This very cool 1968 GTO convertible received a comprehensive restoration, and it combines an unusual color combination with a 400 inch V8, proving its still the big cat in the jungle. With a new interior, a 4-speed, and receipts, this is the one to own if you like your muscle a little unusual. The all-new 68 GTO proved once again that Pontiac knew what younger buyers wanted in a performance car. More than just raw power, the new GTO was stylish, comfortable, and ideally suited to the late60s muscle car scene. This awesome ragtop is a car thats always been loved, so its been properly maintained and treated to a quality restoration just a few years ago. The look today proves that the cars owners have been very picky about maintenance, making this a very high-quality piece. Were pretty sure there werent any Springmist Green (dont worry, its pretty close to silver with just a hint of green in it) GTOs that looked this good in Pontiac showrooms in 1968, with an awesome shine, super straight sheetmetal, and panel gaps that fit superbly. The Endura bumper was game-changing, and it is in excellent condition with no cracks or damage to the paint from flexing, suggesting that proper flex additives were used during the paint process. The hidden headlamps were so popular that most people dont even realize they were optional, and theres just nothing cooler than those twin scoops on the hood signifying horsepower underneath. Chrome is a combination of original and restored pieces, giving the car a wonderful all-of-a-piece look. With Springmist Green, code 223 black vinyl is a very attractive choice. Thats a 100% new interior, including the seats and door panels which are from PUI. Crisp details on the seats make them look OEM and there is no wear in any of the critical areas. Pontiacs dashboard layout was the best in the industry, with three pods ahead of the driver for the basics and an owner-added pair of under-dash gauges. The center console offers a Hurst shifter for the 4-speed manual gearbox and theres a Jensen AM/FM/cassette radio in the center thats probably overdue for an upgrade. Overhead, theres a code 2 black convertible top, replaced when the car was painted and still in fantastic shape. It also includes a matching black vinyl boot and a very correct-looking trunk with full-sized spare and reproduction mat. Power comes from what we believe is the original, numbers-matching 400 cubic inch V8. It shows a few very minor signs of usage, of course, but nothing that a weekend of elbow grease wouldnt fix and it runs superbly. Chrome valve covers were standard on the GTO and thats Pontiac Turquoise engine enamel on the block, so it looks exactly right. No modifications, no questionable upgrades, just an extremely well-finished Poncho that remains an impressive performer thanks to factory equipment. Power steering and brakes make it easy to drive, and a recent dual exhaust system adds a bit of attitude, GTO-style. The chassis is extremely clean with no damage or replaced panels, the front suspension and brakes have been fully rebuilt, and theres a new gas tank, pump, and lines to keep it healthy. Correct 14-inch Rallye II wheels with trim rings are the right choice, and they carry reproduction F70-14 redline tires to complete the OEM look. This car also includes the original owners manual and restoration receipts to back up its great presentation. GTOs work best on the road, and this one is ready to rock. Call us today for all the details on this amazing machine!

This cool 1968 Pontiac GTO is for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The 68 GTO was brought out as a completely redesigned model with a much more curvaceous body. The styling ques and performance allowed Pontiac to sale over 87000 units that year. Today these cars are still sought after for the same reasons making the GTO one of the most sought-after muscle cars to this day. This green example is one of the few cars that has only had 2 owners in its lifetime. The current owner bought it in 1970 and kept it until now with a copy of the bill of sale included. The paperwork and receipts that come with the car are rather extensive with the original build sheet found under the gas tank are included as well. The green paint is correct to the car with it having a respray done some time ago. The panels are original to the car and are in good condition. The Endura bumper was the major thing that separated the GTO from a Chevelle. This one Under the hood you will find the original 400/350HP engine that still has plenty of power and runs extremely well. The 4-speed transmission shifts out nicely with a great feel on the pedal. The interior is believed to be original to the car and shows no signs of wear. The black vinyl buckets upfront are exactly what you would except in 68. The 4-speed shifter is in a great position to hammer through those gears. Speaking of gears the original rear-end is still intact with the 3.23 gears. Many consider these the perfect mix of acceleration and highway driving. If you have been looking for an exceptionally original car with the documentation showing that is genuine this 68 is the right car for you. Options on this 1968 Pontiac GTO include, AM Radio, Power Steering, Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, and Radial Tires on Custom Wheels. For sale in our St. Louis Showroom is a Pro Touring 1968 Pontiac GTO. This GTO was built with drivability and fun in mind from the get go. The build started in June of 2009 and was completed in March of 2010. The burgundy exterior paint is a color from a 2009 Cadillac and features a slight metallic flake. The black leather interior is mostly custom, and features seats from a 2005 GTO that were slightly modified to fit and look right inside this 68 GTO. Other custom touches in the interior include the console and the stainless-steel dash insert. Powering this Pro Touring GTO is a 428 CID V8 engine with a 4bbl Edelbrock carburetor and intake, chrome valve covers, and a mild performance cam. The 2.5 Ram Air exhaust flows to Spintek mufflers and X-pipe creating a killer sound. All this combines for an impressive 392 horsepower at the rear wheels. A Tremec 5-speed manual transmission transfers those ponies to the Posi-Trac 10-bolt rear end with 3.55 gears and provides a super fun driving experience. Opening and closing the big hood is made easy via the Billit aluminum hood hinges, that also look pretty darn cool. The ride height and overall stance is achieved via 2 drop spindles in the front and 17 Mickey Thompson aluminum/alloy wheels that are wrapped in brand new Toyo radial tires. The odometer reads 13,115, the actual mileage is unknown, and the build is believed to have between 6,000 and 8,000 miles on it. Options for this 1968 Pontiac GTO include: Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with MP3 Connectivity, Power Driver s Seat, Leather Interior, Seat Belts, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Radial Tires, and Aluminum/Alloy Wheels. When looking at this 68 GTO you would think the build was completed last year, to find out it was finished 8 years ago gives you a great idea of the care given to this beauty by the owner. This is a super fun GTO to hop in and drive all day long, whether it be across town or across the state. We attend Ocean Reef Club Vintage Weekend to appreciate classic automobiles as well as vintage boats and aircraft. You need to look back every now and then in order to see where the road ahead will lead us.
Since the early 60s, Pontiac Motor Division has been routed in performance with the theory; What wins on Sunday, Sells on Monday . Pontiac championed drag strips across the country with their big iron Catalina Super Dutys and Bonnevilles on a consistent basis. In 1964, Pontiac went one step further and the formula was simple: Put a big, high horse power motor into its smallest body, then the tempest; they called it the GTO. The GTO is consider the first muscle car and it kept competing manufactures scrambling to keep up with Pontiacs performance. This created the horsepower wars between the Big Three and within General Motors. The mid to late 60s considered the most exciting era in American automotive manufacturing where restrictions were loose and the engineers were encouraged to build cars with brutal performance and distribute them to the awaiting American public. Pontiacs GTO is revered by many as year after year the GTO remained at the top of the food chain.GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this exciting, fully restored 1968 Pontiac GTO. 1968 was an important year as the car went through a complete redesign for the eager customer base. GM shortened the wheelbase, and 1968 was the first year for the popular Endura bumpers. The car offered was delivered new by Jones Pontiac Co. of Lancaster, PA equipped as follows: 400 4bbl HO engine, 4 speed manual transmission, saf-t-track posi rear end, AM / FM Radio with electric antenna, tape player, rear window defog, covered headlamps, hood tach, rally wheels, console, clock, exhaust tips, remote deck lid release, disc brakes, soft ray tinted glass, luggage lamp and redline tires. Today, after an extensive restoration the car is stunning in all areas and remains in its original configuration. The original 400 V8 engine has been replaced with a 455 with mild cam upgrade running at 9.5:1 compression. The performance of this car is amazing and the presentation is stunning. The GTO remains an icon in American automotive history and quality examples such as this will always remain sought after. It has it all: 4-speed Muncie, signature rally wheels, hood tach, power and sound. A great opportunity offered by GR Auto Gallery. The car is documented with its original build sheet, protect-o-plate, original build sheet, original delivery inspection, service history as early as 1971, original owener history etc.
1968 Pontiac GTO Convertible In early 1963 a team of engineers and designers got together at Pontiac and decided to focus more on street racing and power. The Tempest had been in production for a bit, and a more muscular powerful car was needed. Hence the acronym GTO or Grand Tempest Option became the code for the secret new development that would take place. John DeLorean actually claims the GTO came from the Italian Gran Turismo Omologato or Grand Touring Homologated (certified) which in reality the car was never meant for grand touring, but to be the fastest straight-line Pontiac produced. In the collector car market, authenticity commands big respect. Nearly every major club grades on how correct restorations are, and the price of largely original metal continues to climb. After all, the factory only bolts it together once, and that brand of perfection is usually the state in which enthusiasts create their fondest memories. This awesome GTO mixes that golden feeling of authenticity with a regiment of selective restoration. Heres your fully documented ticket to the glorious, octane-fueled past! Exterior 4267 denotes a 2-Door Convertible, and the G tells us its April Gold, with a black interior and black top. All correct, all in great condition. A third bump on the hood reveals a hood tachometer option installed. Trunk is pristine and correct, and all outside panels are straight and create good gaps. A slight chip on both sides of the bar that spans horizontally below the grille can be noted. Also, a small frown on the passenger side headlight covering does not align with the remainder of the grille. The power convertible top works flawlessly and is in very good condition. Rally II wheels cover it on the corners of the car. Interior Black buckets with vertical pleats make up the front passenger seating, and a rear bench same pattern also in vinyl stretches across the back. All seats proudly display front and rear seat belts, and shoulder belts in front, direct from the factory. Authentic Pontiac rubber floor mats protect the ever so slightly faded black carpeting. Dash is all crack free, straight and true, and houses an AM/FM/8 track radio, and rally gauge cluster with a rally clock, which sadly is not working. On the matching vinyl covered interior door panels, one can see the toggles for the power windows. Also, the convertible top, as noted, is power, as well as the steering and brakes. A center console all the rage with the sedan muscle, is being flanked by the two front buckets. The Hurst shifter with walnut knob sits between the seats in front of the vinyl console. Also, a rally steering wheel is attached. Drivetrain All muscle no nonsense 400ci V8 that produces 350hp sits within the engine bay. Consigner states it is not a numbers matching engine, however he has the matching numbers engine, as well as not having any idea as to why exactly the original owner took it out? A 4-speed manual transmission is attached to the rear of the engine, and as noted has a Hurst shifter. Slight surface rust, and plenty of patina cover the engine. Undercarriage Noted is surface rust, however it is otherwise unremarkable. No bad through rusting or structural integrity flaws what-so-ever. Also seen are power disc brakes in front, and power drum brakes in the rear. Overall clean and well maintained. Sometimes the best classics are the ones that speak softly. No blower sticking through the hood, no gaudy rims on a bagged chassis and no wild graphics. Just a clean, classy and well-constructed muscle car that was purpose-built to look good and perform great. Featuring timeless style, excellent hardware and modern comfort, this slick Pontiac represents the best of everything, including plenty of get-up n GTO!

Heres one classic muscle car thats sure to make an immediate impression. With its unusually high impact exterior color, this 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible looks like its been transported directly from the past to provide miles and miles of driving excitement for its next lucky owner. Its magnetic look both inside and out combines with a smooth-running drivetrain thats benefited from some well-chosen add-ons to provide plenty of dependable performance. Pearl white paint draped over its exterior turns the dial for curb appeal up to 11 - this Pontiac classic isnt going to get lost in the crowd anytime soon. The paint is looking strong - its obviously well-applied and the pearl it contains really adds depth. As a 68, it heralded the arrival of the second generation of GTOs - a model that had already endeared itself to American muscle car aficionados, making it all the more important that Pontiac got their restyling efforts right. Its gently sloping rear roofline gives a semi-fastback appearance and a wheelbase a half-foot shorter than its preceding generation as well as a lower profile, were obvious nods to those putting a high premium on inspired handling. Youll notice a few signature styling features on display here - the body-colored Endura front bumper, a pair of subtly shaped hood scoops and a hood mounted tach which, while it will need a bit of attention to get back online, is a fine example 60s era automotive cool. The matching white convertible top is in great shape, rising into position smoothly and even featuring a nice, clear plastic rear window. White interiors look great when theyre well-protected and treated with respect, but cut a less impressive appearance when that isnt the case. The environment inside the doors of this Pontiac certainly falls into the former category. It really looks sharp. The white covers on the front buckets and rear bench seats still fit snugly and dont show much wear and the matching door panels to each side show the same condition as they cling firmly to their steel frames. Between the buckets sits a center console whose new look suggests it was likely recently replaced as it positions a white-balled Hurst manual shifter in perfect position for putting this classic muscle car through its paces. Up front, the dash area is another strong feature, with easily readable factory gauges in its cluster, fresh woodgrain accents and a clean dash pad free of any cracking across its top. The matching power white convertible stands by to protect you from the elements and it, too, is in good shape - its even sporting a clear plastic rear window. The period-correct 400 cubic inch V8 holding court under the hood was already plenty strong in its natural state, producing 360 horsepower in factory trim, and its received some great upgrades to up its power game even further - including an Edelbrock intake manifold, an MSD fuel injection system to provide both adjustability and dependable all-weather performance, as well as an MSD electronic ignition to maximize available spark. This classic pulls with conviction and its 4-speed manual transmission provides a compelling hands-on driving experience. Power steering makes for easy navigation, while power brakes at all four corner - with discs up front - bring fade resistant stops. This unusually eye-catching vintage Pontiac rolls on a set of 15 chrome torque thrust wheels outfitted with BF Goodrich T/A radials while the undercarriage carries the natural patina youd expect from a half century of life but looks reassuringly sturdy. With an appearance thats sure to turn heads and ample power lurking under its hood, this 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible is one very rare find. Call today!
Heres a classic muscle car thats sure to turn heads. This 1968 Pontiac GTO represents the model at a great time - at the debut of its second generation, when its manufacturer added some well-chosen aesthetic changes that built upon the GTOs already exalted status on the boulevard. It wears an outstanding exterior color and will arrive with PHS documentation on hand to prove its the real thing. Pontiac had already enjoyed strong success with the GTO since it debuted in 1964 and when the time came to make some updates the very year this 68 came out, the company proved itself adept at changing with the times, equipping its prized model with a much more curvaceous shape, as well as a semi-fastback rear roofline. The Midnight Blue shade this GTO wears is a definite head turner. Its about as deep and dark a rendering of the color as youre likely to come across and has a nice shine, but it is an older paint, so it shows signs of being driven. The split front grille became a Pontiac trademark over the years and when you follow this one up to the contour dividing the hood, youll see a little more evidence of the manufacturers handiwork: the distinctive double scoop, as well as a hood mounted tachometer ... a very rare option. The collection of brightwork on this classic is looking solid, the signature rear bumpers fresh appearance indicates it was likely recently replaced and the prominent GTO badging near the tail really pops against its background. The interior holds some welcome surprises. Its been totally refurbished and now sports a very sharp, yet era appropriate custom style. The plushly padded bucket seats now wear black leather covers with intricate GTO emblems on their backrests, and they straddle a very nicely configured center console that offers both storage space and a pair of cup holders as well as a His & Hers shifter. This is a very inviting driving environment - the billet steering wheel will attract your gaze right away, the carpet and door panels look new and the dash pad running the width of the cabin is still supple and shows no cracking from UV exposure. Inside the cluster, the trio of oval factory displays are still nice and clear and the woodgrain dash accent appears fresh and well-applied. Open the glovebox and youll find an Alpine AM/FM/CD player inside. It also features iPod, Bluetooth and satellite radio connectivity and teams with a pair of subwoofers and an amp mounted in the trunk, so youll have some serious audio quality at your disposal. The engine compartment is tidy and well-detailed, with neatly routed wiring and fresh-looking hoses. The YS code 400 cubic inch V8 at its center wears a 4-barrel Edelbrock carb on top of an intake manifold that appears recently replaced and is running strong and sends a nice deep note out of its Flowmaster exhaust. The engine pairs with a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission thats known for its solid durability and is shifting with precision. With power disc brakes at all four corners, stops come with fade resistant dependability and the power steering on hand has a nice light but responsive touch to it. This very coveted classic cruises on a set of 14 stock Pontiac Motor Division wheels wearing BF Goodrich T/A radials. Pontiac created an enduring classic with the GTO and this 1968 Pontiac GTO captures all that magic in its second generation splendor. Call today!
