A stick-shift, bucket seat 1969 Plymouth Road Runner with its original 383 V8 under the hood and (nearly) impossibly low mileage... Oh yeah, were offering you Mopar muscle car royalty. How often do you get to see a survivor-grade serious muscle machine? This Road Runner was purchased less than two hours from our showroom and has remained with the same family (father and son) for its whole lifetime. Thats why you can get such an appreciated muscle Mopar from a time when most were abused every Saturday night. The factory-correct Sunfire Yellow paint is the right kind of bright to attract attention to this special coupe. We also love the paint because it seems to go with the Road Runners attitude. After all, every Chrysler B-body of the era had an imposing look thanks to the wide stance and flared fenders, and this one even goes further with the performance hood and redline tires on Mopars Mag wheels. But the Road Runner had fun mixed into its attitude. The bright color combined with the grin-like wide bumpers and Warner Brothers bird make this an entertaining way to make a fast getaway. These were midsize muscle cars, but that designation in the 60s means full-size comfort today. So theres plenty of room to have family and friends riding with you, but you dont need any of them to have fun with this Road Runner. The intricate pattern of the bucket seats and center console (quite premium for a Plymouth) instantly reminds you that this Road Runner is a drivers car. And because this one has averaged less than 450 miles annually you know there was little time to wear in this survivor-grade interior. Thats why you get all the great original features from the 8-track radio to the three-poke steering wheel with cartoon center cap (and yes, the horn still gives his Beep! Beep!) But we bet your favorite sound happens when you twist the key. From the moment you lift the hood, you know exactly why this one gets your heart racing. The 383 cubic-inch V8 in the engine bay is the original motor installed by the St. Louis factory nearly a half-century ago. With that big bold block paint and correct Road Runner on top, it looks like a beacon of performance in the engine bay. So you know youre going to wow people with this much power and preservation in one package. It inhales deeply from a four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with authority through the rumbling dual exhaust. Best of all, you have complete control over the big V8s power and its thunderous soundtrack thanks the correct four-speed manual transmission. This is the kind of performance package that we know you wont be able to resist adding to the ultra-low mileage on the odometer. Because youre going to love telling this cars story, it also comes with the right paperwork to back it all up including the original window sticker, factory build sheet, and title documentation. Such a well-preserved muscle machine is a true rarity, especially when its a Mopar. So an in-demand classic like this is a case of call us today or you may regret it tomorrow!
Youre looking at the real-deal here. This 1969 Plymouth Road Runner is a true A12 car (M in the VINs fifth digit, and on the fender tag.) Less than 1,500 examples came from the factory with the 440 Six Pack, and you get to take full control of this screamer thanks to the four-speed stick shift. Oh yeah, this is definitely the Mopar muscle machine to own! The A12 was all about speed, so its on a diet of minimal options to keep the weight down. But this hardtop coupe still manages to have plenty of flair. The white paint helps to showcase the mean black wheels and the matte black hood. And speaking of the hood, that lift-off lightweight unit is a piece we all love because it truly reminds everyone its a race car for the streets. And that scoop on top that looks like it wants to inhale all other vehicles on the road as it passes them by. The 440 decals on that, combined with the Road Runner cartoon graphics, shows everyone that this serious equipment still has a playful side. There are no racing stripes or spoilers, because the designs muscular blocky lines and extra wide chrome bumpers do all the talking better than any add-on ever could. Open the door to one of the best interiors you will ever see on a Road Runner. Where most of these are dark-and-stark budget classics, this car features an interesting, original, and attractive two-tone green. The vinyl seats and door panels are looking great, and it keeps plenty of original elements, including the heater/defrost controls and the AM radio. Theres plenty of room for family and friends, but its the driver thats clearly the most important in this Plymouth. You slip into the bucket seat and grab the three-spoke wheel with the Road Runner horn cap. Beyond that is a full set of factory gauges and auxiliary readouts under the dash. This package includes a tach, which especially helpful because the Hurst performance shifter is a huge source of fun. But your favorite feature of this muscle machine is under the hood. Its a true 440 cubic-inch V8 with triple set of dual carbs (the legendary Six Pack.) This is a true M-code coupe, and that gives you true rarity. In fact, while this is not the original V8, it is a correct 69 440 block that was rebuilt using as many components as possible from the coupes original factor motor. Fully detailed with Hemi Orange paint, a proper air cleaner, and gleaming valve covers, this engine looks like a physical manifestation of horsepower. And the long tube headers with the chambered dual exhaust means the world can hear your domination from the moment this V8 roars to life. So youll love creating your own symphony of raw horsepower as the four-speed stick shift keeps you in total control of this monstrous package. If you cherish performance, few muscle cars are more pure in their pursuit of it than the A12 Mopars, and this awesome coupe delivers all the thrills youd expect. Call now!!
For sale in our Chicago showroom is a loud 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. The Road Runner name was introduced in 1968 as a trim level for the Plymouth Belvedere, and was designed to be no Frills muscle, just a simple car with a big engine. Trim wise, it was shoehorned between the highest trim GTX and the Satellite. The Road Runner sold double its expected numbers in the first year, becoming a huge success! This Road Runner has had an older repaint, but the blue still shines in the sun. The body lines, along with the stance of this car give it a solid and mean presence. Originally a 383, this car was upgraded to a 440 that lights up the tires. People will not miss you as you come up behind and roar past. Mated to this iconic Mopar engine is 4-speed manual transmission running the power back to a posi-traction rear end. Shifting is made easy thanks to the Hurst T grip shifter. This car is ready for the street or the strip. Other features unique to this car are a trunk fuel cell, large Autometer tachometer, and a SunPro gauge cluster to keep an eye on all your levels. The interior greets you with an no frills all black Mopar interior along with bench seat, the original dash, and the unmistakable Roadrunner center emblem and horn ring. A newer Pioneer AM/FM Stereo with a CD player has been put in to help this bruiser drive with some tunes! This 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner can be seen in our Chicago showroom. For sale at Gateway Classic Cars is a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner convertible! This beauty is painted in Sunfire Yellow with a Black vinyl Power soft top and Black Highline vinyl interior. Complimenting the look is a set of 14 inch Road Wheels wrapped in F70x14 Redline tires. The Redlines offer a nice contrast to the Yellow and black and work quite well with the red painted hood vents. Power comes from a non numbers matching 383 Super Commando (date coded 1967 block) with 906 heads and sends power through the well known and stout 727 Torque Flight automatic. Both have been rebuilt and have roughly 10,000 miles on them. Out back is an 8 3/4 rear end housing a set of 3.23 highway gears ready to hit the open road. Theres just something about the sound of a big block Mopar and this is no exception. The Flow Master mufflers and aluminized exhaust offer the perfect amount of Mopar rumble and with the top down, it s even better! The engine has been fitted with a 600 Edelbrock carburetor and electronic ignition, both are great upgrades. It also has a Group 27 battery, optional headrest, tinted windshield, Power steering and Power brakes with a disc brake conversion for the front. The car is an original Sunfire Yellow and was repainted about 8 years ago. The numbers on the radiator core support and left rear quarter panel under the trunk weather strip both match the VIN making this one of the 1,880 Road Runner convertibles built for the 1969 model year. 1969 was also the year that the Road Runner was the Motor Trend Car of the Year! The front end was recently checked and aligned making this a great cruiser! For more information on this 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, call our St. Louis showroom at 618-271-3000. 1969 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible So Plymouth created the Road Runner in 1968 to address the entry level muscle car market, we all know that. However, when they decided to take the roof off of it and make it an open car they created a sleek high performance inexpensive convertible that not only stimulates the physical aspect of a muscle car but also the classy side of cruising. Here is a fully, rotisserie restored example that is very correct has all the right stuff, is in a great color, and runs great. It looks as good underneath as on top and the topside is fabulous. The original fender tag is in place and it codes out to be very true to original. Unfortunately we have not gotten a broadcast sheet with this one. It is powered by a 383 CID V8 and 727 Torqueflite transmission along with a 3.23 rear end, this one is a riot to drive. The Bright Red paint with white power roof and black hood treatment, that includes Air Grabber Intake look fabulous on this fabulous Road Runner and it is easy to drive with power steering and the Torqueflite transmission. This great example has a very interesting history; we bought the car from the original owner that had it fully restored. He did not own the car for its entire life but he searched it out because he simply wanted it back. In the interim of his ownership the restoration was started and at some point the original VIN tag was lost, I cant explain how sorry, so it currently has an assigned VIN from the state. It does still have its original fender tag and codes out correctly other than the added AC and wheels and tires. The original owner is available if you want to speak to him. He also supplied us with an old photo from 1970 showing the car as it was when he owned it. It is not a numbers matching engine but it is an original Road Runner convertible with great options and in one of the best color combinations you could ask for. Here is an opportunity to enjoy the rewards of anothers labor without footing the bill. Features Non-Numbers 383 CID block with 335 ponies The carb is a stock Carter AFB on a correct Intake with Coyote Duster Air Grabber Setup Those horses are channeled through a Torqueflite 727 with Console Shifter The rear end is an 8 with 3.23 gear ratio The interior is true to original with White Bucket seats Comfort is enhanced with new Vintage Heat and Air Conditioning Power Steering aids in the comfortable control Stopping power is generated by standard front and rear drums< li> The wheels are fabulous 14 inch Chrysler Magnum 500 with stainless trim rings It rolls around on F70/14 redline bias ply tires In the dash is a reproduction correct Thumb Dial AM/FM radio The dash includes fuel, temp, amp, and factory tach with excellent trim and lettering The exhaust note is awesome and is generated by a full dual system that starts with headers and calls out via the box tips Finished in Bright Red with Black Performance Hood Treatment The look is accented with a chrome front and rear bumpers with dual outside rear view mirrors The power roof is like new vinyl with ad glass rear window The steering wheel is a correct 3 spoke simulated wood that is comfortable and of course the horn goes Beep-Beep The engine bay is detailed to original trim and trunk has mat, jack and spare Dont miss out on an opportunity to pick up one of the more rare body styles out there that is ready to enjoy today FENDER TAG DECODE RM27:Plymouth Belvedere,Satellite Medium, Road Runner Convertible H96: 383 330HP OR 335HP 1-4BBL 8 CYL 1969 Newark, DE, USA 129696: Sequence number E63: 383 cid 4 barrel V8 H.P. 335hp D32: Heavy Duty Automatic Transmission R6: Red Exterior Color H6W: Trim - High, Vinyl Bucket Seats, White/Black W1: White Int.
