front & rear as well as the fully boxes rear trailing arms. But as much as a Chevelle SS is a wild muscle machine, it has features like power steering, front disc brakes, a limited slip rear end, and a strong TH400 three-speed automatic transmission to keep it quite a nice cruiser. Complete with owners manual, service manual, and the all-important build sheet, this is a real-deal triple-black intimidation machine. It will find a new home soon, so you might want to hurry up if its going to be you. Call now!

Why This Car Is Special This Chevelle has been restored and is in a very desirable color combination and is ready to show. Mechanical A built 350 CID V8 rests under the hood, until you turn the key and it roars to life. The full length headers run to an X-pipe and out through mufflers. A Holley 4-barrel carburetor feeds this small block Chevy and the spark is provided by an HEI system. A chrome dress up kit make this Chevelles engine compartment show ready. An electric fan has been added to insure the engine stays nice and cool for longer drives. A Turbo 350 automatic transmission runs to a 12-bolt rear end out back. Interior The interior is in excellent condition top to bottom. Black vinyl bench seats have been upgraded with more modern seat belts. An AM/FM/Cassette player and additional gauges under the dash are the only other things changed from how this Chevelle would have left the factory. The trunk is finished in a nice high gloss black rubberized coating that is protective and looks great. Exterior Not much looks sexier than a 1970 Chevelle. When you add a cowl induction hood and paint it black with white stripes it puts it on another level. American Racing Torque Thrust wheels are always a classic and give this Chevelle a bit of a modern touch. SS badging in the grill and on the fenders are a great touch and really draw people to the car at shows and even gas stations. Conclusion 1970 Chevelles do not sit very long, and this one will be no exception to that rule. Call now or you will miss out on this beautifully restored Chevelle. Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this awesome 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. This SS is painted in the very iconic Olympic Gold paint with black painted on racing stripes. This flows nicely with the black vinyl interior and black vinyl top, which are both in great condition. Popping open the hood you will see the date correct 70 SS set up which is a 396 V8 Big Block. This car does not have its numbers matching drivetrain but is built to have the most desirable combination with its 396 engine, 4 speed manual transmission (upgraded to the M22), and a 12-bolt rear with 3:33 gearing. The odometer reads about 95k miles but this Chevelle has been through a complete frame off restoration. Many upgrades make this car very drivable like the power brakes and steering, Electronic Carburetor, and Holly intake. The entire drivetrain has been rebuilt and is in turn key, show ready, scream down the street condition. The 1970 Chevelle is one of the most desired years to add to the collection due to its rarity of only being a 1 year run of this body style refresh. For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible. This black big block is powered by a 375 horse 396 with the L-89 aluminum head option. This was a true screamer! Solid lifters and high compression pop-up pistons with free-flowing aluminum Winters GM cylinder heads. This is not an original L-89 car, or the price would be near double as only a handful were ever built. However, this is a very accurate representation of a real L-89 car. The car featured has received a full frame off restoration in 2014 and will stop most people dead in their tracks. The paint appears as if it is miles deep and the rumble emitting from the coated ceramic headers and Flowmaster mufflers is intoxicating. Putting the power to the pavement is a close ratio Muncie M-21 4 speed manual, 12 bolt rear end with 4.10:1 positraction gears and some wide radial rubber. The rear tires are 275/60R15 and the car needs it! These big blocks were known for their stump pulling torque. The solid lifter variant of the big blocks were some of the meanest on the street. With a redline of 6,500 RPM and a factory underrated 375 horsepower, this was not a car to underestimate. True power numbers are far above 400 horsepower, especially with headers. Some sources say adding headers to a solid lifter high RPM Chevy Big Block was worth 75-100 extra horsepower. The factory cast iron exhaust manifolds were very restrictive. Equipment on this big block 4-speed convertible include Power top, Power brakes, Power steering, Power windows, tilt steering column and an AM/FM radio. Triple black with Magnum 500 wheels wrapped with BFG radial rubber, this car is gorgeous. For more information, call our St. Louis showroom at 618-271-3000 or swing by for up-close viewing.
