For sale in our Nashville showroom is this 1969 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia survivor. The Karmann Ghia has always been a cult car. Collectors all over the world appreciate the clean lines of its timeless design, combined with the ruggedness of its Volkswagen underpinnings. The Karmann Ghia was a sports car offered by Volkswagen. The Karmann Ghia combined the chassis and and drive train of the Volkswagen Beetle with the Italian styling of Carrozzeria Ghia and hand-built bodywork by the German coach-builder Karmann. This particular 1969 Karmann Ghia for sale is a very drive able survivor and runs well. The original build and body work has withstood the test of time with flying colors. The low mileage (undocumented) engine in this VW is an original air cooled 4 cylinder 1500cc engine from the VW factory and drives like you d expect a piece of German engineering! This engine is paired with a manual 4-speed transmission that shifts very smoothly through the gears. The exterior of the car retains the factory paint color, that shows that well for its age and the body is relatively dent free. The interior of the car is sports the 2+2 arrangement that the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is known for, with features including a later model CD player with AM/FM and rubber floor covering. This 1969 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia has only 16,526 miles and is running strong. The car also features nice custom items such as a German made roof rack and moon disc wheel covers. Pick up this little gem and enjoy an authentic mid-century German motoring experience just in time for spring! A $237.37 document fee will be added to the sales price. All purchases may be subject to any applicable tax, title, & licensing fees. Selling my 1969 Karmann Ghia. Unknown how many previous owners. I have done quite a bit of work to this vehicle, it is road worthy. I bought it 3 years ago from a gentleman in eastern Oregon. Since then I have only put several hundred miles on it, even less on all of the upgrades. It came with an 1835 cc motor, I replaced the dual carbs with dual Weber IDF 40's, added a crankcase breather. The compression check came out good. Otherwise motor is how I bought it.Now for the good stuff: I replaced the entire brake system from top to bottom: master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines etc.New wheel bearingsRebuilt transmission ordered from rancho, 1971 version to accommodate the better clutch/wheel combo which was also replaced with a kennedy clutch (180mm I believe)New shocks all the way around.New Pro-built adjustable front beam with drop spindles from airkewld.com Aftermarket oil coolerScat shifterBrand new rims and tiresWeather stripping is in pretty good shape.Paint is good but not show quality, very little rust. The not so good: main engine seal has a VERY slow leak. The steering has a sticky point but that might be fixed before sale. Could be an alignment issue. The car is LOW and may need to have the drop spindles replaced with regulars.Im sure I'm forgetting something. I have more into this car then I am asking. Selling because I am too busy to drive it and work on it, and I'd rather have the money for farm projects. It has always been garaged and I just had it detailed. Please no low ballers, all reasonable offers considered. Im not in a hurry to sell.
