This very nicely restored Dart Swinger cuts a sharp looking image with its aggressive stance and correct Hemi Orange paint. It is spotlessly clean and detailed out from top to bottom and end to end. If you have never had the opportunity to check out one of these lightweight cars with the hi-po small block 340, well then heres your chance. Come on down and check out this sweet ride. Dodge did a great job updating the Darts from the previous generation. A more rectangular look was created with crisp clean lines that would define the cars looks well into the 70s. This one received the attentions of some skilled body and paint specialists that prepped the panels and adjusted them properly before they sprayed it with a single drop of that bold Hemi Orange paint which is also the original color for this car. A performance hood has die-cast louvers announcing the 340 Four Barrel resting underneath it and a Black Bumblebee stripe encircling the back of the car announces it as a Dart Swinger. Up front, the grill is simple with a single headlight on each side and is underlined by a shiny new chrome bumper. Out back, the look is simple and clean with rectangular taillights over another fresh bumper that has a couple oval exhaust tips peeking out from under it. Black steel wheels with polished trim rings compliment the stripe and the chrome nicely. Open the door and you will find a Back interior that is as fresh and spotless as the outside. The door panel starts out smooth at the top underlined by a slash of chrome with a series of vertically embossed horizontal panel sections underneath it. The upholstery on both the front and rear seats has been replaced and looks as tight and right as a brand-new car. A three spoke steering wheel sits in front of a dash with a long rectangular speedometer flanked by factory gauges for fuel and water temp on the left with voltage and oil pressure on the right. There is also a trio of Equus gauges under the center of the dash to keep more accurate track of the oil, water and battery. A shifter for the automatic transmission rises high out of the floor in the center and behind it there is a Pioneer stereo that is AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth and iPod compatible for your listening pleasure. Open the hood and you will find that high performance 340 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. The chrome air topper announces it as a 340 Four Barrel and feeds the air to an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold. Chrome Moroso valve covers add their splash of flash while an aluminum radiator and electric fan keeps things running cool while looking good too with its polished upper mount. Hoses are protected by brushed metal coverings and the new wiring harness is nicely loomed and protected too. Stock exhaust manifolds lead out through dual free flow mufflers to the chrome exhaust tips at the rear. Power front disc brakes assure that you can haul this car back down from speed if you decide to let the horses run and fresh sway bar bushings help the car handle well. The rubber meets the road through BFGoodrich 225/70R14 tires. Neat, clean, nicely restored and ready to roll. Come on down and check this Swinger out.
For sale at Gateway Classic Cars in our St. Louis showroom is a 1969 Dodge Dart Swinger 340. Power comes from the potent 340 that was underrated at 275 horsepower. This is such a sweet sounding engine with a ton of potential for more power. These quick revving small blocks meant business. This one has been upgraded with a hotter camshaft, a 750 Edelbrock carburetor with an electric choke, electronic ignition and a high flowing exhaust system thanks to an X pipe and Magna Flow mufflers. Power is sent through the stout 727 Torque Flight transmission and back to an 8 3/4 rear end with a 3.23 Sure Grip gear set. The engine and transmission are both numbers matching and have approximately 10,000 miles since being rebuilt. The restoration also included new paint and an added tail stripe, New chrome bumpers, Head light & tail light bezels, Wheel bearings, Brakes, the raditor redone as a 3 core and BF Goodrich Redline radials wrapped around black steel wheels and offer a menacing look. Mopar never had enough nerve to stuff a 440 with a six pack into the little light weight Dart. That doesnt mean it isnt a good idea, right? Its a great idea! The restorer of this Dart thought so. Started with a real clean Arizona car. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Im going to start with the engine compartment because engine is the engine the highlight of the car. It is about as fresh as they get, the motor looks like it hasnt even been fired yet. It is a very desirable 1970 440 big block engine with Edelbrock intake and Holley six pack carb setup. On top is the correct air cleaner assembly. Upgraded with a set of headers and aluminum water pump. All the components look new like the fan shroud, alternator, wires, heater blower, wiper motor, master cylinder, wiring etc. The engine bay is all clean metal, no rust or damage repair that i can find. Clean factory seams and welds. It is painted a beautiful glossy blue. The original fender tag is attached and it decodes as a real B5 blue car. It is very neat and orderly. UNDERSIDE: Looks like it has its original metal, rock solid. No patches, even the bottoms of the 1/4 panels look clean original. Has welded in frame connectors for a more rigid body to handle all the torque from the bigger motor. The front end is completely rebuilt and detailed. The bottom of the motor and trans are spotless. Has the big 727 TorqueFlite. New disc brakes in front. New driveshaft with safety loop. In back it has new leaf springs and shocks, also a custom fuel tank. EXTERIOR: I said the motor was the highlight but the more I look the body is exceptionally clean on this car. Yeah, the more I look at this car Im realizing how clean the body is. I just learned the car is originally from Prescott Arizona. Its really straight, the doors fit the fenders and 1/4s like its one piece. The doors shut like a new car too. The paint has a smooth glossy clear coat finish. Jambs are painted real nice, weatherstrips are soft. Glass is rwally clear, windshield is new. The bumpers are rechromed, side moldings are exceptionally straight and shiny. Grill, tail panel trim are very nice. Vinyl top is new and the trim around it is excellent. Perfect choice of wheels. 15 inch painted rims with the dog dish caps with newer BFG tires, wider in back for a aggressive look and a better chance of hooking up. INTERIOR: Inside the car is really nice too. The upholstery is new and the seat feels nice and firm. Door panels have been replaced. Carpet and headliner have been replaced. The dash area is really nice, nothing broken or damaged. The chrome knobs and trim shine. The factory AM-FM radio is rare. Neatly installed under the dash is a Mopar oil and temperature gauge. Dash pad is new. Seatbelts, steering wheel, trim is all very nice. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Inside the trunk is real nice. The spare tire well has been filled in to accommodate the custom gas tank underneath. Has original style plaid mat. Underside of the trunk lid has its original paint and jack instructions sticker. Weatherstrip was replaced. The more time I spent looking at this car the more I liked it. It has more to offer then just the motor. Its a rust free car restored mechanically and cosmetically really well. I even told the salesmen how much I like this one! 6 pack carbs Disc brakes Frame connectors Dog dish wheels GT stripe Am-Fm Rear defog Remote mirror GT stripe
